Nicholas POV
THE NEXT DAY
“Firstly I want everyone to take a good look at the three proposals again and get back to me tomorrow. That will be all, you can all go home” I said, my voice filled with excitement as my employees looked at me in disbelief.
“Sir, do you mean we are over for the day?” A male employee asked, his voice low.
“Yes yes, of course, everyone should go home and spend time with their families and friends. Tomorrow you come back to work” I said and they all whispered, happiness evident on their faces
“Thank you sir” they uttered in unison, bowing their heads slightly before rushing out of the conference room in excitement.
“You seem to be in a good mood,” Anthony said, his gaze on me as he narrowed his eyes and scanned my face “Spit it out Nicholas” he ordered, his voice sharp but calm.
“Is it that obvious?” I asked shocked that he noticed my expression.
“You just told your employees that they could take the remaining days off. You think that is normal?” Anthony asked, raising an eyebrow
“Isn’t it?” I asked back.
“Of course not. You always make your employees work overtime and you never let them have days off except on Saturdays and Sundays so I’m shocked that you told them to take the remaining days off at eleven am” Anthony said and I stared at him in shock
“What!” I exclaimed, finally realizing that I had given them that permission too quickly.
“What is it, Nicholas? You were very bright and smiled often during the meeting and I knew something or someone was responsible for that” Anthony said and I remembered Monica.
A smile appeared across my lips as I remembered Monica’s smile, her laughter, her touch, and the one that kept ringing in my head, her moans.
“It’s nothing Buddy. I’m just Happy” I said but he gave me a suspicious look.
“You’re just happy? Then do you mind telling me who the source of this happiness is?” Anthony asked, his gaze bold and I knew he wasn’t going to drop the topic
“Fine” I sighed as I leaned on my chair, relaxing more in it “It’s Monica”
“Monica? Like your wife Monica?” I nodded and he stared at me in disbelief “You mean the Monica I know” he asked again and I just decided to ignore him.
“But how is that possible? You haven’t seen her all these while and you’ve been comfortable about it. You don’t talk about her and you’re always sad whenever I talk about her so how are you suddenly happy because of her?” Anthony asked and I shifted my gaze from my phone back to him
“We had sex_”
“What!” Anthony yelled, rising to his feet with his eyes growing wide “You had what?” he added, not letting me finish whatever I wanted to say
“Why are you behaving like a drama queen? Seat quietly and let me explain” I said, a frown on my face.
“We’ve had sex like two times now and it’s been memorable”
“Does she remember you now? Is her memories back? I thought she hated us and believed Ethan. How come I’m just hearing about all of these now” Anthony asked, not even waiting for me to give a reply to each of his questions.
“Her memories aren’t back but she now believed me, she believes us, Anthony. She believes that I’m her husband and Ethan is her ex. She no longer hates us and she now knows the truth” I said, explaining the little I could explain.
“But how come the sudden change of heart?” he asked, curiosity etched on his face
“She found a book that she wrote some things on while she still had her memories. It was like a three-page diary and it was delivered to her house some days back. She read through it instantly and called me instantly with her old phone which I handed over to her” I said.
“So where is she now? Is she back home? She ought to be back home with you, with us” Anthony asked, wanting to know more.
“She isn’t home yet Anthony. I told her to stay with Ethan and pretend in the meantime”
“What! Why? Are you nuts?” Anthony yelled again and I glared at him
“You’re the one asking for answers and also the one yelling and trying to pull the roof down,” I said, glaring at him.
“I’m sorry,” he said then continued “It’s just that I’m trying to understand what you’re saying” he added.
“Monica is still with Ethan because she is pretending to be with him. I want her to help me gather any information on Ethan and Mia. They’re supposed to be behind bars like Greg but we still don’t have evidence on them” I said and Anthony nodded his head in agreement.
The room was silent as Anthony placed his hand under his chin and I knew he had thoughts running through his head.
“This is dangerous for Monica Nicholas. We if she gets caught or Ethan finds out that you two are having something with each other. That can put her in trouble” Anthony said and I found some sense in his words
Monica and I had to be careful, especially with our secret meeting. No one was permitted to ever catch us because if they did, then our plans would be terminated.
“You’re right Anthony, Monica had to be careful and so do I. We both had to be careful” I said.
“But how do you intend to get Ethan to say anything that we can use against him in court?” Anthony asked.
“I don’t intend to get anything from him easily but I’ve given Monica a small camera to place in their room. With that camera, I could watch and hear everything that was happening in that room” I explained and Anthony frowned
“Just the room? What about other parts of the house?” Anthony asked, clearly not satisfied with the idea of one camera in Ethan’s entire house
“Not only his room, but his living room and Mia’s room too,” I said and he smiled, a pleased look on his face.
Greg wasn’t the only one who deserved to be thrown into jail. Ethan and Mia deserve the worst things too and I wasn’t going to wait and watch for the law to take action. I was going to take action and bring it to the law.
“I still suspect that Ethan was behind your arrest in Germany but I’m still finding it difficult to come who with evidence pointing to him,” Anthony said and I sighed in exhaustion.
The fact that Ethan showed up right beside Monica the moment I was arrested was very suspicious and I knew he had a connection with that awful event that happened in Germany but we had no proof.
“Nothing yet from the German investigator?” I asked.
“Nothing” Anthony replied.
I sighed again as I leaned more on my chair. My only hope of putting Ethan behind bars was getting information from him with the help of the camera in his house.
I sincerely hoped that he was going to discuss something or say something that we could use against him.
