Chapter 625: General Cruz and Devin Donovan are Brothers

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2024-11-11

Montgomery Crane, at the pinnacle of Grandmaster status, was sent flying a kilometer away by a mere flick from Flynn, severing all his meridians and instantly rendering him powerless!
Danna Mcguire and others looked at Flynn with eyes filled with terror.
This was the most horrifying thing they had ever witnessed.
Given their status, they had never been in contact with someone at the level of a Great Grandmaster.
Even Callie Pearce had never seen such a terrifying figure.
A week ago, Flynn had slapped Semi-Grandmaster Sullivan Cox to death, a story Callie had heard from her father.
But hearing about it and witnessing it were entirely different; the shock was soul-stirring.
Seeing it with her own eyes today, Callie Pearce felt shocked, overwhelmed, and in awe.
Danna Mcguire and the others were visibly shaken, completely terrified by the scene before them.
They had thought Flynn would be instantly killed by Montgomery Crane, his eyes popping and brains splattering.
Unexpectedly, the outcome was the exact opposite; Flynn tortured Montgomery Crane like a beaten dog, sending him flying a kilometer away with a single finger, leaving him severely injured and unconscious!
Tourists at the mountain top were also startled by the scene, mistaking it for a crashing fighter jet, not realizing it was man-made-a testament to immense power!
The crowd gathered around, pointing and staring, their eyes filled with fear and wariness toward Flynn.
“He… he’s at the peak of Great Grandmaster, how is that possible? Impossible!”
“What about Devin Donovan? Montgomery Crane wasn’t enough for him to handle, can we survive under his hand?”
“Maybe we should kneel and apologize; I don’t want to die, I really don’t!”
The arrogance of Danna Mcguire and the others vanished, replaced by pitiful expressions.
“Flynn, let me tell you, if you touch me today, I’ll-”
Devin Donovan was in mid-sentence when a slap sent him flying into the air, spinning several times before crashing heavily not far away.
Danna Mcguire and the others were silenced, their legs going weak, slowly kneeling to the ground.
“Ah! My face, Flynn, even if I die, I-huh? General Cruz! General Cruz is here!”
After hitting the ground, Devin Donovan, his body nearly falling apart from the impact and old injuries flaring, caught sight of General Cruz approaching from a hundred meters away, and he excitedly shouted out.
“What? General Cruz is here? Ha ha… truly, heaven does not seal off all exits!”
“I heard General Cruz has advanced to the Lesser Sovereign realm, he’s more than capable of killing Flynn!”
“Flynn, stop your arrogance, General Cruz owes Devin Donovan a favor, he’s coming to kill you right now!”
Hearing Devin Donovan’s words, Danna Mcguire and the others got excited again, their previously kneeling legs straightening as if injected with vigor, clamoring once more.
They helped Devin Donovan up and ran toward General Cruz.
In their eyes, although Flynn was strong, he was nowhere close to beating General Cruz.
He was only in for a beating.
So what if he injured Montgomery Crane?
Soon he would regret it!
“General Cruz is coming to Jade Dragon Mountain to help the leader of the Crimson Dragon Gang? My, this is going to be good.”
“Young man, you’re strong, but clearly not enough in front of General Cruz, better run.”
“Goodness! The God of War! If today hadn’t unfolded like this, we’d never have the chance to see General Cruz’s true face in our lifetime! Such an honor!”
The onlookers looked down the mountain, where a man in casual clothes was making his way up the steps.
Tall and imposing, with broad shoulders and a protruding chest, his sharp eyes focused intently ahead, his gaze fiery enough to burn all obstacles, his presence as majestic as a mountain, commanding respect and awe from all who saw him.
“General Cruz, you’ve finally arrived. If you were any later, Devin Donovan would have been killed!” Danna Mcguire rushed to General Cruz’s side, wiping her tears as she cried.
General Cruz saw Devin Donovan looking disheveled and unable to even stand up straight, and frowned in concern. “What happened? Who did this to you?”
“It’s like this,” Devin explained. “I recently angered a man who is on good terms with the Pearce family.”
“He’s also a formidable martial artist, at the peak of a Great Grandmaster, even leaving Montgomery Crane, another peak Grandmaster, crippled.”
“General Cruz, you must see justice done for me!”
General Cruz’s expression darkened as he said sternly, “Are you involved in some illicit business that offended some big shot? If so, you only have yourself to blame!”
He had no fondness for Devin Donovan.
If it weren’t for his grandfather’s insistence, General Cruz would prefer having nothing to do with the Donovan family.
Especially Devin Donovan, who was more distasteful to him than dog excrement.
That scoundrel had been exploiting General Cruz’s reputation to establish a gang in Niarak and commit all sorts of misdeeds.
The various powers in Niarak had tolerated Devin, out of respect for General Cruz, allowing Devin’s behavior to become increasingly lawless.
He even wanted to build a villa on Jade Dragon Mountain and gift it to him, which General Cruz had flatly refused.
He had decided to come to Jade Dragon Mountain to personally teach Devin a lesson and warn him against exploiting his name for personal gain.
“General Cruz, it’s a misunderstanding! This all started because the other party was dissatisfied with the service at the Riverside Club.”
“I personally apologized, but it was no use; they still called in the Blade Special Forces to smash up my place!”
“And he demanded that I fix everything, and after a while…”
“What? He used troops to trash your place?” General Cruz’s face grew cold as he squinted and said, “Such audacity, to use the military to strut around and satisfy his whims?”
Hearing this, Devin’s heart leapt with hope, and he quickly responded, “General Cruz, you heard right. He brought in a hundred special forces soldiers. You should have seen it; it was like a gang of bandits!”
“Brandon Pearce led the team himself; the Pearce family and that man are cut from the same cloth!”
Seeing General Cruz’s grim expression, Danna Mcguire and the others chimed in.
“General Cruz, regardless of whether Devin Donovan is right or wrong, they shouldn’t use the military to interfere in local governance. Their actions show a complete disregard for the law!”
“Devin Donovan’s mother has served the Brooks family selflessly for thirty years. If not for merit, then at least for her hard work. Now that Devin Donovan is humiliated, General Cruz, you must uphold justice for us!”
“General Cruz, Devin’s mother was not only a servant for the Brooks family but also your wet nurse. Even if there is no blood relation, you and Devin drank from the same breast, making you milk brothers! Now that Devin is in trouble, can you really stand by and do nothing?”
Listening to these words, General Cruz’s face became even more somber, his brows furrowed deeply, his anger rising.
A fierce aura began to stir around him, spreading swiftly in all directions, sending chills to everyone present.
After a moment, General Cruz’s voice rose low and thunderous like a tiger’s roar.
“You’re right. Regardless of whether Devin is at fault, for his mother’s sake, I must help.”
“If they dare to use the army to strut and bully my people, then don’t blame me for grinding their faces into the ground!”
With these words, General Cruz headed straight for the mountain top!
