A waiter came and served them appetizers just in time to disrupt the awkward silence.
“sister-in-law…” Ying Xiaoxiao glanced at Rosiley and then glanced at Ying Xiaoxiao. She frowned slightly and hesitated a little. “Brother Corey’s girlfriend, what would you guys like to eat?”
Brother Corey’s girlfriend?
Ying Xiaoxiao raised her brows slightly. That title was quite a mouthful.
Ying Xiaoxiao smiled at Ying Xiaoxiao. “Just call me sister Xiaoxiao.”
“Okay, sister Xiaoxiao.” Ying Xiaoxiao smiled at her.
“sister-in-law, you guys can order whatever you want.”
Corey asked a waiter for two more menus.
Having been silent all along, Sachin said to Rosiley gently, “If you’re hungry, you can have mine first.”
“Big Brother, you’re only willing to say such a long sentence when it comes to your wife.” Corey smiled and teased.
The whole way from the office to Sea Galaxy, Corey and Xiaoxiao had been talking non-stop. At most, Sachin would respond with single syllables like “hmm” or “oh.” He simply could not be bothered to interact with them.
Even though he had not seen Xiaoxiao for several years, he did not feel any excitement, and he was being as reserved as usual.
But it was a given. Sachin would behave like a normal human being only in front of his wife, rather than a big, unapproachable iceberg.
“Corey, there’s something you don’t understand! Your brother understands the value of words, and he will only use them in front of people he cares for. Otherwise, they would just be a waste!” Rosiley glanced sideways at Corey, and her lips curled into a faint arc.
That was called ‘The Arc of Triumph.’
“Yes, she is right. Sachin only cares for his wife. Talking to us is a waste of his energy.”
Pretending to feel helpless, Corey shook his head and sighed. “As his closest younger brother, I feel so pitiful.”
At this, both Rosiley and Ying Xiaoxiao could not hold back their laughter.
Ying Xiaoxiao frowned. “So, I’m not someone Brother Sachin cares about? No wonder he doesn’t want to talk to me.”
Her tone carried a tint of dissatisfaction and disappointment.
Rosiley glanced at her from the corner of her eye. Seeing that she looked a little upset, she quickly explained, “Xiaoxiao, don’t take it seriously, We are just joking with Corey.”
“Joking?” Ying Xiaoxiao’s frown deepened.
“Yea, we’re joking.” Rosiley smiled and nodded. Then, she explained, “Sachin doesn’t show his care and concern through the number of words he says to a person. His character is slightly colder, and sometimes he doesn’t show it when he cares for someone.”
“Really?” Ying Xiaoxiao’s glance drifted to Sachin, only to see him staring tenderly at Rosiley. A wave of pain hit her heart, and she lowered her eyelashes to cover the emotions in her eyes. She put on a grin and said, “So that’s why! Then I don’t need to feel upset anymore.”
Rosiley did not sense the abnormality in her and continued to smile. “Yes, there’s no need to be upset.”
Ying Xiaoxiao stared at Ying Xiaoxiao thoughtfully. Then, she turned to Corey and asked, “Have you guys known each other for a long time?”
Corey nodded. “Hmm, she’s Chu Yuan’s cousin. So, you could say that we all grew up together.”
Grew up together? Then their relationship was self-evident.
Ying Xiaoxiao thought in a low hum before curling her lips and saying softly, “Xiaoxiao.”
“Hmm?” Ying Xiaoxiao looked up.
“Do you have a boyfriend?” Ying Xiaoxiao was smiling. Although it seemed like a question out of concern, It still had a tint of probing.
Ying Xiaoxiao was startled. “I don’t have a boyfriend.”
“You don’t?” Ying Xiaoxiao’s eyes lit up. Then, she said fervently, “Then let me introduce someone to you!”
At her overly passionate expression, a tint of disgust flashed quickly across Ying Xiaoxiao’s eyes. She shook her head gently. “No need, thank you sister Xiaoxiao.”
Her tone seemed distanced and no longer as passionate as before.
