Chapter 1138

Book:Surprised With Her Real Identities Published:2024-11-18

Lara stood at the door, puzzled. What did her uncle mean by this? What had her father done to make him feel troubled? He even said her father was stubborn…
“I don’t know what charm my sister-in-law, whom I’ve never met, possesses. For so many years, he has been thinking about her and refuses to marry. Jasper, you shouldn’t try to persuade him anymore. I can’t persuade him either. Besides… I haven’t married either. My brother doesn’t want to marry, and neither do I. Now we have Lara. Although she has some flaws, who can be perfect?”
Hearing Louis mention her name, Lara’s heart tightened, and she listened intently.
Jasper was one of the six elders of the Fox family, ranked fifth, so he was generally called Jasper.
Lara didn’t know why Jasper and her uncle were talking about her…
She was lost in thought when she heard Louis’s voice again, “Jasper, if you insist on doing this, I have no choice. Alright, I’ll pick her up tomorrow.”
“But… I don’t know if my brother will accept her.”
“Okay, goodbye.”
Lara quietly retreated. It seemed there would be a guest tomorrow. Who could it be? A man or a woman?
Lara felt a bit uneasy.
She had an inexplicable aversion to the arrival of outsiders.
She forgot her purpose for finding Louis and went back to her room.
Sitting in her luxurious princess bedroom, she couldn’t figure it out.
Donald and his brother had always lived with her in this manor, not with the Fox family members. Was there some change in the family?
Or had something happened?
She had a bad feeling.
She thought for a long time but couldn’t understand. Finally, she went to the bathroom to take a shower.
But lying in bed, she tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Half-awake, she heard the sound of a sports car engine in the garage.
Lara sat up suddenly and looked at the clock on the wall. It was already six in the morning.
She jumped out of bed barefoot and went to the window, only to see Louis’s car leaving the garage.
“So early… What is he going to do?”
How strange.
Did he need to pick someone up so early?
Lara had no intention of sleeping anymore and got up to wait for Louis to return.
She changed into a more elegant home outfit, which was very high-end and expensive.
After getting dressed, she put on light makeup and went downstairs.
The servants had already prepared breakfast and were about to call Donald for breakfast when Lara stopped them. “I’ll go.”
“Yes, Miss.” The servant responded humbly.
“Dad,” Lara knocked on Donald’s door. “Are you up? It’s time for breakfast.”
“Oh, okay. You go ahead; don’t wait for me.” Donald’s tired voice came through the door.
Lara frowned. Her father had always been healthy and had a habit of morning exercise.
Recently, she hadn’t seen him exercise in the morning; instead, he was sleeping in?
Strange!
Very strange!
“Dad, skipping breakfast is bad for your stomach. How about having breakfast first and then sleeping?” Lara persisted.
“Alright, I’ll be there soon.”
Hearing Donald finally agree, Lara went downstairs.
Sitting in the dining room, she still felt something was off.
After about ten minutes, Donald finally came to the dining room. The house was heated, but he was wrapped up tightly in thick padded home clothes.
He looked very cold, which worried Lara. “Dad, are you sick? Why are you dressed so warmly?”
“Maybe it’s just too cold outside.” Donald glanced at her lightly. “Let’s have breakfast.”
Lara understood his underlying message: don’t worry about him; just take care of herself.
So she opened her mouth but said nothing and lowered her head to eat breakfast.
After breakfast, Lara changed into a business suit and was about to go to work when Louis’s car returned.
The tall man got out of the car and said to Lara, “Lara, we have guests today. Don’t go to work.”
“Uncle, what kind of guests?” Lara’s heart sank. Someone had indeed come!
Louis smiled broadly and opened the car door. A woman in her thirties stepped out of the car. She was charming and alluring.
That was the elegance unique to mature women.
Not only that, but following her out of the car was a girl in her twenties with an innocent appearance that seemed harmless.
When Lara saw these two women, her pupils contracted. “Dana? Marlie?”
Jasper’s two cousins! They often interacted with the Fox family. It was said that Dana admired her father for many years and remained unmarried!
Why were these sisters here?
Could it be…
Lara almost spat out blood. She couldn’t hide things in her heart and couldn’t help but scream, “Why are you in my house? What are you here for?”
“Lara?” Louis scolded softly. “Guests are guests. Their parents died in a car accident recently. Jasper wanted them to come here to relax and help out at the company. We’re all family; don’t be so hostile.”
Lara bit her lip and forced a smile. “I was rude just now. Welcome. What would you like for lunch? I’ll have the kitchen prepare it.”
She had calmed down and immediately assumed the posture of the only hostess of this manor, hoping the sisters would retreat in the face of difficulties.
Ridiculous!
Her father was in his forties or fifties, more than ten years older than Dana. How shameless of this woman to chase after him here!
People would do anything for money.
Jasper had really played his cards well!
The Bennett family had been declining for years. Now that Dana’s parents had died in an accident, the Bennett family had completely fallen. They could only rely on their looks to marry into a good family for a secure future. But Lara never expected these sisters to target her father.
Ha-Lara sneered inwardly. Ridiculous.
Dana looked at Louis sadly and then at Lara with a pitiful voice. “Lara, if you don’t welcome us, we’ll rent a place outside.”
Lara gritted her teeth. “How could I not welcome you? It’s freezing outside; come inside quickly.”
“Lara is very sensible. We’re all relatives; let’s go.” Louis said as he walked towards the main villa of the manor.
Lara turned and followed. The sisters exchanged glances and marveled at the vast manor. It was so luxurious and expansive.
They had never lived in such a big house!
The Bennett family had money but compared to the Fox family’s immense wealth; it was like comparing clouds to mud.
Marlie looked at Lara’s lofty back with jealousy. What was there to be proud of? She was just an adopted daughter.
But she was a lucky adopted daughter.
Donald was slightly surprised by the sisters’ arrival but quickly regained his composure. “Since you’re here, stay in the building behind the main house.”
Not staying in the main house?
Dana felt uncomfortable. How could she seduce these two men if they weren’t living together?
But she didn’t dare appear too eager and smiled instead. “We’ll follow Mr. Fox’s arrangements.”
“We don’t have many rules here; make yourselves at home,” Donald said before coughing violently and wrapping his thick home clothes tighter around himself. “I’m not feeling well; I’ll go rest.”
He then looked at Lara. “Lara, help these ladies settle in and make sure they have everything they need.”
“Don’t worry, Dad.” Lara felt secretly pleased. Look at that; my dad has seen all kinds of beauties! Do you think your average looks can seduce my dad?
My dad immediately arranged for you to stay elsewhere.
Hogan family villa.
Olivia entered the living room with her bag and bent down to change shoes at the entrance.
She threw her bag on the sofa and took a strawberry from the coffee table when Bryce and Dexter came downstairs upon hearing the noise.
“Got your driver’s license?” Dexter asked since Olivia had been taking driving lessons recently and should have passed by now.
“Yes.” Olivia nodded coldly. “Why?”
Bryce ignored her cold attitude and walked up to her with his fist outstretched. “Guess what’s in my hand?”
Olivia wasn’t interested. “I don’t want to guess.”
Say it or don’t.
Bryce was annoyed by her attitude but suppressed his temper and opened his hand to reveal a Ferrari key. “It’s for you.”
Olivia was surprised. “You’re being so kind?”
Bryce stood up helplessly. “Is it unusual for a brother to give his sister a gift?”
Dexter also came over and placed another Maserati key next to the Ferrari key. “I’m giving you one too; you can drive whichever you like.”
“If I wanted a car, my parents would buy one for me. I also have some savings myself. So… I don’t need your gifts.” Olivia remained uninterested and instinctively rejected her brothers who always looked at her like wolves.
Dexter and Bryce felt a pang in their chests; it hurt deeply.
Dexter’s voice carried a hint of pleading. “Olivia, isn’t it normal for brothers to give their sisters gifts?”
“But giving two cars at once is a bit unusual, isn’t it?” Olivia glanced at him. “You should save these cars for your future girlfriends.”
