OLIVIA
“Just keep your fingers crossed. You may never know, it might stop raining soon. It’s not that serious and you know that. Can you see that? I told you the rain wasn’t serious.” Adrian assured me while pointing outside. I wasn’t fascinated enough by his assurance knowing that he never meant it. He was just trying to act like a perfect gentleman, so I didn’t get pissed off that he was taking advantage of me.
“Like seriously? Does stuff like this still exist? Come on, you can do better. That trick is outdated. I am not falling for that shit. Please show me to the guest room. I need to be up very early tomorrow,” I requested. I stood in front, waiting for him to come lead the way.
“Right away my lady. As her lordship pleases,” Adrian replied as he stepped forward and led me to the guest room.
The room looked spacious and attractive with paintings on the wall. It could be mistaken for a master’s bedroom.
“Is this where I would be spending the night, or is this some sort of mistake,” I asked Adrian while narrowing my gaze around the four corners of the room. I needed to be certain that Adrian had made a mistake in bringing me into the wrong room.
“Yes, this is your room for tonight. If you don’t like it, I can take you to another,” Adrian assured.
“No, it’s fine.
I like it here. I was just amazed at its attractiveness.” I explained.
“You got me scared for a moment.
I thought you wouldn’t like it. I’ll be in my room now. If you ever need anything, just call me, and I’ll send one of the domestic staff over,” Adrian assured me as a large smile paraded his face. Without being told, I could see how happy he was that I was spending the night in his house.
“Thank you. I’ll do just that.
Now you can leave. I need to undress. I want to believe you don’t want to see me naked.” I told Adrian. I noticed he’s been standing there for too long without showing any sign of leaving.
“Yes, I will just do that,” he replied, yet failed to make a move.
“You keep saying that, but then you don’t do it. Adrian, please? I am too weak to yell right now.” I pleaded with an unfriendly gaze and stood up.
“Oh, yes. Sorry.
I will just leave immediately. I was just concerned about you.” he apologized to me before stepping outside reluctantly. Shortly after his departure, I stepped forward and shut the door just to ensure Adrian didn’t sneak in at midnight and take my panties.
I grabbed my phone and the first call that came in was from Cyril. As though he knew I was in Adrian’s mansion. The tension was high. My blood pressure increased tremendously.
I accidentally answered the call without actually knowing. I would have ignored the call if I knew Cyril would call. Speaking to Cyril in my darkest moment is suicidal. He’s got no positive impact on me.
“Hello, Olivia. Can you quit playing games with me and say something?
I know you’re in there. Just answer the damn phone and stop wasting my time. Don’t fucking pretend like you aren’t there.” He threatened me.
I lost my vocals immediately and found it difficult to utter a single word.
“If you don’t say something now, I swear, I’ll be the cops and declare you missing. Wait, how about I released a press release to the media that our marriage has been dissolved? That would be cool, isn’t it?” Cyril dared me to compound my woes. He rendered me defenseless with just those few words.
“No, you can’t do that.
I know you are trying to sound like a threat, and you need to stop. I don’t find this funny anymore.” I protested and regained my vocals. The pressure not to speak was becoming too much for me to handle. It made me realize that staying quiet wasn’t going to solve the problem.
Cyril might be joking about getting a divorce, and at the same time, I don’t want to gamble on that, considering that he’s unpredictable.
“Awesome! Neither do I find your silence exciting either. Guess whose voice just popped? My lovely wife, Olivia. At some point, I thought I was speaking to myself,” Cyril mocked me with wicked laughter. It was so disgusting that I felt like punching him through the phone.
“What do you want from me, Cyril? Haven’t you done enough damage to me already? Don’t you get tired of throwing shades at me?” I fumed and showed no sign of weakness just to prove to Cyril that I could withstand his pressure. Deep down, I was struggling with my confidence. If Cyril was with me in the room, he would find out how terrified I was.
“I would pretend I didn’t hear that from you. You’re my wife, and I’ve got the right to speak to you when it pleases me. You can’t decide for me. No, I won’t accept that from you. I just got one question to ask you, Olivia. Where the fuck are you?” Cyril asked in a commanding tone that nearly damaged my ear drums.
“Am I supposed to answer that?” I confronted him.
“Have I ever questioned your whereabouts before? Why do you think you can do that to me now? Make it make sense to me because I’m losing it,” I retaliated without fear.
“Who’s he?” Cyril asked me with a calm tone.
“Who are you talking about?” I feigned to be surprised.
“The man you fucking with right now. Don’t dare lie to me because I just did my findings and I discovered that you’ve been flirting around town with some man. I ask you again, who the hell is he?” Cyril flared up.
“Get off my phone, you jerk,” I quickly ended the phone. I was curious to find out how Cyril got to know about Adrian. The only person I ever told was Kate. Kate doesn’t even like Cyril a bit. There’s no way she could have told him. I would have suspected the estate security was responsible, but he wasn’t even aware. I ensured that he didn’t see me driving out of the estate.
“Well, there’s only one way to find out,” I muttered succinctly and quickly called Kate over the phone. It was already 2 am, and I was hoping for her to respond immediately.
Finally, she answered the phone. “Hello, ma’am. Good morning. It’s a bit late. Why are you calling at this odd hour?” Kate asked in a faint tone.
“Did I wake you up?
Sorry, I did that. I just needed a bit of information from you,” I apologized to Kate ahead. She may not have admitted, but I knew she wasn’t so pleased with how I ended up ruining her slumber. I guess she would become infuriated if I happened to be someone else.
“No, it’s fine. You don’t have to worry about it. What seems to be the problem? You sound so urgent,” Kate asked.
“Cyril just found out about Adrian.” I disclosed.
“Wait, What? Cyril found out about who? How’s that even possible? No one knows you’re there. How did he find out?” Kate screamed in shock. I noticed a significant change In her voice. That was precisely how I reacted when Cyril told me about it.
“That’s the reason I called,” I wasn’t done talking when she interrupted me.
“Hold on a second.
You think?” Kate paused to catch her breath. Then she continued, “You thought I had something to do with this? How could you?” She cried.
“Of course not.
I just needed to be certain. Cyril confessed that you told him,” I lied. I was hoping to get the truth from Kate using the format.
“Cyril told you I said so, and you believed him? How could you possibly believe him?” Kate bemoaned. She didn’t sound too good. I was starting to feel guilty for actually putting her in such a situation.
“If you didn’t believe him, why did you call me? I don’t seem to get it,” Kate asked me. It was the question that silenced me for a couple of minutes. I didn’t know what else to say anymore. I quickly ended the phone to save myself from further embarrassment.
Kate wouldn’t stop calling my phone while I kept ignoring her. What’s the point of answering knowing my conscience was going to be punished?
I thought ignoring her call would give me a moment to pick up the broken pieces again. However, I was wrong. Cyril texted me again with a different kind of threat.
