Paige couldn’t see anything and could only let Enrico lead the way.
While her vision was blocked, her hearing was infinitely amplified, and the wailing in her ears grew louder and louder, as if there was someone standing right next to her crying.
Paige walked forward woodenly.
The group left the airport through a special channel, and several cars were already parked on the side of the road.
Looking up, countless cars were crowded and parked on the way in, and none on the way out.
Enrico pulled Paige about to get into the car, Paige wrenched his hand away, “You’re going to the presidential palace now, aren’t you, I’m not going with you, I’m going to take care of something.”
Enrico stood in front of the car door and looked down at her, seeing that although her face didn’t look good, her eyes were still calm.
She was holding up.
The presidential palace should be surrounded by people by now, and it really wasn’t appropriate for her to go there.
He placed his hand on top of her head and rubbed it, “No going into any of Temple in Heaven’s properties, just work at the estate, got it?”
Paige knew what he was worried about and forced a smile, “I’m not a little kid anymore, I understand what’s at stake here.”
“Good.” Enrico didn’t have time to exchange pleasantries with her, turning his head to Nick, his gaze flooding with cold, “Keep an eye on her, don’t let her be alone.”
“Yes, brother-in-law.” Nick nodded with a stony face.
“Paige, come here.” Enrico reached up and pressed his hand to the back of her neck, taking her into his arms and tugging off his own muzzle, he kissed her eyes.
Paige closed her eyes, her long eyelashes quivering.
A touch of warmth fell, warming over her heart.
Nick turned them away.
“Call me if you need anything, I’ll be home with you tonight.” Enrico said in her ear, rubbing the top of her head again before turning to get into the car.
Paige stood still, waving goodbye to him and turning her head to get into another seven-seater commercial vehicle.
The road away from the airport was empty.
There was no more scenery out the window, just traffic jammed in the opposite lane.
Paige sat in the window seat and withdrew her eyes when Nick on one side of the aisle took out his cell phone and glanced at her, “Sister Paige, Carrie’s on the phone.”
“Answer it.” Paige voiced.
Nick immediately picked up the phone, pressed the amplifier, and said, “Carrie, we’re already back in the country, Sister Paige is right next to me, what’s going on, just say it.”
The remaining few people turned their heads to look at them, their faces heavy.
“Nick, what are you doing, how can you let Sister Paige go back home at this time?” Carrie’s surprised and nervous voice came, “Do you know that everyone is worried about finding a vent right now?”
“Carrie, get to the point.” Paige leaned back in her leather chair and spoke indifferently.
Hearing her voice, Carrie paused on the other end, then took a breath and said, “I’ve ordered people to set up an investigation team, preliminary investigation, the Ferris wheel virus was leaked from the National Virus Research Institute, and we’re lining up suspicious people.”
“Send me the surveillance of the institute and the dinner party in a moment.” Paige said.
“Yes.” Carrie responded without even thinking, “Right now investigating who did this is one aspect, controlling the virus is another, we are tracing the movements of everyone after the celebrity dinner party, but the trouble is that these people are not ordinary characters, right now they are not only not cooperating, but they are also thinking of ways to escape from the country.”
“…”
Paige listened in silence.
“And because the first batch of people who contracted the virus were not ordinary people, the measures from abroad came with unprecedented urgency, and as soon as the news broke, the Presidential Palace’s phone was busted.”
Carrie paused for a few seconds on the other end and then said, “Without waiting until tomorrow, Country A will become a completely isolated country.”
Everyone knew what the Ferris wheel virus was, and who would want this kind of virus, to trickle down to their own country.
“What time is it, these high and mighty figures, are still not willing to cooperate, so let’s send out some powerful ones.”
Nick sat there, holding his cell phone coldly.
“Country A’s military has never been strong, and it can’t be forced any further. The people who are in trouble this time, and they are all plutocratic aristocrats, once they are pushed, the enterprises in their hands, their respective power …”
Carrie didn’t say any more, but the answer was obvious.
In Country A, the plutocrat is king.
When something happens to the king’s capital, chaos is a certainty, and now we only have to see if we can bring things under control.
At that, Nick gritted his teeth in some annoyance, and everyone frowned at Paige.
Paige sat there, looking down at her feet as the scenery out the car window went backwards.
“David, Derrick,” Paige voiced.
“There.” The two men spoke out neatly.
“You two are pharmacologists, go to Dr. Clinton right away, join up with Carrie’s side of the institute, and set up out three brand new teams to analyze the virus, target treatments, and research a vaccine.” Paige’s voice was clear and cold as she gave her orders.
“Understood, Sister Paige.”
The car stopped at the side of the road, and the two picked up their bags and slung them over their shoulders, jumping out of the car and heading to another car behind them.
The driver looked at Paige in the rearview mirror and asked with his eyes if he was driving.
“Hold on.” Paige sat in her seat and thought about it, continuing to issue instructions, “Lamont.”
“In.” Lamont heard the bark and immediately grabbed the backpack next to him and slung it over his back, readying himself to get out of the car.
“Find a way to figure out the trajectory of everyone at the dinner party, if there is no specific route, then we must get a hold of the areas they’ve visited and implement an aggravated defense.” Paige said, “Need anyone? Draw your own from Temple in Heaven and Carrie.”
“Understood.”
Lamont jowls, puts on his mask and jumps out of the business van, heading for the back.
“Sister Paige, what about me?” Cynthia sat in the passenger seat, which would turn back to Paige, waiting for her to set up her assignment.
“You will immediately take the men and gather all the Wind Island men and send them to the new Rose Estate neighborhood, keep them safe and operate in secrecy and security.” Paige said with a look at her.
The Ferris wheel virus was a virus that came out of the slums, if they were not secured, they would soon become a target for the people to vent their anger.
“Understood, I’ll go then.” Cynthia unbuckled her seatbelt, pushed the door open and got out of the car.
“Drive.” Paige voiced.
The business car restarted and slowly moved forward.
Nick sat there, cell phone still in hand, looking at Paige with some consternation, “Sister Paige, so I …”
“Your task is the heaviest, you bring along the finances and lawyers to inventory all of Temple in Heaven’s assets, use the fastest time to liquidate all of the industries, put all of the money into anti-virus medical treatment, and if you can’t liquidate it, then find a way to turn it into producing medical equipment and transporting it to key areas.”
Nick was the leader of Temple in Heaven aside from Paige, and he would be best suited to do this.
Paige’s face was extremely pale and her tone was light, it was completely impossible to hear that she was making a shocking, all-or-nothing decision.
Nick looked at her in shock, “Sister Paige, you’re going to smash your entire fortune into this?”
She had worked so hard to get Temple in Heaven to its current size.
The towering Temple in Heaven building was about to be completed.
“It would be nice if smashing it all in would quell everything.”
Unfortunately, infectious poisons weren’t like anything else, so smashing it all in might only be heard as a ringing sound.
