Andrew took Chloe’s hand in a firm grip. “We have to run from here, they’re around us.”
She gave him a slight nod in response, still under the effect of their intense kiss. He scurried away, grasping her hand.
They were running through the dense forest, hand in hand, panting and sweating, trying to escape the danger without knowing where they were heading. He was terrified for her and wanted to protect her at any cost.
Their eyes dilated in horror as a few rival men appeared in front of them, their lips curved into devilish smiles. Andrew hastily reached into his pocket to take out the gun but realised he had left it under the tree. He glared at the goons and pushed Chloe behind him to protect her. He stood in front of her like a shield.
“I’m surrendering. You can take me to your boss, but let her go. She isn’t at fault.” Andrew had never bowed his head to anyone before, but today he accepted his defeat to protect Chloe. This showed he would do anything to keep her safe. She had become a vital part of his life.
They laughed at him. “Finally, we found the weakness of The Mafia Boss Andrew,” one of the men said, braying with laughter.
One of the men trod closer and stood beside them. Chloe scowled at him. “There is something about her,” he said, leering at her body. Andrew clenched his fist and pursed his lips to control his anger. He felt like killing him. “Isn’t it?” He asked, moving his eyes back to Andrew.
Chloe sneered, glaring at the man with no fear in her eyes as Andrew knitted his brows.
She barked at him with outrage, “Fuck you.” She took out the gun and shot him. The bullet hit the man’s heart and he died on the spot. His body slumped to the ground with a thud.
The other man pointed his gun at Chloe and fired, but before the bullet hit her, Andrew hurriedly stepped in front of her and took the bullet in his stomach. Her heart almost stopped beating and her eyes widened in horror.
“Andrew…” she screamed, hastily hitting the other two men in fury.
She sat down and placed his head on her lap, tears streaming down her cheeks uncontrollably as she looked at him with sorrowful eyes.
“Why did you save me?” She asked him in an angry tone, though her heart was aching profoundly. She didn’t want to lose him. For the first time in her life, she was afraid-afraid to lose someone, and that was him.
He gave her a faint smile and uttered with great difficulty, “No matter what.” He took a deep breath and continued, “I’ll always protect you.” He added, “If I stay alive.”
She became hysterical and cried profusely. “No, nothing will happen to you, Andrew,” she uttered, clasping his face and crying bitterly, touching her face to his.
She took out her phone and hurriedly called Mike.
“Hello, Mike,” she sobbed, her moist eyes fixed on Andrew. “Mike, please get here as soon as possible, Andrew got shot,” she informed him, crying miserably.
“We’ve traced the location and we’re almost there. Just don’t let him fall unconscious,” Mike answered her. Andrew was just looking at her, trying hard to keep his eyes open.
“Come fast, please.” She disconnected the call before crying, looking at Andrew.
He raised his hand and wiped her tears with his thumb. “Don’t cry. I-I will be fine.” He was almost unconscious, but he still reassured her.
“You have to be fine, Andrew, or else with whom will I flirt?” As she asked, they both smiled slightly at each other, even in pain.
Andrew’s eyes were closing. “Don’t close your eyes. Please, stay with me,” she implored frantically after cupping his face and moving closer, tears constantly trickling down her face. She was frightened to lose him.
She sucked his lips softly and lovingly. As her lips met his lips, he seemed to gain some instant energy. Her kiss did magic over him.
“Please, stay with me,” she whispered against his lips, squeezing her eyes shut as fresh tears rolled down her cheeks.
As she pulled away from him, they gazed into each other’s eyes intensely and deeply.
“I don’t like tears in your eyes,” he whispered, rubbing her tears away with his thumb and placing a soft kiss on her forehead.
“Please.” She sniffled and continued, “Be with me.”
He murmured, “I’m always with you, Chloe.”
His hand suddenly fell and he became unconscious. She became terrified and cried, hugging him tightly.
“No, no, Andrew, you can’t leave me like this. Open your eyes,” she wept, appalled at the thought of losing him. He was the first person who cared for her, and the person with whom she felt a strong connection. She howled in agony, hugging him tighter.
