Chapter 35
Ariel
My fingers trailed along the rail of the baluster as I imagined what Dmitri’s reaction to my outfit would be. I doubted he picked my dress himself or he just wanted to show off that he had a gorgeous woman as his wife.
My dress was the complete definition of a revealing attire, the length of it was just a deception.
The red maxi dress he got for me complimented my tanned skin, and the slit began just above my upper thigh. We hadn’t gone out yet and I was already exhausted with trying to keep my thigh hidden.
The heels of my black glittery sandal clicked against the tiled floor, steering Dmitri’s attention toward me. His eyes scanned my face which barely had any make-up.
Guilia was still mad at me so she didn’t bother to doll me up, and since I wasn’t good at the art, I decided to play safe and apply some foundation powder and nude lipstick.
Fortunately, she’d carved my brows the last she did my makeup so I didn’t have to do much about that.
And when I thought he was done scrutinizing me, he kept his gaze on my cleavages and instantly I adjusted the low cowl neckline that exposed the upper part of my moderately sized boobs.
My body didn’t only heat up at his gaze, but at his attire as well. He wore a black dress shirt that did nothing to hide his thick muscles and he folded the sleeves which stopped at his forearm. The pair of dark gray dress pants he wore fit him well.
His long hair was parted in the middle, the strands forming side bangs over his face.
I had to admit, he looked so hot.
“Can we go now?” I asked softly, my cheeks burning with a strange kind of desire I’d never felt for any man.
And just like he requested, I wasn’t wearing any underwear.
“Yes,” He replied curtly and stretched forth his hand.
I held it and together we walked to his car. He surprised me by opening the car door and waiting patiently for me to get in, then he hopped in as well and started the car.
The drive was slow and silent in an uncomfortable way. I kept fiddling with my finger, thinking of what to say to clear the tension, but when he increased the volume of the song blaring from the car’s stereo, I thrashed the idea.
“Where are we headed? I should at least know where you are taking me,” I demanded.
He chuckled lightly and glanced at me. “Don’t be scared. I’m not kidnapping you,”
“You already did something worse than kidnapping me. You forced me to marry you,”
He didn’t reply but I knew that I’d struck the wrong chord.
We arrived at a restaurant and this time I didn’t wait for him to open the car door before I hopped out. We went in together and then I realized that the restaurant was empty though dimly lit up and the tables were arranged as if they were expecting customers.
“Ummm, Dmitri, why are we the only one here?” I questioned.
He took off his mask and ruffled his hair. “Because I want us to have some privacy to ourselves. We’ve never had a proper date since we got married,”
“I know that and I’m still surprised that you brought me here for no concrete reason. We’ve not been together for a while but I know that you don’t just do things for the fun of it, so spill,”
Though I’d stated the obvious, I hoped he would humor me and say something different.
“You’re right. I wanted to thank you for what you did for Liora so I thought of this,”
My hopes fell and my lips spewed out a hiss in disappointment. “That means you wouldn’t have taken me on a proper date if I didn’t do what I did. Just take me home, please,”
He obstructed my path, propping his arm against one of the tables while staring at me with a lazy gaze. “There’s one thing I’ve always admired about you, and that’s your feistiness. It’s very sexy,”
I clenched my fists to control the fluttery feelings in my stomach, but the proximity between us wasn’t helping matters. A pool was already beginning to form between my thighs, all he just had to do was touch me and I’d lose it.
“Don’t try to change the topic, Dmitri,” Even my intended warning sounded like a whimper.
It was annoying what he was turning me into.
“That isn’t the only reason I brought you here. The truth is, I want this marriage to work but that can’t happen if we’re always at loggerheads. We don’t even know each other properly,” He suggested and my heart expanded.
I peered up at him, looking into his eyes to be sure he meant every word he said, but then, he hardly told a lie.
“What if knowing each other leads to something else?”
“Like what?” He drawled, leaning closer.
My nipples hardened at the tone of his voice and I shut my eyes. “Falling in love with each other,”
His arm snaked around my waist, pulling me closer to him. “That won’t happen because we won’t allow it, but we can do other fun things since we are married,”
“But you still have Margeret and that’s double standard. If you want me to agree to this then you have to end whatever relationship you have with her,”
“Is that jealousy I sense?” He teased me.
I scoffed and looked away. “You’re entitled to your thoughts, but don’t you think it would be wrong for me to give my body to you and then you go to someone else?”
He nodded, and his fingers began forming circles on my waist, causing me to shudder involuntarily. He smirked at my reaction and continued.
“Alright. We won’t meet anymore,”
“Dmitri?”
“I promise,”
A smile crossed my face instantly, coupled with a blush. “And Liora. I want her to get better, but that can’t happen if you’re always absent. Let her feel that she’s important to you by always being there for her. I know that you’re busy with work, but she should come first,”
“Thank you,” He mouthed and slowly lowered his head.
My breathing became labored and my heart thumped hard against my chest as I gulped nervously. “For what?”
He didn’t answer, instead, his lips gently brushed against mine. The kiss was so light I felt his irregular breath on my neck which made me excited that I wasn’t the only needy one.
Then he broke the kiss, as tenderly as ever and cupped my cheeks, his eyes boring into mine with so much desire that scorched my body like the blazing sun.
“Fuck!” He inhaled and pulled me in for a harsh kind of kiss that took my breath away.
