Chapter 268 No One Can Cure This Illness but Me!

Book:Back To Thrones Published:2024-11-11

Kayden felt a surge of anger boiling within him. If it weren’t for Coleman, he wouldn’t have come here at all. Memphis had crossed the line with his words. It seemed that not just the butler, but even the head of the John family didn’t know how to show respect.
Kayden was a principled man. Since they didn’t trust him and resorted to taunting him, he certainly wouldn’t offer his help willingly. He lifted his chin defiantly and said, “So, in your eyes, I’m just someone without any ability, relying on deception for profit, am I?”
Memphis hurried to clarify, “No, I’m just being cautious.”
“Do you think I’m here for your one hundred million?” Kayden pressed on.
Memphis fell silent, and the girl spoke up, “Isn’t that the case? Everyone who comes here is after that one hundred million dollars. Many people are intimidated by my family’s force and reveal their true colors. You seem to be one of them. Besides being stubborn, aren’t your motives the same as those people? For losers like you, it would take hundreds of years to earn a hundred million. You’re just putting on a cool act. I bet you rehearsed it at home for ages!”
“Daphne, stop talking nonsense!” Memphis interjected, trying to rein in the girl.
Daphne John pouted and said, “I’m just stating facts. I can’t stand people who are all talk and no skill.” After saying this, she shot a disdainful glare at Kayden.
In her eyes, Kayden was just another loser trying to take advantage, no different from the others who had come before him.
Kayden took a deep breath and stared at her, saying, “A hundred million isn’t enough to make me treat someone!”
Daphne laughed out loud at that. Turning to Memphis, she said, “Grandpa, this type of person needs to be put in his place. He’s so full of himself. If we don’t teach him a lesson, he might actually think he’s impressive.”
With a smirk, she smiled and said to Kayden, “You’re really something. A hundred million isn’t enough for you to treat someone? I see you’re just here to scam us for money. You were intimidated by our family’s force and pretended to be tough! I guess next, you’ll probably get angry and storm out, telling us not to beg you for help, right?”
Kayden stared at the self-righteous Daphne, speechless.
Daphne continued, “So, you’re saying a hundred million means nothing to you. But I bet your total savings aren’t even a hundred thousand, right?”
In her eyes, Kayden was just a braggart. Wealthy people wouldn’t dress as plainly as he did.
For ninety-five percent of people in Seclela, a hundred million was indeed astronomical-many people would never earn that much in their lifetime. So Daphne’s words didn’t seem surprising at all.
Kayden fixed his gaze on Daphne. Her words were sharp and biting, and he didn’t mind teaching Memphis’s granddaughter a lesson.
Seeing that Daphne was somewhat attractive, he teased, “If I can come up with a hundred thousand, will you kiss me in front of your grandfather? What do you say?”
“Shut up!” Memphis exploded at this, furious that Kayden would openly insult the John family.
How dare Kayden act so brazenly! Memphis had never seen someone so arrogant!
Kayden had crossed the line, completely disregarding decorum by flirting with his granddaughter. This was a blatant insult to the John family’s reputation and authority.
As Memphis’s roar echoed, a group of men in black closed in, their intentions clear. This time, there were at least three times as many as before.
Kayden raised an eyebrow and asked, “What’s the meaning of this? Do you really want these useless thugs to come after me?”
Grinding his teeth, Memphis spat out, “I treated you politely and gave you every chance, and now you dare to act up in my home? You must have a death wish! You’re clearly here to cause trouble, not to treat my son.”
Kayden nodded, his expression unwavering. “Fine. I thought you had some value, so I held back from harming anyone in the John family. But now, I see there’s no need. Memphis, this is your choice! You’ve ruined your son’s future.”
Memphis’s anger surged. What did Kayden mean by having some value? What did he mean by ruining my son’s future? Kayden was completely out of line, believing he could look down on me and act recklessly within the John family.
With his son’s health deteriorating and now facing such a disruption, Memphis could no longer remain patient.
He pointed a finger at Kayden, his voice dripping with disdain. “What are you? You’re just a punk. How dare you pretend to be a doctor?”
Kayden scoffed and replied, “So this is what the John family is like. Your son could have been saved, but now he has to wait to die. Even if you offered me ten billion dollars or begged me on your knees, I wouldn’t save your son.”
Memphis felt a deep sense of anger. Kayden’s words were a heavy blow, making it clear that he would never help.
“Attack! But don’t kill him!” Memphis commanded the men in black, his face furious.
In an instant, the group charged at Kayden like a pack of wild animals. Kayden stood his ground, his face a mask of fury. Anyone who dared to approach him met the force of his fists. One punch was all it took to bring them down.
Despite his medium stature, he was exceptionally fierce. With just one move, he could knock anyone off their feet. Those who attempted to attack him barely got within reach before they found themselves sprawled on the ground.
The dazzling scene made Daphne widen her eyes in astonishment. This was unbelievably cool! With just a lift of his hand, he could take down anyone who dared to come at him.
In a matter of minutes, every one of the hundred or so men in the room was on the floor, while Kayden remained unscathed, standing firm.
He hadn’t killed anyone. He simply knocked them out. If he had truly gone all out, there would have been blood everywhere.
Memphis gaped at the sight of Kayden standing there triumphantly, having taken down a hundred men without breaking a sweat. Was he some sort of warrior?
“Y-You’re a warrior?” Memphis stuttered, shock written all over his face.
Regret began to creep into his heart. He realized he had underestimated Kayden, judging him by his youthful appearance and ordinary attire. He did not believe that young man was a real doctor. Now, it was clear that Kayden was far from ordinary. He was a capable individual who might just be able to save his son.
Kayden gave a dismissive snort and said, “You’re not worthy to know. Memphis, your son’s illness, no one but me can cure it. He won’t live past three days. You’d better start preparing for his funeral.”
“You’re too arrogant!” Suddenly, a powerful voice boomed from within the main room. The voice carried an overwhelming presence, like a tsunami crashing toward the door.
