“That was so sweet,” Vanessa drawled with a pout.
“This is a human being you all,” she stated and glared at the rest of the men.
“You are wrong. He’s not human,” Shem retorted and glared back at her. Before Vanessa could retaliate, Wayne cleared his throat.
“Would you like me to tell you my first impression of her?” he asked Dolly without looking at Olive who was actually looking up at him.
“Yes, please. I was going to ask you anyway,” she replied. He looked down at Olive with a clenched jaw and his muscles flicking slightly in them.
“When I first saw you, I felt something I had never ever felt before. I felt like my world had come crashing down. Usually, I feel angry and have the urge to take revenge when something that belongs to me is destroyed. But when I first saw you… I… I felt like I had lost it all. Like I was desolate, hopeless. I got the greatest wave of despair ever.
“The next few minutes after that, I felt angry. So much anger that I was scared I would unleash it on my men so I sent them out of the room. And after I took your bloodied, unconscious body from that cold floor, I felt rejuvenated. Like my life had just begun. Like… like I found my missing vital organ. I finally understood what it felt like for mates to find each other. To be honest, I was grateful deep down inside. I still am,” Wayne stated as he stared deep into Olive’s eyes. He lowered his face and kissed her lips tenderly. There were five seconds of silence then a loud applause sounded across the room.
“Best speech ever!” Vanessa yelled amidst the applause.
“I had no idea my big brother was learning from me,” Shem stated after the applause. Olive chuckled to that as Wayne unlocked from the kiss.
“You forget I was worse than you when I was your age,” Wayne replied Shem and Olive laughed then hugged him.
“You did not go flirting around with your elder brother’s mate, did you?” she asked and ran her fingers through his tousled hair slowly.
“That was because I didn’t have any brother,” he replied and kissed her lips again.
“You see. It just runs in the blood,” Shem directed at Vanessa and huffed at her. Vanessa just shook her head and looked away from him.
Her eyes met Terry’s figure who had his gaze directed at a certain person and he was not taking his eyes off. Vanessa peered at him and noticed how he seemed nervous and cautious. She raised a brow and wondered what was going on with Terry. Right then, she made a mental note to keep tabs on him and be sure it was not what she was suspecting.
“I do hope that all our first impressions of Olive is not what we all are holding on to now. She’s such a sweet soul and a wonderful mate to our Alpha,” Dolly cited.
“And a badass. Don’t let this innocent face fool you. This girl is badass. I know it,” Jericho chirped in and dropped his empty glass on the tray on the table. Shem followed suit and grabbed another bottle of wine. He popped it and Jericho brought new wine glasses from the bar.
“There is still some champagne left you know,” Dolly told them but the duo were already pouring them and singing along to the music from the television which was not so loud anymore. They began to just drink and chug down glasses. Terry joined them and then Jake, then Vanessa and Dolly had to just join the binge drinking too. Crusoe just sat down and was watching them. He was not much of a drinker and hated to get drunk.
Wayne took Olive’s empty champagne flute from her and took two more of the ones on the counter at the bar. He handed one to her and she just chugged it down.
“Whoah, easy there little cat,” he said and she chuckled.
“Don’t worry, I won’t get drunk,” she giggled and handed the glass to him.
“Oh really? Want to go join them then?” he asked and gestured his head towards the direction of the guys that were already really tipsy. Jericho and Shem were engaged in a competition of who would get drunk first and the others were cheering noisingly on them as they chugged down glasses.
“Nope. I’m good,” she said.
“I thought so. Hey, give me a second to make a call, okay? I’ll be right back,” he requested and she nodded. He walked to the bar and dropped her empty champagne flute but walked away into a room through the door beside the bar. Olive saw as he entered that it was a bedroom and a medium sized one.
She turned her head and saw that Jericho was on the floor and Shem was grabbing on to the table for dear life. Two bottles of wine were already empty and lying on the table. The guys were laughing and Terry would not stop kicking Jericho who was on the floor.
Olive laughed and glanced at Crusoe who was also laughing. He was seemed interested in whatsoever his friends were doing but he didn’t join in. She turned to the bar and saw two more filled glasses of champagne and took them. She walked up to him and handed him one which he received immediately.
“Thank you, Luna,” he appreciated and took a sip that moment.
“Mind if I sit with you?” she asked politely.
“Not at all,” he answered with a shrug. She sat down beside him and smiled.
“Thank you for what you said earlier. That was really… really unexpected,” she stated.
“There is nothing to be thankful about, Olive. It’s just me being different as always,” be replied with a casual smile.
“You seem to be the only one amongst these men who is not too… bad,” Olive cited and he chuckled deeply.
“Don’t be so quick to judge that way. I’m also not what I seem to be,” he replied while looking at the guys.
“Well, I guess I should not judge that way because you are still one of the elite men of the Big Bad Alpha. How long have you been with him?”
“Roughly eight years. I am from one of the packs he took siege over. He found me training alone in the woods at night and just told me to follow him with a smirk. I knew who he was so I just obeyed, expecting trouble. Funny enough, he just gave me clothes and threw me a car key,” Crusoe stated with a chuckle at the end.
“What were you doing in your pack before Alpha Knight took over?” Olive inquired.
“Trying to lead protests against the foolish and selfish leaders we had. The Alpha and Beta of my pack were just stupid things. We were more like slaves under them than pack members. I was a part of the trained soldiers but then, I refused to go to any form of battles for the pack. Let us say, I was the black sheep amongst them.”
“What about your family? Did you not have one?”
He smiled at her and took a sip of the champagne.
“My father was the Alpha of the pack,” he answered and her mouth fell open.
“That was so sweet,” Vanessa drawled with a pout.
“This is a human being you all,” she stated and glared at the rest of the men.
