Chapter 99
POV: Queen Tamara Pierce
She opened her eyes as she felt a hand caress her hair, and she turned to face Hades, who only gave her a small and weak smile.
“Hades!” She abruptly cried as she gave him a tight hug.
Hades slightly grunted and she quickly removed her embrace. Her eyes widened when she realized how clumsy she was!
“Oh! I’m sorry… I just… I…” Her eyes welled up as she looked at Hades gently caressing her cheek.
She bit her lower lip as her tears fell and she firmly closed her eyes. Her hormones were truly making her more sensitive and emotional.
However, she couldn’t stop herself from getting too emotional because Hades was now awake. She was so worried about him.
“Shhh…” He soothed her as his thumb wiped her tears away.
She opened her eyes and stared lovingly at him.
“I thought I will l-lose you. I am s-so scared.” She finally admitted her vulnerability.
Hades swallowed hard as he slightly shook his head.
“You will never lose me, wife. I will do whatever it takes to always find my way back to you. I will always find my way to you.” He softly replied his words were clenching her heart in gratefulness and happiness.
Tamara smiled at him even despite the tears that kept on falling from her eyes.
She knew that he would always do that for him, and she would, too. Whatever happened, they would always find their way back to each other.
Tamara heaved a deep sigh as Tamika made sure that Hades was already fine. He just needed to rest now. At least her worries had already been lifted off her shoulders.
She went out to find Tamika. She wanted to talk to her.
However, the moment she saw her, she was with Shanaia in the receiving area the farthest part. They were both talking about something serious that she couldn’t stop herself from eavesdropping.
“Are you sure about it?” Shanaia inquired using her serious and cold voice.
Tamika kept her silence before she let out a deep sigh.
“I hope not. But you know me. There were always fragments of the future that wouldn’t complete what I saw. In the meantime, let’s just let it unfold. I don’t want to make an abrupt decision about this. This is a much more serious matter.” Tamika simply replied her voice was colder, causing her spine to shiver.
They both kept their silence as she finally revealed her presence. The two just looked at each other exchanging their meaningful gazes.
She didn’t want to be suspicious, but she couldn’t help it. Especially since Raven wasn’t a hundred percent trusting of them which should have had a better reason why. He wasn’t like that if he had no better reason than what he had in mind.
Tamara knew that it was not a good idea. It wasn’t a good thing to feel suspicious towards Tamika and Shanaia, but she couldn’t help it. She didn’t want to take a risk, especially not right now that they were in a crucial situation.
She cleared her throat.
“I believe you want to share the fragments of the future that you are talking about, Tamika.” She seriously commented.
Shanaia’s eyes slightly widened, but Tamika remained calm and collected as if she already knew that she would ask her that.
By any means, she wanted to think about how powerful her gift was. She could control the things that she wanted to do especially when the future that she saw wasn’t aligned with what she wanted to happen. She could be immortal and win by any means necessary. She could be unstoppable and unbeatable.
‘But she isn’t like that…’ A part of her mind stated inside her head.
Yes, she and Shanaia had proven themselves to them. And she couldn’t feel any hint of inconsistencies or anything bad about them. They had proven that they wanted to help them.
Nevertheless, on the other hand, she couldn’t stop thinking about Raven’s words.
What if they were just doing it to gain their trust?
What if in the end, they just betray them?
She was so scared about what happened to Hades, and it wasn’t helping her that Raven was becoming more doubtful of them.
Tamika heaved a deep sigh as she slightly shook her head.
“How can I share something when all of my words can make you overthink more, Your Grace.” She told her using her low and cold voice.
Her forehead creased, but a small smile escaped from her lips. It was a humorless smile, at that.
“Your suspicions and qualms towards us as well as Prince Raven are intensifying that maybe, we should stop fighting with fate now. Because I don’t want to interfere with someone’s fate, who doesn’t have trust in me anymore.” She continued, and Tamara felt like she was so embarrassed by what she had told her.
She felt ashamed because it seemed as if she had nothing to gain from everything she had done, but here she was still helping them with no payback.
They were the ones who gained a lot from them, but she was the one making apprehensive accusations inside her head. She felt like she had failed to self-reflect and to weigh things.
Tamara was about to say something when Shanaia interjected.
“Maybe you can just show yourself from the shadows. I believe that you have something to say, either.” Shanaia commented.
Her brows twitched as she saw Raven stepping out of the darkest part of the receiving area.
Raven chuckled at Shanaia’s cold remarks.
“You must have a great sense to discover that I am there. I tried my best not to be seen even Hades and Tamara find it hard to know.” He suddenly turned serious as he said those words.
But Shanaia just chuckled at Raven’s words.
“Because I am trained differently. Even though I can’t shift into a wolf, my senses were trained as yours far worse than yours, to be exact. I can sense people even for a few miles far more than what you can do. I am not relying on my nose and eyes alone. I am not relying just on my feelings but going deeper than that. Until I can finally feel everything even the slight movement on the ground.” Shanaia patiently explained.
Tamika heaved a deep sigh.
“I know why you are getting suspicious and that is your choice to make. We are just here because we thought that you needed help. But we aren’t closing our doors to leave, and if you want, we can leave now… in peace. We aren’t enemies here and we are facing a much more chaotic scenario which if I were the one to choose, I’d rather keep my eyes open, and my ears shut.” She seriously stated.
“And Shanaia just keeps her senses low. She wasn’t yet using her full potential. She didn’t want to know a lot more details than what was laid in front of her.” She coldly added.
Tamara was dumbfounded.
She couldn’t believe that she would find a woman as powerful as them.
“If that’s so, then, it will be a good thing for you to stay with us… for now. If you are really not our enemies, you will continue helping us. You cannot blame us for being suspicious towards you especially since we haven’t achieved victory yet. And like you said, it is our choice to choose that path.” Raven smirked at his own words.
Now, Tamara’s eyes were open he was being playful with them.
Shanaia glared at Raven, who was just grinning at them.
“Anyway, I am sorry that I made you feel that way, but I believe you should stay here with us for now… at least.” She hopingly stated.
Tamika heaved a deep sigh before she nodded her head.
“If that’s what you want, Your Grace.” She carefully replied.
She looked at Shanaia as she crossed her arms in front of her chest.
“I don’t have a choice but to be with Tamika.” She shortly said she was truly annoyed that she couldn’t blame her at that.
“Anyway-”
Before she could continue her words, Kage suddenly barged into the receiving area.
His face was mournful and in pain as if he was lost somewhere.
“What happened to you?” Raven asked her an unspoken question.
Kage swallowed hard as his eyes welled up. He slowly shook his head.
“My m-mother…” He lowly whispered but every one of them could hear him.
“She’s… She’s dead…” He brokenly declared as she gasped for air.
Her eyes widened with her mouth going agape at the words that he had just said.
“W-What? What did you s-say?” Raven asked for the second time.
Perhaps, he was also trying to know whether they heard him right.
“My m-mother, L-Lamina… she’s d-dead.” Kage finally confirmed, and every one of them became silent.
She didn’t know what to do or how to react to what he had just told them.
However, Hades who had just gone near them had already heard his brother’s words.
“What did you say?” He seriously said.
She instantly went near him to assist him, but he just held her hand while the other was on his chest. He might be looking for her.
“L-Lamina is dead, Your M-Majesty.” Kage mournfully repeated, as a lone tear escaped from his eyes.
With that, everyone was shocked at the revelation.
Hades, on the other hand, cleared his throat as he commanded to arrest the other alliances as well as Cessair.
But Kage shook his head.
“I already captured each of them even that Cessair, who killed my mother! They are on the ground.” He furiously stated.
She was stunned.
Cessair killed his wife, Lamina?
She couldn’t believe that he could do that to her. He was so in love with Lamina that he could beg and od everything she wanted whatever it took him, so why?
They decided to go to the vast field as they finally confirmed that Kage was saying it right. Cessair and a lot of their alliances were already captured. They were pleading for mercy, but Hades, Raven, and Kage were just gritting their teeth and clenching their hands into balled fists to contain their anger.
“You deserved death, Cessair.” Hades suddenly blurted out causing Cessair to look at him.
He looked so miserable and lost. His eyes were swollen and his face reflecting too much stressed and agony.
But Tamara suddenly felt very uneasy. Her nose suddenly became itchy, and she suddenly smelled rotten things.
Cessair chuckled as he stared at the King in the most furious way possible.
“You! You all Royal Bloods are to blame for everything!” He suddenly yelled in such fury.
Before anyone could even react to his words, he suddenly shouted in pain as he dropped a small tube onto whick a small purple liquid had poured on the ground.
He must have drunk that stuff!
Her eyes widened in both fear and shock, when Cessair suddenly collapsed with his knees on the ground.
He grunted in pain as his body became massive and hairy he had just turned into a gigantic lycanthrope!
“Oh, my God!” She lowly whispered under her breath as they all saw him in both shock and fear.
“How the heck?” Even Raven blurted out as they all watched as Cessair let out a loud growl frightening everyone around them.
