MEL POV
I slowly opened my eyes adjusting to the bright light of what seemed to be a hospital room, I looked to the side and saw my mom sitting in a chair next to me and placed a palm on her chest
with relief when she saw me look at her.
“Melanie thank God” She sighed in relief gripping my hand in hers.
“What happened?” I croaked out rubbing my eyes.
“Charlotte called an ambulance for you, she said you fainted and I got here as quickly as I could and Charlotte stayed with you until I got here,” She explained and holding my hand tightened.
“We were so worried sweetie, I frowned and my eyes began to well up with tears, what the fuck is wrong with me I cry every second.
The doctor walked through the door before I could say anything and our heads turned to him “How are you feeling Melanie?” He asked.
“I’m okay now, I think,” I said.
“We ran some tests to see what the problem was, you’re perfectly healthy and the fall didn’t do any damage but you may have a headache for a few days which will wear off eventually,” He said to me.
“But we did find something which could’ve caused your burning up,” He says and my head tilts to the side.
“What did you find?” I ask worriedly and my mom is still holding my hand for reassurance.
Could it be something life-threatening? Could I have cancer?
“You’re pregnant”
A baby.
I have a fucking baby in my stomach, fear flooded throughout my body, my mind raced with questions and all I needed was answers which I could only answer myself.
“I can’t have a baby” I murmured “I can’t, I’m too young and I’m not even married or in a relationship and I’m not ready to be a parent and-”
“Melanie” My mom warns making me shut up, the look on her face shows she isn’t happy, she almost looks sad at the fact that I’m pregnant.
Of course, I’m not exactly happy either but I would’ve liked my mom to be more excited at the fact that I could be having a child.
Which I won’t.
“There are options like abortion but I would advise talking it through with the father before you do anything like that” He hands me a leaflet filled with information about what to do if you don’t want a baby.
“I’ll leave you two alone” He closes the door behind him and I turn to my mom who has a disappointed look spread across her face.
“I can’t say I’m excited about this baby Melanie” She sighed.
“You just started a job and had a fresh start and now some boy knocked you up?”
“Your dad is not gonna be happy about this” She murmured and dropped my head in defeat.
“who’s the father?” she asked.
The baby couldn’t be Connor’s he never came inside of me and even if he did, I was on birth control at that point anyway, it was only until a few days ago when Leo and I started having sex
that I forgot to take it which was really fucking dumb of me.
“Leo could be the father I blurted out and her head shot up in my direction.
“I thought you two broke up?” She questioned.
I didn’t tell Mom exactly what happened between Leo and me all she knows is that things ended and that’s all she needed to know.
My dad however never knew about Leo and me he just thought some random guy broke my heart and that’s all there was to it.
“Well he owns the building that I work at and we’re trying to get back together,” I told her and her face lit up.
“Oh honey that’s amazing, I hope you two can raise this baby together” Her tone was filled with excitement, I’m pretty sure the only reason she was disappointed was because she thought
a random guy got me pregnant At least with Leo, we could potentially get married.
“But I don’t want it Mom, I sulked slumping back in bed “I’m not having this baby, I want to wait until
marriage before I have a baby with him plus I just started my job, I’m not ready for this” I sighed and felt tears starting to form in my eyes.
“I just want to go home” I hugged my stomach and a tear fell from my eye.
” Melanie”
My head shot up at Leo who was standing outside the door with a bouquet in his hand.
He was wearing his normal work clothes which was a white fitted button-up shirt tucked into black slacks, I don’t know how he manages to look so sexy every day.
“Leo?” I wiped away my tears nonchalantly “You came to see me” I whispered followed by a heartwarming smile.
“Of course I did” He chuckled and my Mom looked at him, she loved Leo and I’m glad she approved of him instead of judging him since he is so much older than me.
“Sasha” He smiled when he noticed my mom pulling her in for a hug and then releasing her.
He then walked over to my bed and lifted his knuckle to caress my cheek.
“I’m so glad you’re okay baby” He leaned down pressing a soft kiss to my forehead then put the flowers on the table beside the bed.
“I should get going now,” Mom said breaking the tension I’ll call you later honey”
“Bye Mom” I waved her goodbye and she headed out the door closing it behind her.
“What happened? He sat down in the chair and guilt spread across his face and I could tell he felt sorry for not being there this morning.
“I just fainted, I didn’t drink enough water so that’s probably why” I lied and he seemed to believe it since he flashed me an understanding smile.
I’d rather not speak to Leo about the abortion, I know it’s cruel but if I tell him about it he won’t ever look at me the same again knowing I’m about to kill his child.
“I’m sorry I left, something happened at one of my hotels it was urgent” He held my hand up to his lips placing a soft kiss on my knuckle “You know I hated not being with you”
“Then why didn’t you come after your emergency?” I asked peering into his beautiful brown eyes.
“I thought you would need sleep, and I wouldn’t trust myself sleeping next to you especially when you wear nothing to bed” He smirked and I shoved his shoulder playfully.
“It’s fine” I shook it off.
“Is it?” He arched a brow.
“Yes it is But if you ever leave me again, I will cut off your balls.
“I would never leave you, my love”
