The crowd dispersed immediately as everyone fled for their lives; it was an unexpected attack, and Beta Frank refused to accept it as an attack but rather as the work of the Elders.
When the other two guards began to cough up blood and sag, they were carried up to be taken back into the prison. The warriors in the pack gathered to search the bush for the attackers after the remaining guards on the pack peak house alerted them.
The Gamma of the Silverado Pack, Gamma Loan, had just returned from a journey and was surprised to see almost all of the warriors of the pack outside. He exited the car with a questioning expression and moved forward to stand beside Beta Frank. In a whisper, he inquired, “What is the problem? Were there any attacks?”
Beta Frank sighed and explained everything to him, but he became even more confused.
“I just returned, and all the roads to our pack and the bushes were clear. How come arrows flew to the point of killing one of our guards?” He wonders, This statement confirmed Beta Frank’s suspicions that the action was not an attack.
“Darin, Keta, and the remaining warriors in team 2 should go into town and disperse the news that it was not an attack to calm the scared Pack and go into the bushes to find anything suspicious,” Gamma Loan ordered, and the aforementioned people immediately went into action while the rest of the warriors were discharged.
“Do you think we should notify the Alpha?” Gamma Loan murmured as they walked into the pack house.
“The problems weighing the Alpha down are enough; we can solve this on our own,” Beta Frank replied, taking another path leading to his apartment.
*************
Daisy’s mind was racing since the private investigator her brother hired was imprisoned. She was curious as to what had happened between them.
“You can leave now, I want to discuss something with him” She put on a fake smile, praying that the guards would not refuse her offer.
“What if Alpha comes in and finds us away from the prison room?” One of the guards inquired, while the others nodded.
She walked up to the guards with a smirk, “I can just make your beloved find you.” The guards shifted back, bowed in fear, and retreated to the prison room’s entrance.
Daisy revealed, “You should wake up now, I have thousands of questions waiting to be answered.” Her red wedge hits the ground with style as she walks closer to the prison room and bends over.
The private investigator turned to his right side and slowly raised his head. His heart skipped a beat as he noticed the curious eye glaring at him. He shook his head, closed his eyes, and decided to ignore her.
Daisy chuckled in disbelief at his actions, thinking, “I do not have any choice but to threaten him.”
“You do not want to return to your family, right? Only I can save you from Carlos’ wrath.” Daisy’s voice was a little high, but it did not move him an inch.
“No one born or alive can save me from being punished or killed by Alpha Carlos, not even you; I would rather die with the information than complicate things when I know I will not be there to see how it goes,” he muttered and took a sharp breath, which confirmed Daisy’s curiosity and partially answered her questions.
“You can still be alive to see how things go if you tell me first.” She chose to persevere, hoping that he would eventually give in or unintentionally reveal it.
“I do not want to see anything because it will only make me feel anxious and destroyed; I will not be the reason for everything.” Daisy soon realized that, despite her persistent efforts, his decision would not change, as he confirmed.
“A*s!” “You can still think about it, I will visit you again tomorrow,” she said with a low-pitched curse as she stood up straight. She strolled over to the entrance grinning, a small smile spreading across her lips when she noticed the guards dozing off.
“Get off your ass, I am done.” They jolted when she yelled in their faces, and they ran into the guard station in front of the cell, which was not too far from the prison entrance.
Luckily for Daisy and the guards, Alpha Carlos showed up as soon as she was gone. He did not arrive alone but with his Gamma. The guards leaped to their feet with a bow, as if he was aware of what had occurred just a few minutes before.
“How is the prisoner acting?” He asked one of them, and his thick voice alone crippled them with fear. The person being asked opened his mouth to say something, but words failed him, and both his lips and legs trembled.
Alpha Carlos was irritated by the sight; he despised weak people. He valued confidence and boldness, which is one of the reasons he despised Mavana.
“You bloody animal; such a weak peasant.” He groaned, ignored them, and walked silently towards the private investigator prison room, his Gamma trailing behind him. The private investigator was correct in his guess that Alpha Carlos was approaching him based on his footsteps and movements.
“Well, are you ready to speak now?” He questioned losing his patience.
“I have nothing to say to you.” The private investigator’s voice came out low, and his heartbeat was loud enough to be mistaken for a drum.
Alpha Carlos’ smiling face changed immediately as he ordered his Gamma to open the door and drag him out.
“You should have taken advantage of the opportunity and told Daisy what you knew.” Alpha Carlos chuckled, and the private investigator’s heart stopped for what appeared to be thousands of milliseconds.
“He was aware?” He questioned himself while attempting to hide his fear and concerns.
“You missed the only opportunity you had to live.” With that statement, Alpha Carlos grabbed his head and hit it on the marble floor. He let out a shriek before falling silent.
The amount of blood coming from his ear, as well as the crack in it, provided sufficient evidence that he was dead.
Alpha Carlos muttered, “Pack him up,” and left the jail.
