Chapter 61
POV: Prince Raven Pierce
He didn’t know if it was just his lucky self that he had surpassed the death that was already waving at him. He might be a fortunate *sshole, then.
Prince Raven closed his eyes as he heard the door open and close afterwards, but he just pretended to be sleeping.
“Stop pretending to be asleep.” His brother’s deep and threatening voice had reached his ears.
He let out a deep sigh before opening his eyes once again.
“The plan failed.” King Hades’ voice snapped his head to where his brother was standing.
“What the heck happened?” He asked using his hoarse voice.
His brother’s hands curled into balled fists.
“I went into the South Side.” King Hades menacingly explained.
His mouth went agape.
“What the f*ck! You went there alone!” His worry suddenly intensified.
Surely his brother was unbeatable, but that operation was totally dangerous even to him. They didn’t know what the enemies had invented and how far had they already succeeded in their inventions.
He clenched his fists ignoring the throbbing pain from his wounds.
“I wasn’t alone. Arlan is with me.” He seriously stated like it was just not a big deal to him.
He rolled his eyes at him.
“And?” He squinted his eyes as he directly stared at him.
“They kept their laboratory well. I couldn’t find it. But I’ve seen vials near the south and east bounds. I gave it to Elder Zeparu and Dreyson.” He simply replied.
Prince Raven let out a deep sigh as he tried to contemplate something.
“I am thinking…” He licked his lips as he looked out at the window, where the curtains where dancing with the wind.
“A mole is trying to dig a hole.” He implicitly said as he shot him a knowing look.
King Hades raised his left brow.
“I know that this might have slipped into your mind because of what happened to Tamara. But I believe something on our end had been trying to feed the enemies some information.” He seriously told him.
They suddenly turned into a deep silent.
“You wouldn’t come up with that particular idea if you didn’t have something in mind.” King Hades darkly said as he narrowed his eyes while intently looking at him.
Prince Raven let out a deep sigh.
“To be honest, I still haven’t figured out who it was. I am closed in finding it, but this happened. So, I am back to square one.” He annoyingly stated.
“Just tell me, who you’re trying to spy on.” King Hades pressingly told him, but he just smirked at him.
“Just leave that to me, brother. I’m sure you didn’t want your mind to be tainted by my words, right? Besides, it is still a hunch. You mustn’t be too suspicious towards them, or else, they will surely act thoroughly this time. So, no, I won’t tell you who they are. Just be cautious this time. Treat everyone as a traitor.” Prince Raven smirkingly replied.
He darkly gritted his teeth as to how stubborn his brother was. Well, King Hades thought that he might be right. He must not give it to him for now.
Besides, he must also watch everyone around him.
“And by the way, I heard that you beat a salutary wolf, you needed to authorize him to check it.” Prince Raven seriously told him after a short while of silence.
When his brother heard what he said, his forehead instantly creased as he shot him a death glare.
“And why would I do that?” He irritatedly inquired.
“Whoa! Whoa! What is that sudden change of mood?” He squinted his eyes as he intently stated at the King, who seemed to get annoyed at him more.
“Wait, wait, are you?” Prince Raven suddenly seemed enlightened and teased him.
Then, he chuckled when an idea came to his mind.
“Oh, goodness brother. Are you? Really?” He unbelievably commented as a playful smirk still pasted in his lips.
“Stop telling such preposterous words, Raven.” King Hades serious and cold voice made him smile wider.
He just shrugged his both shoulders and slightly shook his head.
“By the way, be careful of Tamara. She would be carrying your heir anytime soon. You have consummated your marriage, right?” He seriously reminded him.
King Hades hissed at him.
“Stop telling things about Tamara or our relationship, Raven. Or I will end your life right here and then.” He suddenly turned furious at his words which made him more bewildered as to why his brother was acting so… bothered.
“Why? You must be aware of this, right? She is the sacred emissary, and you married her because of it. She is the target now, brother. Don’t be a fool and take care of her.” He carefully said that it was the safest words to say.
“I know, right!” His voice was in high pitch as he said those words.
“And I am trying my best to protect her now.” His voice suddenly turned a softer one as he looked away trying to mask his resurfacing emotions from him.
But he knew better.
He knew his brother well.
And he knew that he had loved Tamara for so long now.
“If that’s the case, then. Tell her your feelings, too.” He coldly said.
The atmosphere became heavy and cold all of a sudden.
“Do not let your pride get the most out of you. You must tell her what you feel, or you will regret it later on.” He gloomily stated.
Now, it was the king’s turn to smirk at him.
“Why? Is that based on experience, Raven?” He teasingly commented.
He just scoffed and rolled his eyes at him because of too much irritation.
“Just do it, while it isn’t still too late.” He coldly added and looked at the window where a number of trees were standing proudly as they covered the streaks of light from above.
Yes.
He was regretful, and he didn’t want his brother to get the same fate as him.
Prince Raven firmly closed his eyes as he remembered his dream in his mind. He harshly bit his lower lip to stop the raging emotions that were trying to resurface.
“Is there something wrong with you?” King Hades’ voice had pulled him out of his reverie.
He instantly shook his head as he masked the pain and melancholy through a stoic face.
“Nothing. But you must do something about what happened on the South Side.” He suddenly more focused as they talked about their next move and plans hand in hand.
Yes.
In the eyes of everyone around them, they might be a huge barrier between them.
But it was just an act to lure the enemies. Because of that, a lot of packs had slowly been punished and ended. But the most cunning and treacherous had still lingered in the midst of them.
Which they still had to eradicate.
Prince Raven that it wasn’t too late. And if it was, he was willing to give his life, just to pull back the time and punish them. He would do it. He would surely do it because they were the ones, who had put Shahara into her tragic demise.
He gritted his teeth as he remembered his one and only love.

POV: Tamara Pierce
She slowly sat on her own bed as she felt both exhaustion and pain lingering in her every vein. She harshly bit her lower lip as her eyes blurred with unshed tears.
A pang of agony was making her breathe uneven as she held her chest up because of the throbbing pain.
***Flashback…
“By the way, be careful of Tamara. She would be carrying your heir anytime soon. You have consummated your marriage, right?”
Raven’s voice resonated into her ears. She was at the end of the hallway, but she could already hear the voices in that slightly opened door. It wasn’t surprising, though. She had already enhanced senses and Raven’s room was the only room found in that hallway.
She heard that Hades had gone to his brother’s room, and so she decided to stop by. Her parents were still mad at Raven, and she was, too. But a part of her also wanted to check on him.
Besides, she wouldn’t deny the fact that her sister loved Raven even if he had hurt her in the past.
She heard Hades hiss at him.
“Stop telling things about Tamara or our relationship, Raven. Or I will end your life right here and then.”
She could hear ferocity and fury in his voice.
But it just made her gloomier.
He didn’t even contradict Raven’s words about her being taken care of for an heir.
But Tamara still continued eavesdropping as she weakly leaned against the wall. Surely, it wasn’t her thing to eavesdrop, but her feet remained glued to the ground. As if she had lost her strength to walk away.
“Why? You must be aware of this, right? She is the sacred emissary, and you married her because of it. She is the target now, brother. Don’t be a fool and take care of her.” Raven carefully said.
“I know, right!” Hades replied in high pitch, as if he was so annoyed by his brother’s voice.
***End of Flashback…
Tamara couldn’t take what he just simply said to Raven and that she had run away at that place and went towards her own room.
She couldn’t hide the disappointment that was lingering inside her. She shouldn’t be. In fact, Raven’s words only bear the truth. But it was hurting her within.
Tamara couldn’t deny the fact that she was in pain because she was hoping for something more.
She was hoping that it wasn’t her title as the sacred emissary that made Hades marry her.
She was hoping that it wasn’t her duty that he had to choose her.
She was hoping for something else.
Tamara stared at the ceiling as she tried to stop her tears from falling from her eyes.
It might be too wicked of her to ask for more. It might be really too cruel of her to want something deeper and something more special from the King.
But still her heart had hope that she was.
That she was worth something more special not because she was the sacred emissary and destined to be the King’s mate.
But in the end, it was still a slap in her face.
She was born to live this life.
She was born to fall for someone who couldn’t see her beyond her title and her duty.
And she was just too in denial.
She was too blind for the past few days that what they had shared was something different and special.
But she was wrong.
She was just a simple woman, and if she wasn’t a scared emissary maybe, Hades wouldn’t even take a glance at her.
Tamara felt her heart sink at her own thoughts.
