She hastens her step and moves towards the mansion. Carl was taking his time following her, he didn’t want to give the others the wrong Idea.
When they got into the mansion he hastened his steps. Florentine wouldn’t look back till she got to her room she could feel how close he was. Her heart was beating so fast. She yearned for him but was overwhelmed by the flooding feelings she had for him.
Their was a growing heat of desire for him and the same was what carl felt for her.
He wasn’t going to let her push him away like other times or avoid him. He didn’t know what he was going to say exactly but he just missed her and wanted to see her.
“Florentine.” Carl called and she stopped in her flight. The tip of her fingers felt cold. Her breath raced.
Keeping her desires in was getting too difficult. Carl was stealing her breath, she was almost gasping for air now.
“Why are you following me?” She asked without turning back.
“I don’t even know.” He said walking towards her slowly. She tilted her head to the side but couldn’t get a glimpse of him.
“Can I ask you a question then?”
She remained silent but he went ahead. “Why are you running away from me?” She gasped and took a deep gulp. She wanted to lie but nothing came to her mind. She could still feel him coming closer and the tension was getting to a climax.
“Just go carl.”
“No.” He blatantly said.
“Go before I do something stupid.” She said and he paused. His eyes squinting at her words.
“I’m not going.” He said. She shut her eyes and shook her head slightly hoping to talk herself out of her desire at the moment but instead she found herself turning around and her feet led her into Carl’s arms. She wrapped her hand around his neck and without thinking any further, she brushed her lips against his.
Carl stiffened, remaining at a place. His hands were slightly on her waist. He was stunned beyond words. He didn’t expect her to kiss him.
The surge of sensations and emotions that fired up in his body were like nothing he had felt before. Not even with Louisa, Thea’s mum.
When Florentine saw that he wasn’t kissing her back she felt that she had misinterpreted Carl’s signals. He didn’t feel the same way about her.
She felt embarrassed and completely stupid so she pulled away and stared apologetically into his eyes. Carl’s gaze was still full of shock.
She quickly brought her hand to almost cover her lips.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know what came over me.” The cheapest excuse, that was what she gave.
Carl’s gaze slowly went from shocked to darken into desire. Florentine was quick to notice the changes but before she could dwell on the thought, her back was against the wall, Carl’s muscled arms wrapped around her and his plump thick lips enveloped hers. His fingers dived into her hair pulling her head forward.
There was a massive explosion of sensations and feeling within her and she dripped heavily between her thighs. Carl kissed her deeply, cravingly, making his way deeper into her heart and soul. Claiming her with his addictive strokes.
He drove her insane and she lost all sense of decency. She threw her hands around his neck, kissing him back. They savoured the taste from each others lips till their satisfaction.
They were panting now, breathing warm air against each others lips. Florentine blinked still in disbelieve that he had just kissed her back. She was overjoyed.
She touched her lips as if trying to convince her self that it was true that they just kissed. Carl leaned in again and slid his tongue into her mouth, sucking her and enjoying the taste of her lips in his before he pulled away to look at her with eyes full of passion.
“I’m falling for you Florentine.” Carl blurted and she blinked severally. He was actually having feelings for her.
“I….” She tried to speak but began to think of how things could end up between them. “It can’t work between us.” She said and his eyes was filled with hurt at her response. He pulled away from her but was still close.
“Why? You’re afraid or you think no one would approve of us? Or is it the fact that I’d soon leave? Which one is it Florentine?” He asked.
“I’m not going to let you play with my heart Carl.”
“Why do you think of me so negatively already?”
“You’re only here for Thea and will leave the moment she returns to her mum.” She expressed her concern.
“What if I don’t want to leave?” She scoffs.
“You can’t possibly stay.”
“What if I can? Do you think we could work then?” At this point he was already thinking of offering his services to Angel just so he could be with her.
“You don’t even know me.”
“I want to know you Florentine….” He paused then clicked his tongue. “I don’t know where this will end but I know I’m going to regret it and hate myself if I just let you go.” He said making her speechless.
“Carl… T-this isn’t going to work.” She stuttered.
“I’d rather let time tell.” He said and moved close to her again, touching her lips. His lips suddenly lengthens into a smile making her shy then he whispers in a low sultery and raspy voice
“Do you really think you can push me away now? After I’ve had a taste of something this sweet and addicting.” He was referring to her lips and she knew that. “Avoid me all you want Florentine but I promise you, I’ll follow my heart.” He said dropping a gentle kiss on her lips before leaving. Florentine placed her hand on her chest feeling her heart blossom with joy. She was happy to see that Carl was firm on what he wanted, it was really scary to go with her heart but just like Carl, she knew she was going to regret and hate herself for not giving it a try.
No one made her feel this happy and alive. Carl did it without so much effort. She wasn’t ready to go back to her boring life that was grey and lacked love and affection.
She too deseved to be loved.
______
After the practice was over, Angel informed Lola and she arrived at the mansion as soon as she could. Angel had brought Thea along with him. He had suspected that Lola was only trying to be close to him using the information he had. He didn’t want to hurt her but he still felt the need to make things clear without having to say a word.
“Thank you Thea for letting me come here.” Lola said once she was before them.
“What? No….” Thea laughs nervously. “I….”
“You don’t have to feel uncomfortable Thea There’s no way Angel would let me come here without seeking your permission first. So thank you.” Lola said, she already figured over the phone. Thea felt a bit awkward knowing she was telling the truth.
“Well, let’s go somewhere and talk.” Angel said.
“I’ll leave you two then.” Thea said attempting to leave but Angel held her back.
“You’re coming with us Thea.” She feels uncomfortable but nods. They go into Angel’s office and Angel offers Lola a drink. Thea feels weird because these two were cartel members and she had zero knowledge about anything. Angel should have just let her be.
Without wasting any of their time Lola dropped the reason why she had come there.
“Sparrow is alive.” Everywhere went awfully silent as she dropped the bomb. She watched their expression before she continued. “… but he is comatose.”
Their expression went from shock to relieve and then to curiosity.
“How did you learn about this?” Angel asked.
“My father told me. He realized I was the one one who betrayed him.” She answered. So many thoughts went through Angel’s mind. His enemy was still alive.
“Why would Ricardo tell you that if he knows you betrayed him?”
“He was hoping for some humanity in me. He wanted me to feel guilty for sparrow.”
“So what now?” Thea asked. She was worried.
“The moment I find that bastard. I’ll kill him in his resting state and all our family problems will be solved.” Lola stated. Angel blinked in relieve. It was a good thing Lola hated him. He didn’t want to kill Sparrow in that way, he wanted him to be fully aware of the pains he’d inflict. Lola had promised to keep him informed and left. Angel had to tell the others about the news.
