Everything happened so fast. It seemed like only a minute ago that the golden wolf had arrived, and now the warriors of the Frostholm Pack were scattered everywhere. They all landed on the ground in a pitiful state, even though they weren’t injured at all. With precise and measured movements, the golden wolf managed to knock down the warriors without causing any injuries.
Everyone was stunned. Their eyes widened in disbelief as they saw how helpless the warriors were in front of the golden wolf.
“You,” Mireya growled, a possibility immediately coming to her mind. Her guess was that the golden wolf was the mysterious man Addy had encountered. But there was something that made her heart beat uncomfortably. An unpleasant premonition made her wonder. “Who are you?”
The golden wolf glared at Mireya. He growled, and his eyes seemed to glow more intensely the longer he stared at Mireya. It was as if an immense rage consumed him.
On the other hand, Mireya’s body felt a piercing cold from the golden wolf’s sharp gaze. It was like a dagger plunging into the deepest part of her bones. She stood still, almost unable to control herself as a fear made her question herself. It couldn’t be Usher. That was impossible.
Mireya pushed that possibility as far away as she could. She kept reminding herself that Usher was in the palace right now. Usher had given her full authority to handle the affairs of the Munest family. Besides, thanks to the magic tea she had been giving him all this time, Usher no longer cared about Vione.
This impossible possibility was discarded. Mireya’s focus now shifted to something else more worrying. If he was the mysterious man Torin had been talking about, then it wasn’t something to be taken lightly. His arrival to help the Munest family, regardless of the risks, was a bad sign.
Mireya looked around. She quickly scanned the area to make sure there were no warriors hiding and ready to attack. When she was sure, she turned to Storm. “What are you waiting for, Storm? Quickly, capture him! I’m sure he’s the mysterious man on the photo.”
Storm was startled by Mireya’s call. Still, he didn’t carry out the order right away. The reason was that his body was frozen with a fear he had never felt before. Exactly the kind of fear that should have been impossible for him to experience, considering that he was the leader of the warriors. No one in this world could scare him, could make him tremble. No one, except one person.
Impossible, Storm thought. It couldn’t be Alpha, but…
Unfortunately, that was the only logical reason why Storm felt powerless in front of the golden wolf. His body weakened, his courage shattered. On top of that, the golden wolf’s sharp gaze managed to completely immobilize his wolf spirit.
“Damn you, Storm!” Mireya snapped angrily. She approached Storm with fast steps. Then she grabbed the weapon hanging from Storm’s waist. “You really are an unreliable leader of the warriors!”
With that, Mireya pointed the weapon at the golden wolf. She pulled the trigger and a silver bullet sailed smoothly through the air.
A whistling sound was heard, creating a chilling sensation that conjured up visions of pain as the silver bullet tore through skin and flesh. Everyone held their breath. As werewolves, they were well aware that silver bullets were one of their major weaknesses. Undoubtedly, if the silver bullet hit the golden wolf, he would be paralyzed instantly.
However, it wasn’t that easy for Mireya to incapacitate the golden wolf. Her first shot was dodged with a simple jump, as well as the second and third shots.
Mireya was furious. She grabbed the pistol and pulled the trigger again and again without any calculation. Her shots were random and the silver bullets flew everywhere. Everyone there stayed on guard, not wanting to risk being hit by accident.
Mireya’s breathing accelerated. Her eyes were filled with anger and frustration. Then a mischievous smile appeared on her face as she pulled the trigger again.
“No.”
Storm reached out to stop Mireya, but it was too late. The trigger was already pulled. The silver bullet flew away. This time, however, Mireya’s target was not the golden wolf, but Addy.
The golden wolf growled, then jumped quickly at Addy. But the silver bullet flew so fast that it pierced Addy’s chest.
“Addy!”
Hilary’s scream broke as Addy’s body collapsed to the ground. She became hysterical as the golden wolf stood stunned, unable to save Addy.
Hilary couldn’t control herself. Reflexively, she immediately ran to Addy’s body. She grabbed Addy’s body and pressed her trembling hands against the wound. She whimpered as she tried to stop the bleeding. “No. No, Addy. This can’t happen. Please.”
Sadness washed over them as Hilary’s sobs echoed heartbreakingly. Everyone was silent, no one spoke. The sight left them stunned in disbelief.
“You shouldn’t have done that.”
Mireya glared at Storm. She pushed Storm’s hand away when he tried to take the gun back. “I wouldn’t be doing this if you could do your job properly. So, consider this a lesson,” she replied without hesitation. Then she raised the gun again. “Now watch closely.”
Just like before, Mireya pulled the trigger without any hesitation. She took advantage of the situation while everyone’s attention was still focused on Hilary’s grief.
No one had expected Mireya to go this far. They were stunned when the silver bullet claimed another victim, including the golden wolf.
Hilary’s sobs stopped, replaced by a moan of pain. Her body collapsed on top of Addy’s. She convulsed for a moment before finally coming to a complete stop.
The situation was getting out of control. The Past Vione, who had tried to restrain herself from the beginning, could no longer think clearly. Addy’s death made her heart feel as if it had stopped beating, while Hilary’s death made her soul feel as if it had left her body at that moment.
“Mireya!”
The Past Vione ran, her expression and her gaze reflecting immeasurable anger. Her common sense disappeared; her mind was no longer clear. The only thing in her head was the desire to take revenge on Mireya.
The golden wolf would not allow it. He would not give Mireya a reason to do the same to Vione. So, he jumped and attacked Mireya. He bit Mireya’s hand, causing the pistol to fly into a random direction!
