Chapter 40
Ariel
The warm afternoon breeze washed over my skin as I sat at the edge of the pool. I was clad in a short flare skirt and sports bra which gave me the freedom to take a dip in.
Liora was still deeply asleep and Dmitri had gone to settle an urgent business that I didn’t bother to ask him about.
I was yet to come to terms with their kind of business so I didn’t get inquisitive even though into one of the families that did such business and my father was one of their heads.
Guilia strolled to the pool as well and sat beside me. I looked away, waiting for her to begin the conversation. After how she reacted the other day, I was being careful of the things I said around her.
“I’m sorry,” She whispered, staring at me with misty eyes.
It came too easy and I contemplated accepting her apology immediately or giving her a hard time. However, she had been a sweet soul and we’d never had a reason to fight so I chose the former.
“You hurt me though. How could you say those mean words to me because of him?” I pouted, my voice cracking as I pretended to be in tears.
She drew closer to me and cupped my cheeks while I lowered my lashes. “I’m so sorry for what I said. It’s just that I’ve been so confused lately,” She admitted.
Her admission piqued my curiosity. “Confused? Why?”
She sighed tiredly and threw her head back, dipping her feet into the water and creating ripples by flailing her legs. “Vladimir. It’s strange and stupid, I know, but after our encounter at the club, my feelings have never been the same,”
I arched my brows in disapproval, gradually understanding the reason for her confusion. “You like him? You like that man that has brought nothing but pain to us? He doesn’t even like you, I’m sure that whatever the both of you did was just a fling to him,” I warned her and my blood began to boil.
The urge to protect her rose fiercely within me.
Another exhausted sigh left her lips. “Well, nothing happened other than kissing, but now I’m wishing I didn’t go to him at all because I can’t just forget it. The more I try to, the more I crave him, and it hurts because it feels like I’m betraying Raphael,”
I listened to her intently while looking for the right words to say to her. She was bewildered already and I didn’t want to add more salt to her injury, but it bothered me the kind of strong influence the Mikhailov brothers had on us.
They knew how to make a woman want them to the point of madness. I could relate to how she felt because I found myself wanting to be intimate with Dmitri every single hour of the day.
It didn’t even matter if my body passed out from having multiple orgasms, I still wanted him. But it hurt that I wasn’t sure he wanted me back in the same intensity.
And it broke my heart that he’d never be able to love me as I wanted.
“No matter what you do, Guilia, don’t allow him to deflower you. You’ll never be able to forget him,” I stated as a matter of fact.
Her eyes widened and she stared at me incredulously. “Did anything happen between you and him?” She preferred to refer to Dmitri without mentioning his name because of the grudge she had against him.
I could understand her pain because she lost her lover for the sake of our marriage.
Lying to her wasn’t even an option since she could read me like an open book. We were that close. “Yes, but we haven’t gone deeper than making out and honestly, it’s so heavenly what he made me feel,” I blurted, my eyes dreamy with desire.
How could my core heat up at the mere thought of him?
“But does he love you?”
I shook my head sadly. “He doesn’t and he never will, so can you understand me when I say you shouldn’t allow anymore intimacy between Vladimir no matter how much your body wants him? You’ll only get heartbroken,”
We sat in silence for some minutes while our legs continued to make ripples in the pool.
“Let’s go out, it’s so depressing in here,” I suggested and sprang to my feet.
“I’m in,” She grinned widely and I pulled her in for an embrace.

We dressed up in rocker chic outfits and headed to the garage. I’d already texted Dmitri that we would be out but he didn’t reply and I didn’t bother getting one from him.
I only told him for security purposes.
“Take us to a cafe downtown and then a library. It’s been a long I read a book,” I said to Fedor who instantly started the car.
“Yes, ma’am,”
He turned on the car’s stereo which played one of our favorite rock’n’roll songs which we danced frenziedly to.
Finally, we reached the cafe and he steered the wheel to the parking lot but a car was parked wrongly which prevented him from pulling the car to a complete halt.
He opened the car doors and Guilia and I jumped out of the car angrily, charging toward them like angry bears ready to fight for their cubs.
Guilia who was faster than me knocked at the glass of the car since it was tinted. She was ignored at first and she knocked harder again, not minding if her aggressive rapping would cause a scratch on the glass.
After what seemed like an eternity, the window whined down and my jaw dropped at the sight that greeted us.
Immediately, I reached for Guilia’s wrist and held her firmly while she continued to stare at them, her eyes beaming with tears.
Vladimir rolled his eyes, his palms caressing the naked butt of a lady who had been riding him. “What’s the matter?” He glanced at Guilia and snorted. “You want a threesome?”
“You son of a bitch, I told you not to hurt her if you weren’t serious about her,” I yelled at the top of my voice, pulling off one of my boots to throw at him.
Fedor was quick to drag me away while Vladimir’s window rolled back up, blocking me from continuing my assault.
“Let me go,” I fumed and struggled out of his grip while he let me.
His hands shot up in surrender. “I’m sorry about that, ma’am,” He apologized.
I turned to Guilia who kept staring at the car, a tear sliding down her cheek. My heart bled for her, but I hoped that she understood what I’d been trying to explain for days.
He wasn’t worthy of her.
