Sarah pov
I couldn’t help but cackle as I thought about the drama unfolding. Ethan and Lucas were at each other’s throats, and poor Amelia, Lucas’s fiancee, had no clue that her dashing fiance was sneaking around with his rejected mate. Oh, the chaos I could stir up! I dashed into the living room, and there was Amelia, deep in conversation with that little minx, Alessia, Lucas’s sister. They were laughing like hyenas, probably because they sensed my impending entrance. But I was ready to steal the spotlight and drop a bombshell.
Hahaha!
I burst into the room, my laughter bouncing off the walls like a party crasher. Amelia and Alessia whipped around, their faces a mix of confusion and intrigue.
“Sarah, what’s got you in stitches?” Amelia asked, her brow knitting together.
I took a dramatic pause, relishing the moment. “Oh, just some scandalous tea I overheard in the woods.”
Alessia’s eyes narrowed suspiciously. “What are you on about?”
I flashed a cheeky grin. “Let’s just say Lucas’s little ‘no’ to Harper didn’t quite take.”
Amelia’s face morphed from puzzled to utterly shocked. “What do you mean by that?”
I leaned in closer, my voice dripping with theatrical flair. “Lucas and Harper were getting all cozy in the forest, and guess who caught them? Ethan, her so-called ‘mate.’ The showdown that followed? Legendary!”
Alessia’s complexion drained, her eyes sparking with fury. “That’s absurd! Lucas would never-”
I cut her off, my words bursting out like a raging inferno. “I saw it with my own eyes! Lucas and Harper, all lovey-dovey, staring into each other’s souls. Ethan’s claim on her? Totally irrelevant!”
The room went dead silent, the tension thick enough to cut with a knife. Amelia’s eyes went wide, her brain clearly working overtime.
“No… Lucas promised me,” Amelia murmured, her voice shaking like a leaf.
Alessia’s expression darkened. “This changes everything.”
I reveled in the chaos as the news hit like a bomb. Tears welled up in Amelia’s eyes, while Alessia’s fury simmered just below the surface.
“You’re lying!” Alessia shot back, her fists clenched tight.
I just shrugged, my grin as wide as ever. “Deny it all you want, but I know what I saw. And trust me, soon everyone else will too.”
Amelia’s face crumpled, her body wracked with sobs. “How could he, Alessia? How could he betray me like this?”
Alessia’s demeanor softened as she wrapped her arms around Amelia. “We’ll get through this together.”
As the drama unfolded, I quietly slipped away, my mission a resounding success. Chaos had erupted, and I was the mastermind pulling the strings.
But little did I realize, my little stunt would trigger a chain reaction that would shake up the pack dynamics forever.
As I vanished down the hallway, a sly smile crept across my face.
“Let the games begin,” I whispered to myself.
Sarah’s meddling had just sparked a wildfire, and I was more than ready to stoke the flames.
As I aimlessly walked toward the compound, I bumped into Harper. “Hey, watch where you’re going!” she snapped.
“No, you should be more careful, you shameless flirt,” I shot back, glaring at her.
Harper’s eyes blazed with fury, her face just inches from mine. “You’re just looking to stir up trouble, aren’t you?” she retorted.
I smirked, hands on my hips. “Trouble found me thanks to your little fling with Lucas.”
Her face turned red, and her jaw tightened. “That’s not your concern.”
“Oh, but it is,” I replied, my tone laced with disdain. “Amelia’s my friend now, and you’re just a homewrecker.”
Harper’s fists clenched. “You don’t know anything about me.”
“I know enough,” I fired back. “Lucas turned you down, and now you’re crawling back to him like a desperate mate-seeker.”
Her expression twisted with rage as she shoved me, causing me to stumble back, my feet scraping against the ground.
“You have no right to judge me!” Harper shouted, her voice ringing out in the compound.
I steadied myself, my eyes blazing. “I have every right. You’re toying with people’s lives-Amelia’s, Lucas’s, Ethan’s… Your life is a tangled mess of lies.”
Tears welled in Harper’s eyes, but her anger remained. “You’re just envious. Envious that Lucas still wants me while I’m the mate of your close friend, Ethan.”
I let out a cold, humorless laugh. “You’re living in a fantasy. Lucas only wants to reclaim his pride, and I will keep rejecting him.”
With a snarl, Harper lunged at me. We collided, our bodies grappling as we fell to the ground, hair pulled, nails scratching, and insults flying.
Suddenly, strong arms wrapped around me, pulling me away from Harper. “Sarah, stop!”
It was Lucas. His grip was firm, holding me steady.
Harper scrambled to her feet, breathing heavily. “This isn’t finished,” she hissed before storming off.
Lucas let me go, his eyes practically on fire. “What’s your deal?”
I smoothed my hair, my heart still racing like a wild horse. “Just establishing some boundaries.”
What ridiculous boundaries? You’re nobody in this pack. He shot back, and ouch, that stung.
I am Sarah, Ethan’s best friend, in case you forgot!
Lucas’s words sliced through me like a hot knife. My cheeks flared with embarrassment, and my eyes felt like they were about to spill over.
“How dare you,” I hissed, my voice shaking.
Lucas didn’t budge an inch. “You’re sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong. Back off, Sarah.”
He raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. “And what do you think that gives you? Power?”
I flashed a saccharine smile, my tone laced with sarcasm. “Oh, it gives me everything. Ethan trusts me, and I know just how to wield that trust.”
Lucas’s gaze sharpened. “You’re playing with fire, Sarah. Ethan won’t always be your shield.”
I let out a laugh, cold and devoid of warmth. “Protect me? Please! I’m the one keeping him safe from your little schemes. You and Harper think you can pull the wool over his eyes? Think again.”
His expression darkened, fists tightening. “You’re testing your luck, Sarah.”
I stepped closer, locking eyes with him. “Oh, I’m just getting warmed up. You see, Lucas, I know your secrets too. And I won’t hesitate to spill them.”
The tension between us was electric as Lucas shot me a warning glare.
“Sarah, cut it out,” he growled.
But I wasn’t backing down. Not now.
“Or what?” I challenged.
Lucas’s face twisted in fury, and for a heartbeat, I thought he might lash out.
But then Ethan’s voice thundered from behind us. “Lucas, back off.”
We both turned to see the alpha, his expression all business.
“What’s happening here?” Ethan demanded.
I put on my best innocent act. “Just a little chat about pack dynamics, alpha.”
Ethan’s gaze flicked from Lucas to me. “Sarah, we need to talk. Alone.”
My heart raced. What did Ethan know?
As I followed him, I shot a glance back at Lucas, who was still glaring daggers.
This was far from over.
