*Selena*
His confused blue eyes pierced into mine, making my head spin and my breathing stop. Never had I ever thought about meeting this cruel demon again.
Not like this.
He was naked, dripping wet in the shower, holding me onto him. His hard, sculpted body flushed with mine, making me remember all our hot and passionate moments. It would be better if I died because the feeling made me feel so embarrassed, despite not wanting to feel like that.
The cold water pouring on me didn’t even help not to feel his hot body pressed onto me. Every fiber of my body became alive by his proximity, and I hated myself for that.
But what the hell was it, actually?
Was I feeling like this because I had not been this close to a man in those three years?
The thought he could smell my arousal made me so nervous. I didn’t want to give his already inflated giant ego a boost, but I couldn’t help it when the arousal burned my core, making me clench my thighs tightly together.
Ah! Now I wanted the earth to split open and swallow me whole.
I didn’t know how long we were glaring at each other while the cold water ran down our bodies. First of all, I was frozen and too startled to move. But then, eventually, I came to my senses, wriggling and trying to escape.
Zander’s face suddenly turned murderous and cold.
“Selena, why are you here?” He growled, not letting me get away.
“Leave me!” I gritted out, struggling to make myself free.
“No! First, you tell me why you are here?” His grasp tightened.
My mouth was too dry to reply by the heat radiating from him. I didn’t reply to him but tried to push him away again. However, his mountain-like body didn’t budge.
“What happened? Why are you not answering me? Cat got your tongue?! Last time I remember, you were yelling at me, and it was loud and clear enough to tell everyone how you hated me,” he scowled.
“Ah! If… if you leave me, uh… then only I can give you an answer,” I whimpered, closing my eyes. I still didn’t understand why my body continued to react so strongly to his touch.
His face was so close that I saw Lyon peeking through his eyes. His heavy breathing touching my face made me lose my senses, and I was about to faint at any moment.
He finally released me, and I felt like oxygen could enter my lungs again.
“Tell me now!” He demanded in his threatening voice, taking a fluffy white robe from the cabinet beside the shower panel and hiding his Greek God-like body beneath it.
“I am here because.. Avery… I.. I mean, I am here as Luna Avery’s personal butler,” I stuttered nervously.
I would have almost been caught. He turned to stare at me with his dangerous blue eyes.
I bit my lips and avoided looking at him with all the strength in me. I was so scared as if he could peek inside my heart.
“Avery!” He roared, and the next moment there was some noise at the door. With his wolf speed, Zander was at the door, letting his Beta in.
“What happened, Alpha?! As soon as I got your mind link, I got here, leaving my beautiful mate in my bed,” he asked Zander when I came out of the bathroom.
His eyes came out of their sockets with utter shock as soon as they landed on me. I hadn’t seen him there when I came to this pack. So, perhaps he had returned with Zander.
“Lu… ” Zander’s Beta, Maddox, started, gasping before Zander glared at him.
“I .. I mean Selena?! How are you?”
I smiled at him, but then a growl resonated, sending a warning to Maddox.
“Oh, I mean, why are you here in Alpha’s room?” He questioned, frowning and looking between his Alpha and me.
Before I could reply, Avery entered wearing her skimpy red nightgown. Her confused gaze darted from me to Zander. Then she suddenly ran toward Zander.
“Zander?! Oh, my Goddess!” She gasped, beaming brightly. “You are back. I miss you so much,” she jumped on Zander as she tried to kiss him.
I rolled my eyes. I was prepared for it before coming here because I knew Avery would never leave a single chance to rub it in my face that Zander was hers. But she did not know one thing that I did not care about them. I was here to see the destruction of this cruel Alpha King and his kingdom.
“Avery!” Zander brutally yanked her away from him.
Ouch! Rude!
But he was like this, and she would get used to it. No one could touch him without his will, not even his mate. He liked to have control over everything. Literally everything, whether it was a piece of land or someone’s life.
“What is she doing here?” Zander’s thundering voice sent a shiver running down my spine, and I felt everyone present in that room tremble.
“Selena!” Now she turned to me, her eyes shooting daggers at me.
“What the hell are you doing in Alpha’s room, and why are your clothes wet?” she gritted her teeth, clearly annoyed at Zander’s discourtesy, and now she wanted to lash her anger out at me.
“I .. I was in the kitchen when I saw someone on the second floor. I thought about checking if someone barged onto the royal floor, and then I found Alpha’s room’s light on. So, I went in to check,” I lied in nervousness.
Shit! Shit! Shit!
But the lights were not on!
I was scared to death and kept my eyes down. Of course, Zander would know something was fishy, and he would kill me in a snap for telling a lie.
But to my surprise, he remained silent. So, I took a sneak peek from the corner of my eye and found Zander standing there, cold and unwavering.
“Oh, Selena!” She scowled, looking at me. “Did you forget you are just my personal butler, not a warrior or a pack member? You can’t even shift. Poor girl,” She clicked her tongue twice, pitying me. “So mind only doing your job and stay out of other matters,” she continued, “If you saw someone on the royal floor, you should have informed the guards rather than checking it yourself and putting yourself in trouble. What if Zander had killed you? You know how ruthless he is!” She warned me, smirking.
“Avery, you didn’t reply to me. Why is she here as your butler? Why did you appoint her and let her live in my pack house without my permission?” Zander snapped in his Alpha voice.
“Zander, I will tell you everything. You just came back. Come and relax. I will make you feel so good,” Avery smiled seductively, holding Zander’s hand.
I sighed, thanking the Goddess for saving me this time.
However, Zander didn’t move. Instead, he pulled Avery back to where she stood a minute ago.
“Tell me right now!” He ordered.
“Actually, I was hiring new staff, and she applied for the position,” Avery said, her tone dripping with feigned concern. “She was your ex-mate, Zander. How could I reject her application? I thought I might as well offer her the job. It’s the least I could do for her, for old times’ sake.”
Zander didn’t say anything, but I felt his burning eyes on me.
“Alpha! Luna! If you please allow me, can I go back to my room and change my wet clothes?” I whispered, bowing before them.
Zander didn’t reply, but Avery smiled, looking very pleased and hooking her hand in Zander’s.
“Yes, you may leave now and be careful. This should never be repeated. Don’t act recklessly in the future. It will get you killed, and it won’t be our warriors’ fault,” she threatened.
I didn’t stop there for a moment after that. Running off, I stopped only after reaching my room.
Shit! How could he come so early?
He spoiled all my plans.
I locked the door and took out my laptop, connecting it to the portable wifi I had with me. It was not easy to get detected by server security.
*Alpha King is back, and I can’t do this. I am going back.* I sent a text to the anonymous client.
He still hadn’t disclosed his identity and wanted me to die for his so-called work. I snorted at the dickhead.
*No, you can’t back out. You have to do this.* The reply came instantly
*I am not so silly to get myself killed.* I replied back, getting frustrated about his dangerous deal.
That guy would get me murdered by the Alpha King if I were not cautious.
*I am sending there a backup. But you already have someone who will help you there. You don’t have to leave the work incomplete.* He texted, and he signed off instantly.
What the hell was that?
Help?!
Here in this Moonglow pack?
If he had someone, then why did he not get this work done by that person?
Then I remembered breaking the security of the Moonglow pack was not that easy, and only an expert like me could crack the code.
But one thing I couldn’t understand was why I felt that strange way when my ex-mate was near me.
I walked to the small mirror on the wall and, tilting my neck, I searched for the mating mark. It was not there, but only its burned scar as the pain was still fresh in my mind.
So they were right, calling the Alpha King magical because his aura was something no one could resist, and hence he ruled the whole werewolf community.
