Cara Pov
Lissa moved with the speed and precision of a trained warrior, and I, blinded by my anger, was slow to react. Her fist connected with my side, knocking the air out of my lungs. Pain exploded through me, but I refused to back down. I launched a wild attack, hoping to land a hit, but she dodged it effortlessly, making me stumble.
The loud laugh of the crowd, reached my ears, making my ears tinge red with embarrassment,
“Get up,” Garreth’s voice rang out, cold and unforgiving. “Or don’t. Your choice.”
Shaking, I forced myself to block all the distractions. the world spinning around me. My pride had gotten me into this mess, and now I had to fight my way out of it.
“You’re too slow,” she muttered, her voice dripping with arrogance. The pity in her eyes was gone now. She was a warrior, and this was a fight.
My heart pounded in my chest as I faced Lissa. The young rogue was smaller, quicker, and had that cold, calculating look in her eyes. Everyone was watching now, their eyes fixed on us, and I could feel the air buzzing with excitement and anticipation. My muscles tensed, my mind racing, trying to brace myself for what I knew would be a brutal fight.
Lissa moved again, fast and fluid, like a predator closing in on its prey. I saw the attack coming, with my instincts sharpening from all the training I’d gone through with Emma and Emily. and with that, I dodged her second attack, barely.
I stumbled back, trying to regain my footing, but she was on me again. Her moves were calculated, each strike landing with cold precision. My body screamed in protest, but I couldn’t keep up.
I knew exactly where she was aiming, a right jab straight for my midsection. She was an amature, Garreth was at least right about this on. The sick psycho had a semblance of integrity in him by not putting me with someone that had experience. But as much as my mind screamed at my body to move, I felt sluggish, dragged down by the weight of my omega nature.
The blow landed hard, knocking the wind out of me. I doubled over, gasping for air. I had seen it coming. I had anticipated it perfectly, but my body was just too slow to react.
“Come on, Cara! You’re better than this!”
I muttered to myself, trying to push away the pain, trying to ignore the burning embarrassment creeping up my spine. I couldn’t let her win, couldn’t give her or the crowd the satisfaction of an easy victor, norwouldl Ibeare to watch the satisfied smirk on Garreth face.
Lissa’s eyes gleamed with confidence as she pressed forward, launching a series of quick strikes. I barely dodged them, my movements clumsy but just enough to keep me from getting beaten down. Everything Emma and Emily had taught me rushed through my head.
This was not like the fight in the forest where I defeated the leader of the rogues because of my power. Noww there was no power, it was just me and my barely polished battle skill.
Stay calm. Focus. Use skill, not strength. I tried to analyse the whole battle, lissa was fast thanks to her being a normal wolf and a rogue at that, but she lacks experience and the grace of Emma and Emily, making her moves easily predictable.
The crowd’s murmurs filled the air, a chaotic mix of cheers and jeers. I could feel their judgment on every move I made. I knew they expected me to fail, to lose. That thought stung more than any punch Lissa could throw. I was constantly a step behind, always seeing where her attacks were coming from, but never fast enough to block them in time. It was infuriating.
A sharp kick from Lissa sent me stumbling back, but somehow, I managed to stay on my feet. The next punch came, a wild swing aimed at my head, and this time, I ducked, the fist barely grazing over my eyebrows.
I heard the crowd gasp. Some were even cheering for me now. That little boost of confidence helped. I found my rhythm, always going over ger dark spot, dodging more of her attacks. I wasn’t winning, no, not yet, but I was surviving. I could feel my movements getting smoother, my focus sharper. But Lissa was getting frustrated. I could see it in her eyes, her blows growing sloppier, more desperate.
And then, just as I thought I was gaining control, she changed her tactic.
Lissa’s eyes narrowed, lips curling into a smug grin as she came at me again, this time with more force. I blocked the first few hits, but they came harder, each one making my arms tremble from the powerful impact. She was adding more power behind her strikes now, I realise she was slowly loosing it, as a rogue barely hanging on to self control, any small thing is what it takes before they are out of control.
Sh is trying to defeat me with all means now
Then she pulled a dirty trick. She faked a punch to my left, and instinctively, I shifted my weight to dodge it. But she didn’t follow up the next strike like i had predicted,
” it was a trap!!.”
And before I could realise it , it was already late. In one smooth motion, Lissa pivoted, sweeping my legs out from under me.
I hit the ground hard, my breath knocked out of my lungs. The crowd erupted, cheering for me to get up, while others were booing lissa for her underhanded move. My vision blurred for a moment as I lay there, stunned. Lissa stood over me, looking down with that triumphant gleam in her eyes, and something in me snapped.
No. Not like this. I couldn’t lose, to her, not again.
As I lay there, something stirred deep inside me. I recognised it immediately as my so-called bloodline, i have been told about. It clawed at me as if it was pissed at what happened. It was subtle, like a counciouness apart from my wolf. I could feel it rising within me. like fire, burning just beneath the surface, aching to be set free. I didn’t know what it was, but right now, I didn’t care. All I knew was I wasn’t done yet.
“Get up. And Fight.”A voice spoke in my head.
I could feel the shift inside me, like a dam breaking. I felt my limits loosen like a chain set free. My omega nature, the weakness that had always held me back, seemed to fade into the background as a new type of strength surged through me.
I pressed my hand into the ground, ready to push myself up, ready to fight again, ready to win. I looked up at lissa, who was already ready to attack again. Our eyes met, and for a second, I could swear I saw her freeze for a moment. Whatever this power was, it was mine, and now was the moment to use it.
But then, just as I was about to rise, a voice cut through the chaos.
“Enough!!.”
