Cara’s povs
I stood in front of my small mirror, staring at my reflection for the hundredth time. Tonight was the night of the mysterious pack party, and I was waiting for Emily and Emma to arrive and take me there. I felt nervous, and my heart wouldn’t stop racing. My wolf had been restless all day, pacing and growling inside me, I was already frustrated that upon everything I had done to know the reason she was frustrated, i didn’t get any results.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. The dress I wore was simple, a soft cream color that hugged my body comfortably, but I felt that dressing much wasn’t necessary. What kind of guest was important enough to require such a fancy welcome?
Suddenly, there was a knock on my door. I froze, my heart skipping a beat. Were the girls here already? I walked over and opened the door, expecting to see Emily and Emma. Instead, I saw Alpha Alexander standing there, holding a small bouquet of flowers.
“Alexander?” I blurted out, completely surprised.
“Cara,” he greeted me with a warm smile. “I thought I’d bring you these as an apology.” He handed me the flowers, making me pause for a moment in surprise before taking them from him, seeing his sincere expression. They were beautiful, a mix of wildflowers with soft purple and white petals.
“Thank you,” I managed to say, still trying to wrap my mind around why he was here. “But shouldn’t you be with your important guest?”
Alexander chuckled softly, shaking his head. “I have a little bit of time before the party starts, and I wanted to see you. I missed our walk after training today,” he admitted, his eyes never leaving mine.
I felt my cheeks warm up, and I quickly looked down at the flowers. “It’s okay. You were busy,” I mumbled, trying to hide my smile. “It’s not like you could help it.”
He took a step closer, and I felt his presence fill the room. “I wanted to make sure you were coming to the party tonight. It would mean a lot if you were there.”
I looked up at him, surprised by his tone. “Why? It’s just a party, right?”
“Well, yes and no,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. “This guest is very special, and it’s important that everyone attends. Including you.”
Something about his words made my heart beat faster. “Who is this guest?” I asked, my curiosity finally getting the better of me. “Why are they so important?”
Alexander hesitated, and for a moment, I thought he was going to tell me. But then he sighed, shaking his head. “I’m not allowed to say. I wish I could, Cara, but I’m forbidden.”
A chill ran down my spine. Forbidden? What kind of guest would require that level of secrecy? “Will you at least tell me if this is something I should be worried about?” I asked quietly.
His eyes softened, and he reached out to touch my arm. “I promise you, everything will be alright. Everything will go back to normal soon,” he assured me. “Just… trust me, okay?”
I nodded, even though my mind was still filled with questions. “Okay.”
He smiled, looking relieved. “i will be going, but don’t tell my sisters that i was here”
I nodded at his request. “I’ll see you at the party then.” And with that, he turned and left, leaving me standing there with more questions than answers.
I could feel that Alexander was hiding something, and whoever this guest was is so powerful that even Alexander an alpha can’t disobey his words.
It wasn’t long after that when Emily and Emma arrived, both looking absolutely stunning. Emily wore a deep blue gown that hugged her figure perfectly, while Emma was dressed in a shimmering silver dress that made her look like she was glowing. They were dressed like two little queens, i can’t help but notice how formal their dresses were.
“Wow,” I said, feeling a bit embarrassed in my simple dress. “You both look amazing.”
“Thanks!” Emily grinned, twirling around. “You look great too, Cara.”
“I feel so underdressed,” I admitted, glancing down at myself.
“Nonsense,” Emma said, waving her hand. “You look beautiful, Cara. Trust us.”
“But who dresses this fancy for a normal guest?” I muttered, still feeling unsure.
Emily shrugged. “Good question. We were wondering the same thing. We are just following orders.”
“Guess we’ll find out soon,” Emma added with a smile. “Come on, let’s get going.”
As we walked to the main gathering area, I couldn’t help but feel a growing sense of unease. The path was lined with lanterns, glowing softly in the darkness, and I could hear the sound of music drifting through the air. It didn’t feel like a regular party. There was an air of something more, something important.
When we finally arrived, I was stunned. The area had been transformed. There were banners hanging from the trees, tables covered in fine white cloths, and twinkling lights strung up everywhere. It looked more like a coronation ceremony than a simple welcome party. My heart skipped a beat as I took it all in.
It was amazing how all this was put in place, just not more than a few hours ago.
“This is… incredible,” I whispered.
“Yeah, it’s a bit much, isn’t it?” Emily said, looking just as amazed. “The last time we had something like this was when our father welcomed two people from the Council years ago.”
“Two people from the Council?” I asked, my eyes widening.
“Yeah,” Emily nodded. “But even we don’t know who the guests are this time. It’s all been kept a secret.”
I felt a shiver run down my spine, and I had to fight the urge to turn around and leave. Something about this didn’t feel right. “Why all the secrecy?” I wondered aloud, but neither Emily nor Emma had an answer.
My eyes wandered to the front, where there were several specially arranged chairs, each covered in rich velvet. They were empty, waiting for the guests to arrive.
“Are they late?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
“Probably just making a dramatic entrance,” Emma joked, but even she didn’t seem convinced.
And then, as if on cue, the soft music playing in the background stopped, and a hush fell over the crowd. All eyes turned to the entrance, where a group of pack warriors stood in two lines, neatly arranged holding torches. Alexander appeared, leading the procession, his expression serious and unreadable. Behind him, three figures followed, their faces hidden beneath the hoods of their long, flowing cloaks.
My heart started pounding, and I felt my wolf stir inside me, more alert than ever as they got closer. “Who are they?” I whispered, but nobody answered.
I looked at Emma and Emily first answers, but they were focused on the last guest who followed shortly after the two cloaked figures,
He also wore a cloak, but his air of authority was not mistakened, he was a werewolf a very powerful one at that, could sense that, and I could also sense something else from the mysterious guest, a strong feeling of nostalgia hit me so heavily my head spun for a while.
The broad chest, the enigmatic stature, and the lazy posture. I can’t be mistaken, a chill spread down my spine, my lungs failed to work for a moment as my fears resurfaced once more. Only a few words continued to repeat in my mind.
“I have been found…”
