The news of Ivy’s accident has spread like wildfire. The media never gave up on finding updates on her health. They swarmed the hospital, and the management was fed up with their pestering. They would roam around the premises, sometimes of the day, checking to see if anyone related to her exited or entered the hospital so they could get an interview.
A blue car halted at the parking deck, the media were alert as their eyes shifted to the new arrival. They immediately recognized the car’s driver. Susan stepped out, her mind a blur as all her focus was on Ivy. Ever since the news of her accident, she had been trying to reach her, and now when she discovered the hospital she was admitted to, she rushed down to see if she was alright. Due to her being unsettled, she didn’t realize a swamp of reporters was gathered at the entrance, all coming over to her direction.
She was surrounded by the crowd and had no way to squirm away, so she opted to play along, give answers, and hurry to see Ivy.
She faced them while their microphones and cameras were at the ready, their lights flicking.
“Can you please update us on her health, it’s been two days since the accident…” One of them asked, their voices eager and insistent.
“When she recovers, updates will be given to the media, I assure you,” Susan responded, her answer straight and concise.
“Since she hasn’t recovered, do you think she has a serious health issue?” Another asked, and the particular question caused a frown to appear on Susan’s face.
‘It’s obvious they want bad news,’ Susan remarked inwardly, not wanting to continue with the interview.
“No, I definitely don’t think so,” she replied, ready to leave, but more questions were thrown at her. She sighed a bit frustrated but briefly answered them, inching to get away from them as soon as possible.
While they continued interviewing her, another car drove to the premises and parked beside Susan’s car. A lady shrouded in a hoody descended from her car; her gaze fell on the sea of reporters, and thankfully they were all very busy at the moment, so she had a chance to navigate her way out of the crowd unnoticed.
She approached the receptionist and asked a few questions before receiving directions.
“Ma’am, you have a visitor…” A nurse notified Ivy, who was currently resting on her bed. She sat up, wondering who it might be then her mind crossed Susan. Concluding it was her, Ivy nodded, motioning for the guest to be allowed in.
The door opened, revealing the person she wasn’t expecting at all.
“Anna?” Ivy’s lips curved up in a bright smile, her eyes shimmered with surprise as Anna walked over to her bed.
“Oh my god, you look frail…” Anna said in a playful jeer, crossing her arms as she took her time checking her out.
“Stop with the sarcasm, okay…” Ivy replied, and they enveloped in an embrace.
Immediately they pulled away, Ivy noticed what she was wearing, her eyes wandering all over her trying to ascertain her reason for the choice of clothes. “Why are you dressed up like a ninja?” She chuckled, holding in her laughter.
Anna’s eyebrow furrowed as she sat beside her. “It’s a hoody…” She emphasized, tugging her zipper. “How could you be so clueless, the reason why celebrities will do silly at times is all because of the media.”
Ivy face-palmed herself, shaking her head in amusement. “You’re the one who chose to be silly, okay, there are other ways to avoid them.”
“Really? Are there any? Then why didn’t your manager come up with a way to avoid them; in case you don’t know, she is having a hard time out there,” Anna scoffed, hinting about Susan’s arrival.
“I was wondering what was taking her so long,” Ivy said, imagining the kind of pressure she must be getting from the reporters especially since they hadn’t seen her in her current state. They would be curious if she was in a terrible situation; who knows, rumors might spring up claiming her death. Netizens were sometimes frightening.
“By the way what’s up with the tight security. They refused to let me see you unless they did a full and thorough body check. I cringed…” Anna said, her face scrunched up.
“Sorry about that, hope you understand it’s for security reasons, don’t want to go into details…” Ivy replied with a wry smile, apparently not willing to explain further.
Anna slowly nodded, tempted to press further with another question but seeing the look on Ivy’s face, she decided against it. After all, she had tried asking once, but Ivy changed the subject. “Ok, get better soon. Because if you don’t appear in public soon, they might think you’re dead.”
“Yeah, I thought so too,” Ivy chuckled, truly enjoying Anna’s company. “Thanks for visiting, I didn’t expect you to come since you had your schedules full.”
Anna shrugged casually. “I was worried, that’s why I came, there was no news about how you’re faring so it scared me a little.”
Just then, Susan entered the room with a frown on her face and angrily shut the door behind her. “What’s wrong with you people, what kind of…” She paused, grunting, before lightening up when her gaze fell on the duo. “Oh, sorry.”
“What happened?” Ivy asked, unsure what got her so angry. “The media?”
“Your bodyguards treat me as if I am a threat to national security,” Susan murmured, glancing at the door, her anger still palpable.
Ivy sensed her discomfort and quickly apologized. “I’m sorry…”
“No, you shouldn’t be. It’s for your own good, don’t mind me,” Susan immediately brushed the subject off, thinking she might have overreacted.
Anna was now certain something was off; the security was tighter than before, which made her more curious to know if Ivy was in some kind of serious danger. And she didn’t seem to be ready to tell her anything. First, it was her sudden illness after one of the fight shoot, then the next day the police visited for interrogation. When she finally returned to the set, she got estourages following her around. Then after the accident, their numbers were doubled if not more.
She felt like inquiring again to be clear but still decided against it, respecting her boundaries. She concluded it might be a sensitive topic not needed to be underscore.
“I’m so glad you look to be recovering,” Susan’s voice broke Anna out of her thoughts. “Thank god I got scared; the wreckage from the scene of the accident was awful.”
Ivy sighed. “I’m surprised I came out of that in one piece…” Her voice trailed as her mind recalled her ordeal, remembering how afraid she was and how anxious Louis was…
‘I wonder if Louis is okay…’
