Sachin heard Morphy’s words and bowed his head, hiding the displeasure in his eyes.
He understood Rosiley and knew there was nothing between her and Yan Xu, but Yan Xu had looked her up so late at night and she got into that man’s car.
He did not know whether she was naive or just plain stupid.
Rosiley walked over, saying cautiously, “Corey, Morphy, you guys are here.”
Hearing her voice, Corey and Morphy both turned their heads.
When they saw her, each had a different expression on their face.
Corey’s face was expressionless and there was a hint of displeasure in his eyes.
Morphy was smiling a little. He asked with concern, “sister-in-law, are you feeling okay now?”
Rosiley shook her head. “I’m fine.” Her eyes passed over them and fell on Sachin, who had his head lowered. There was a trace of helplessness in her eyes.
Then, she retracted her gaze and looked at Corey and Morphy, smiling a little. “Did you two come because of the news today?”
Neither of them answered her.
Rosiley shrugged, a look of helplessness on her face. “I was too careless. I didn’t know there were paparazzi there. If I had known, I would not have… ”
“You would not have gotten into his car?” Corey interjected hastily.
Rosiley smiled and shook her head. “No. I would not have seen him.”
As soon as she uttered this, Sachin raised his head, staring at her with profound eyes.
She was also staring at him, a touch of pain showing in her crystal eyes. “I thought the innocent would not need to refute such news. I didn’t expect… ”
She paused for a moment, her gaze sweeping over Corey. “… Corey to think that way about me.”
A flicker of embarrassment flitted across Corey’s face. He turned away, not daring to look into her eyes.
He was just anxious, so much so that he did not give the matter much thought.
Sachin gazed deeply at her. He knew that the hurt in her eyes was in fact caused by him. His attitude had hurt her.
What she did not understand was that he was a man, and a rather petty one. To see her getting into another man’s car so late at night, that man being someone who still fancied her, would certainly make him most unhappy.
He trusted her, but he still felt very uncomfortable in his heart.
“sister-in-law, Second Cousin was just too worried about you and Big Brother. He thought things through a little too simplistically. Don’t take what he said to heart,” Morphy said, explaining on Corey’s behalf.
“Why would I take what he said to heart?” Rosiley smiled radiantly, but there was not the slightest bit of warmth in her eyes.
Even a fool could tell that she was unhappy.
Morphy did not know what else to say. He could only look at his taciturn Big Brother, then at his sister-in-law. He pulled Corey and said to Rosiley with a smile, “sister-in-law, we shall take our leave first, You can talk things over slowly with Big Brother.”
As Corey walked past Rosiley, he muttered softly, “I’m sorry, sister-in-law”
Rosiley turned and smiled at him. “It’s alright.”
The person who had made her angry was Sachin, not Corey.
It was normal for Corey to say that. After all, he was looking at the incident from Sachin’s perspective.
The living room lapsed into silence. Rosiley stood quietly there, looking at Sachin not speaking.
His head was lowered, as if he did not notice her looking at him.
She bit her lip, then she walked over and sat down on the sofa opposite him.
After a moment of silence, she asked, “Sachin, don’t you believe me?”
Sachin raised his head and stared at her. “I do believe you.”
“Then why aren’t you speaking?” Rosiley asked again.
