Chapter 60

I missed my parents badly but that didn’t stop me from bearing a grudge against them. How could they ask me to go with Dmitri when I hadn’t even spent enough time with them?
It was all thanks to Vladimir though, and I hoped he would never cross my path because I wouldn’t fail to give him a piece of my mind.
“Mummy, you aren’t swimming,” Liora whined, floating toward me in the pool floater since she wasn’t that good at yet swimming yet.
Her disorder had made her to miss out on a lot of things, but I dedicated myself to teaching her everything she didn’t know. That’s why I was seated at the edge of the pool right in the hot afternoon when the sun was shining in it’s full glory.
“I’m sorry, baby. I’ll join you now,” I dived into the pool, splashing water on her body.
She giggled in excitement and swam away from me while I chased after her. Playing carefreely like a child and scooping water in my palms to throw at her extinguished all the feelings of uneasiness within me.
We played until goosebumps gradually began to rise on my skin. I helped her out of the pool while Irina came around to help dry her body.
“Did you enjoy swimming?” I questioned, drying my hair.
“Yes, mummy, I did. We’ll do this again, right?”
“Sure, baby,” I answered and picked up my phone.
A message displayed on the screen that caused a knot to tighten in my stomach when I read the content of the message. My legs wobbled as I sauntered into the house to change from my wet clothing.
Not wanting to bother Fedor who was laying quietly on the couch on the living room, I dashed out of the house in a casual pair of baggy jeans and a short-sleeved yellow tank top.
My eyes were already brimming with tears at the thought of seeing an injured Dmitri on a hospital bed. If I’d known that something like this would happen then I’d have dissuaded him from going to the engagement party.
Though the text didn’t explicitly state that he had an accident but the fact that it said he was in danger only led me into allowing such thoughts to drift into my head.
A few minutes later, I was standing in front of a hotel. I cocked my head to the side in confusion and brought out my phone to send a message to the person who had texted earlier but then another text came in.
