Alpha Carlos returned to the room, wearing a hoodie that covered some of his face.
His breath stopped for a few seconds as he pushed the door open. The elders’ gaze was fixed on him.
“We have been expecting you, ” The Civil Elder declared, shifting uncomfortably in his seat.
Alpha Carlos gulped down the forming lumps in his throat and strode deeper into the room, stroding towards his seat. His eyes scanned the room and caught a glimpse of Ryan, who was sitting majestically beside Aurora, Luna Lorienta’s mother.
His heart skipped a beat as he locked eyes with Ryan.
His face quickly drained of colour, and his lips parted in a silent gasp.
He felt fear creep up his spine, and his mind raced with confusion and alarm.
His suspicions that the earlier issue was a planned work were confirmed, and he sensed a connection between Ryan and Aurora.
He took a deep breath and moved closer to the spherical table in the center of the meeting room, pulling out his assigned chair.
“You do not respect time,” Luna Lorienta muttered, a smile curling on her lips. Alpha Carlos gave her a killer glare, just as she had expected, and it took the smile off her face.
He gently sat down on the chair and maintained a straight face.
“Are you alright, Alpha?” Ryan inquired, his voice filled with concern, “Your face appears to be swollen.”
Alpha Carlos squinted his eyes in disgust, and despite his concern, he recognized the statement as mocking.
“Let us get to the agenda of this meeting,” Alpha Carlos proposed.
Ryan then brought a journal closer and uncovered the pen, ready to write.
Alpha Carlos, perplexed, glanced over the journal and then back to his face. Questions filled his glares; as Aurora suspected, he was curious.
“He is the pack’s general secretary, and I realized that this pack was falling behind in keeping records, so I devised a solution,” Aurora revealed, feeling proud of herself for a job well done.
“What the heck is going on in this pack? The level of disregard and disrespect is alarming; how dare an ordinary Luna mother pick up a random witness to become the pack’s general secretary without permission from the Alpha?” He ranted. Fresh pain from the expanding tissue of his swollen mouth washed over him, causing him to winch and his chest to heave up and down in rage and fury.
“I am sorry, Alpha; I did not realize it would make you angry. I just thought that since you neglected that part, someone else should refill it.” She responded,
Her persistent pushing threw Alpha Carlos’s composure off. He jumped out of his seat and yanked the hood off his head, revealing his damaged face bandaged together.
The air in the room quickly became polluted with gasps of shock, with the exception of Alpha Carlos and Ryan, who were releasing glaring daggers at themselves.
“What has happened to you?” Luna Lorienta inquires, shaking her head in sympathy.
“Your mother’s witness, The new fucker that your mother chose to become the pack’s general secretary did this, he almost killed the Alpha of Crest pack.” He yelled, fury boiling within him.
“I would not be surprised if all of you planned it.”He added, kicking the extra empty chair in front of him off balance.
One of the seated Elders, one of the most respected, stood up in an attempt to mediate the situation.
“After a thorough examination of the entire situation, from the Luna’s cheating accusations to what happened to Alpha Carlos, I will offer advice, and I would be grateful if it is followed rather than ignored,” he stated, flickering his gaze over everyone in the room to ensure they were all ready to listen.
“With my experience, I believe the first step should be to arrest the people who started the rumors, the pack’s Gardener, and the Luna’s personal maid. Since everyone of them was involved in the accusations, we should listen to their side of the story and pass judgment in accordance with the pack’s rules,” he said, satisfied by the nodding reactions he received from almost everyone.
The Crime Elder, who had maintained a straight face throughout the meeting, sniffed and cleared his throat before rising from his chair and stepping forward, his gaze fixed on Luna Lorienta, fury and anguish glaring in his eyes.
“I do not think your suggestions were fair enough. First, I respected your advocacy so much that I would have agreed to it if you had brought up the real cause of the problem.” The crime elder stated that his hatred was no longer hidden; it was visible to everyone.
“I truly believe you should be removed from your position because you think from your anal canal,” Aurora yelled, unable to tolerate the Crime Elder’s insults and insinuations.
A sneaky smile curled up on the crime elder’s lips, and he bent over and sucked on his teeth before raising his head again.
“I am confident I will be able to reveal all of the hidden things in this pack on my own, but first, we must prepare for the war against the Silverado pack,” he said. People in the room who knew him well were taken aback by the sudden switch.
They were stunned once more by his nonchalant expressions as he returned to his seat.
“That is true, but our focus should be on how to prepare well so that we do not lose this war to them, rather than on issues that could be resolved without problems. These are pack affairs.” Another elder agreed with the crime elder’s words.
Everyone agreed and sat down, with the exception of Alpha Carlos, who was glaring daggers at Ryan.
“We will need to send them a notice.” Alpha Carlos averted his gaze from Ryan and pulled out his seat.
” Why? Is not it better to just attack them? It will give us more chances to win?” Aurora asked, puzzled.
“Nominations for the Alpha King begin soon, and we can not afford to be left out due to our ignorance of the werewolf protocol, which has existed since the first werewolves” Alpha Carlos muttered, sitting back on the seat, he threw his head backwards, his mind heavy and bulky with various ideas running through it.
“I will write the letter as the pack’s general secretary,” Ryan said, flipping the journal to the middle page and tearing it off without waiting for a response.
With a smile, he started writing.
After a few minutes, he put down the pen and picked up the piece of paper.”Should I read the notice right now?” He inquired, glancing over at Alpha Carlos, who was already deep in his reverie, though he was listening but could not butt in.
” Alpha!” They called at the same time, jolting him out of his reverie. He took a deep breath and sat up, furrowing his brow and gesturing for him to read it aloud because he was already aware.
Ryan lowered his head, a smirk on his lips, and began reading.
” NOTICE OF WAR
TO:[ SILVERADO PACK]
War declared. Brace yourself up.
FROM:[CREST PACK] ”
“Are you really serious right now? This is absurd. ” Alpha Carlos scoffed and slammed his fist against the table in disgust.
“Is this how a notice should be written? How would you defend yourself if they decided to use this letter against us and submit it at the nomination center?” Alpha Carlos yelled, unable to believe how pathetic and ridiculous the letter was.
“Why are you yelling? Do you want us to mention that she is a Silver Omega who we banished for attempted murder and now want her back in our pack? How absurd will that be” The Civil Elder bellowed, unable to keep up with Alpha Carlos’s constant ranting.
And with that, the room fell silent.
