Chapter 80
POV: King Hades Pierce
“So, who is this woman? Why does she need to be here?” He seriously inquired.
Silence enveloped amidst them.
The moment he saw the two women beside Arlan, he knew that they weren’t just simple women. They seemed peculiar and too furtive which he didn’t like. He needed to uncover their identities first. Besides, they would be talking about an important matter, which didn’t concern this woman or that was what he thought of.
“They are the ones who saved me from the South Side, Your Majesty. They seemed to know a lot of things, but they didn’t want to disclose them to me. They are also living in the deepest part of the South Side. I can’t pinpoint their real motive for helping me get here.” Arlan anxiously replied.
He looked at the woman, who seemed like a lifeless doll standing in front of them with an unreadable expression on her face.
“So, who are you?” He directly asked her.
The woman smiled coldly at him, but the emotions never reached her eyes.
“With all due respect, Your Majesty, I believe that you first need to hear Mr. Arlan’s report about what was happening on the South Side. It is more important than my identity here which I can tell you about later. What I can say for now is that we are here for one thing and that is to help you.” She softly stated and slightly bowed down her head in respect.
“Why wouldn’t you just tell them?” Arlan irritably inquired.
He might be frustrated by now because he didn’t know anything about these mysterious women. Knowing Arlan, he wouldn’t stay put unless he knew what he was looking for. He was persistent at that. One of his qualities that made him his second in command.
“Too impatient. Will you just chill and just spill what you know about the South Side. It wasn’t as if I didn’t know it yet.” The woman calmly replied.
But Arlan’s annoyance grew more not even Kage was throwing deadly glares at the woman because of her stubbornness, but he had no time for this.
He raised his index finger to hush every one of them.
“Whatever it is that you are trying to hide, I am not that curious for now. I am more interested in what is happening in the South. Besides, if you do something funny, I’ll just simply cut your heads off.” He simply warned her before he stared at Arlan.
“So, speak.” He authoritatively commanded, but Arlan seemed doubtful because of Kage’s presence.
“Just speak, Arlan, I don’t have time for your questions.” He impatiently commented.
Arlan nervously cleared his throat before he started speaking.
“Y-Your Majesty…” He anxiously stated.
“On the South Side, the Dark Wood Pack had been doing experiments regarding the rogues. They’ve already built an army of it.” He seriously told him.
King Hades gritted his teeth as Arlan confirmed it.
“An army, huh? So, it isn’t just a simple small group. Interesting. What else?” He further inquired.
“They are also guarding all of the posts on the South Side. The thing is, the rogues who were with them, are far s-stronger than me. I also saw some l-lycan, close to your form.” He shakingly explained.
Fear was evident in his voice.
Who wouldn’t?
Those creatures were really creepy to begin with.
Silence filled that air, and so did the tension that was slowly building between them.
“I also saw the Beta of the Dark Wood Pack and Aeron lurking around a small bungalow house on the Eastern part, but the rogues weren’t attacking them. Aeron was injecting something into the rogues, and then, they suddenly became disoriented or something making their eyes become bloody red. Their bodies became larger than those of an average wolf. At some point, some of the rogues aren’t responding to whatever that liquid was, and they will eventually explode. But the others, they were successfully being controlled by that Darkwood boy.” Arlan seriously explained.
He seemed like he was struggling to elucidate everything to them anymore. But he needed more information about the South Side.
“Do you know what he is injecting into them?” He darkly asked, but Arlan simply shook his head.
“I apologize, Your Majesty, but that is all I know. A rogue suddenly attacked me. I can also confirm that their claws had some sort of poison. Wait, there’s something odd about that part.” His brows furrowed.
“What is it?” He followed up.
“I can’t even sense his attack. I know my qualities; I have a higher sense than an average wolf. However, I couldn’t smell the rogue and even couldn’t hear their movements, too.” Arlan disappointedly continued.
He shot Raven a knowing glare, and he discreetly nodded his head.
Now, at least they have already confirmed it.
“And what’s more strange than this is that…” Arlan seriously added as his eyes pointed towards where the weird woman was.
“…even Tamika and Shanaia. They had the same effect on me.” He said those words more of an accusation of the possibility that they must be related to something.
“What do you mean?” He clenched his jaw as his eyes never left those lifeless purple eyes of the woman.
“I can’t smell the rogues with bloody eyes, Your Majesty and even Tamika and Shanaia have the same effect on me. Their movements are also superb that I couldn’t hear any of it while I was staying with them.” He coldly replied as all of their eyes darted towards Tamika who seemed unbothered by them.
“Care to explain about that.” He seriously commanded her this time.
“Because Shanaia and I were both special, Your Majesty.” She plainly responded as she never faltered whether she was surrounded by men, who could just kill her in a snap.
“Explain further.” Hades seriously demanded her.
“Before I continue answering your question, Your Majesty, I just want to ask Arlan if he still has more to say, because if not, he needs to go out and someone needs to tend his wound. He had lost a lot of blood already while we were traveling and staying here for another minute won’t do him any good.” She coldly replied instead.
They all looked at her like heads were already popping into her neck and she chuckled.
“But if you insist…” She coldly added, but he raised his hand to stop her.
“Arlan, just go to the infirmary, for now.” King Hades commanded as he called for the sentinels guarding outside the door and assisted Arlan towards the infirmary even though he was insisting on staying.
He suddenly weakened and almost went face to face with the floor, if not for the sentinel wolves that were assisting him.
King Hades acted like he was unbothered by everything that Arlan had told them. But the truth was, he was just hiding his amusement at what the woman had just said that about Arlan. The moment his second in command was out of sight, he directly stared at the woman.
Then, he suddenly remembered something.
“Is this the annoying creature, you are talking about, Kage?” He suddenly commented as he looked at Kage, who seemed shocked and embarrassed at his sudden remark.
“What the hell, dude?!” Kage suddenly blurted out shock was visible in his voice.
Raven just chuckled on the side.
“Now, can you tell us who you are now. I believe I still need to thank you for saving my wife.” He smilingly said as he leaned against his golden throne.
The woman let out a mischievous smirk.
“Well, firstly, this annoying creature here has a name, Your Majesty.” The woman playfully stated.
“My name is Tamika Aibek, and I am hoping that what I am going to tell you now must stay and only here. It shouldn’t be known by anyone.” She seriously added.
Although he could feel like something was truly off with the woman, and he knew that Kage and Raven could feel it, too.
“Fine. Just spill.” He boredly replied.
Tamika let out a deep breath before she stared directly at him.
“Shanaia is a wolfless woman who has undergone deadly training until she became so fond of using a katana. She had to keep her senses up, as well as her swift movements. She has been living with me for a while now. The reason why Arlan couldn’t hear her movements.” She calmly explained.
“But is a wolf?” He simply pushed her into revealing what she was trying to hide because he knew that there was more.
“Yes, Your Majesty. But she couldn’t summon her inner wolf anymore. As for the reason of not smelling us…” She continued.
“I have invented a medicine that could make your odor be covered by the aroma of a strong-scented flower. But it could only last for thirty to an hour at most.” She plainly added.
“So, you are a salutary wolf.” Hades briefly commented.
Tamika let out a small smile, but the moment she stared at him; her aura turned into a perilous one.
“You can say that, Your Majesty, but there’s more than that.” She ominously responded.
“Because I received the glimpse of the future a gift from the moon goddess. I am here not to make sure that you succeed in this war, but only to guide you and get through the possible things that you must avoid doing. This is a message and a blessing from the moon goddess.” Her unexpected revelation just shocked the hell out of them.
“W-What did you say?” He asked once more like his ears were just playing with him.
“I am a seer, Your Majesty.” Tamika replied confirming what they just heard.
“A seer?” Kage lowly whispered as they stared at the woman with disbelief.
