Book 2: Chapter Twenty-Five – Nicholas Proves A Point

Book:The Temptation Series Published:2024-11-6

“Don’t you seem to be in a hurry to throw me out?” asked Nicholas, watching her with hooded eyes as she bustled about in the kitchen. Alyssa was acutely aware of his stare and of his promise of another kiss, but she tried hard to look busy. She wouldn’t allow another kiss at all! Nicholas was toxic to her system, and she wouldn’t let him crawl under her skin and into her heart.
“No, I need to see Hayley. I have two tickets to an evening movie show, and I want her to tag along.” Contrary to her expectations, that got Nicholas’s attention, and he ambled towards her, his eyes fixed upon his prey.
“Why can’t I come along?” he asked innocently, and Alyssa would have believed him if she didn’t know otherwise.
“No, you can’t. Look, I know why you’re chasing me, Nicholas. So why don’t you stop? It’s not working, and Alexander isn’t here to see your conquests,” muttered Alyssa. Nicholas’s jaws dropped at her implications. He had that motive earlier, but now it was purely out of interest that he was pursuing Alyssa. Now he was addicted to her kiss!
“And why do you think I’m chasing you?” he asked, leaning against the counter, facing her as she rinsed the plates. With his face closer to hers than was necessary and his piercing gaze upon her, she forgot to breathe.
“Maybe you need to teach my brother a lesson for whatever he did to you in the past. To prove to him you don’t fear him, to get him all riled up, maybe.” She shrugged, giving him a discreet look. Surprisingly, she found him smiling instead of getting worked up at being caught.
“You are wrong! I know Alexander and Ashton are away, yet I’m here to see you. How will you explain that?” asked Nicholas, leaning a little towards her, his eyes twinkling to see the surprised look on her face.
“Maybe you know that someone will inform them about your presence here,” she breathed, moving away a little to place some distance between them.
“Wrong! You get another guess!” he drawled, but she quickly dried the utensils and placed them in the drawers while he stood in the same position, watching her.
“I don’t know. Maybe to take a picture of us and send it to my brother,” she guessed lamely while he chuckled.
“Good idea! He’ll forget his own romance and come rushing back!” laughed Nicholas while she glared at him.
“Don’t you dare pull such a stunt Nicholas,” she warned him, but he wasn’t a guy to be easily controlled. He left the counter and approached her, his eyes flashing with defiance and glittering with excitement. It had Alyssa taking a step back with apprehension. What the fu*k was he up to now? She kept retreating with every step he took till her back touched a wall.
“You’re forcing me to do it, Alyssa. Let me go out with you or else I’m really going to do what I please.” He encroached upon her personal space and gazed into her wide eyes.
“Why are you so impossible? What do you want from me? Can’t you leave me alone?” she gritted out desperately. Why the hell was the guy following her around? Why did he have to set spy cameras around to watch her? Things were getting out of control and she did not know how to fix everything.
Her words seemed to anger him, and he pressed his body closer, pinning her with his weight. When she tried to push him away, he caught her hands with one of his and pinned them above her head. She was trapped and under his mercy. Leaning closer, he grazed his warm lips across her neck. “Don’t you know what I want from you?” Electric tingles shot through her, hearing his raspy voice laced with raw desire. “I want you, all of you. I want to repeat the kiss, and I know you aren’t immune to me, either. Tell me if I’m wrong.”
Goosebumps erupted on her arms and she couldn’t help the deep ache in the pit of her stomach that just his words had invoked. “You’re wrong, Nicholas. I’m immune to you. We can’t be anything but enemies.”
Nicholas traced his lips up her neck, towards her jawline, his hot breath fanning her face. Her breath hitched, her body refusing to listen to her mind, which directed it to stop reacting to him. “Liar! Are you so afraid of your brother? How can we be enemies when my kisses totally melt you?”
“No, they don’t. Why are you so full of yourself?” she tried to turn her head away, but he caught her chin in a firm grip and crashed his lips to hers just like he had a week ago. It was a hungry and desperate kiss that made her instantly feel a throbbing need for more. He tugged at her lower lip, making her gasp, and plunged his tongue right inside her mouth. A deep moan escaped her throat, a low guttural sound filled with desire and pleasure that seemed to turn Nicholas on. He devoured every recess in her mouth like a starved man feasting on his only meal of the week!
It was obvious that she wasn’t immune to him at all! His ferocious kiss soon compelled her to react, to kiss him back fervently. He released her hands, and they wrapped around his neck for support while he kissed her fiercely, grinding his hard length into her. With his ere*tion straining against his jeans, all Nicholas wanted was to embed himself deep inside her.
Their mouths battled while their bodies writhed against each other, as they both surrendered to the desire mounting between them. Just like the previous kiss they had shared, there was no way they could restrain themselves. It was proved that Alyssa wasn’t immune to him, but at that point, Nicholas’s body had gone over the edge, to the point of no return. He knew that this wasn’t just for revenge and neither was it plain attraction. This was an obsession, an addiction, a drug that he needed to survive. He needed to have her!
“F*ck, I need you,” he bit out when at last he released her mouth to breathe. It was enough to bring Alyssa to her senses, and she pushed him away.
Breathing heavily and nearly blind with se*ual hunger, Nicholas gazed at her, surprised by her sudden move, “Stay away from me, Nicholas,” she breathed, staring at him accusingly.
“No. Why should I stay away when you aren’t at all immune to me? Admit it, Alyssa. Tell me you too need me the way I need you.” Alyssa stared at him with confusion. No, she would never admit that. Her brother’s enemy was hers, too. She couldn’t go against her brother. He’d be so upset and disappointed in her. Ever since her father died, he was almost like a father figure to her, the only one in the family who loved her. She couldn’t invoke his wrath.
“It was a momentary distraction. I’m not interested in you Nicholas. Stop pursuing me,” she stated, pushing him away and dashing off to her bedroom.
“Think about what I said.” She heard his retort, but locked the door and leaned against it, her heart thumping away wildly. No, she was certain that she felt nothing for him. It was a momentary distraction and she would surely get over it in a few days. She heard the main door click shut and breathed a sigh of relief. He had left!
All the energy drained out of her body, and she hardly had any wish to go out. However, she had already called Hayley and she would wait for her. After wasting the whole afternoon thinking of Nicholas and his wild kiss, she finally dragged herself off the bed and decided to get ready to go to Hayley’s house. Wanting to get her mind off Nicholas, she chose a bold red figure-hugging dress that did wonders to her hair and eyes, making her look like a se*y siren. She would enjoy to the fullest and forget about him soon.
She drove over to Hayley’s house but to her utter dismay, aunt Caroline had guests over and Hayley was stuck at home, helping her mom. “Sorry, girl. I can’t go out tonight. Why don’t you stay over and we can watch something on TV after everyone leaves?” asked Hayley. Alyssa shook her head, not wanting to entertain her guests at all.
“Some other day. I’ll watch the movie all by myself,” she said, waving her off and climbing into her car. However, the moment she steered out of Hayley’s house, she found Nicholas leaning against his car that was parked bang in front of the gate.
“You’re in my way, Nicholas,” she pointed out impatiently while he grinned at her, getting off his car and walking towards her.
