Chapter 246: Baekui Five Needles!

Book:Back To Thrones Published:2024-11-6

These were three of the most prominent figures in Inassea. Lewis barely needed an introduction. Everyone knew that he was the head of the Alfredson family, worth hundreds of billions. A mere order from him could send ripples across the entire city.
As for Alex Gorden, he’s the Deputy Director of St. George Medical Center. He’s a veteran in his field, known to all as “Divine Doctor Gorden.” He had healed countless patients and held a high position of respect in Inassea.
The last one, Seth Fetch, was a renowned figure in traditional medicine throughout the Southwest. For years, he had been moving in wealthy circles, so his reputation was amplified by these elite endorsements, making him a revered figure in the field of traditional medicine!
Anyone witnessing this scene would certainly be taken aback. They might wonder what could be significant enough to bring three prominent figures together, even making them bow humbly. But to Kayden, scenes like this were routine, nothing surprising or out of the ordinary!
He looked over the three bigwigs with a calm, unbothered expression, then said, “No need to put up a front. I’ll just check on Sariah and then head out.” Without another word, he walked straight into the room.
He didn’t even spare a glance for these “big names,” and his indifference left them a bit embarrassed!
Still, they had to force polite smiles!
A moment later, Kayden saw Sariah lying on the bed. Despite being without makeup and in a vulnerable state, her beauty was breathtaking. She still had an allure that held an otherworldly grace.
She dressed in a black gauzy dress, her eyes closed tight, her face ghastly pale. All of these proved that she must have endured something harrowing. Kayden’s heart sank as he took in her condition. What happened to Wood wasn’t unexpected; it only confirmed his suspicions!
They’d finally made a move on Wood. She’d already lost her memory, and why they attacked her again? Or maybe he guessed wrong, and her amnesia wasn’t their doing after all? If that’s the case, then who on earth was the real one behind Wood’s amnesia? Across all of Seclela, only a select few would even dare to touch someone under his protection.
It had to be them!
Kayden was certain that they were behind this. But what was their real purpose? Was this some cruel demonstration to show him they could hurt anyone close to him, no matter how he tried to stop it? Was that the message?
Regardless of the reason, this organization was clearly in motion, and even the amnesiac Wood was on their target list. Their intent was obvious! Their ultimate target was Kayden, and they were making it crystal clear that they had the power to act with impunity.
What happened these days was all their doing: Flood’s death, Fletcher’s injury, the sniper who had just attempted to take him out, and now, Wood in this broken state. Each event was timed to perfection and nearly happened at the same time. This was no mere provocation. It was a blatant challenge to Kayden’s authority! They’d crossed the line!
A chill glint crossed Kayden’s eyes as he thought about it, and a bloodthirsty intent surged through him.
No one had ever controlled him. He was always the one in control. This was outright defiance. They’d chosen to cross his line and that… that was unforgivable!
“What happened?” Kayden asked, steadying his breath.
The girl by Wood’s side explained, “This morning I came to call Miss Faulkner for breakfast. I knocked and called for her, but there was no answer. So I pushed the door open, and there she was-collapsed on the bed.”
“I checked her over,” Seth chimed in cautiously, his eyes fixed on Kayden as though afraid to misspeak. “The weird thing is I don’t see any physical problems with her. Her heartbeat and everything seem normal.”
Kayden moved immediately to the bedside, feeling Wood’s pulse.
Her pulse was steady, and it should mean that it was not a life-threatening situation. Yet Kayden sensed something was off. His gaze drifted to the top of her head. Surprisingly, he spotted some silver needles, which were thinner than hair, on her Baekui acupoint.
Kayden gently parted her hair, exposing the needles. Seth quickly moved closer. The sight stunned him, his eyes widening in disbelief. “What!”
“This is…” He turned to Alex, and they exchanged a shocked glance.
“Defender, what on earth is it?” Seth asked, his voice laced with bewilderment.
The Baekui acupoint, at the very top of the head, is a vital point in one’s body. Hitting it could be fatal. Whoever poked these needles into Sariah’s head had clearly intended to take her life.
“Baekui Five Needles!” Kayden murmured.
Of course, Seth had never heard of the Baekui Five Needle. With a puzzled expression, he looked at Kayden and said, “I’ve never come across this technique. I’m pretty well-read and have seen many medical texts. Why haven’t I seen a single mention of this needling method?”
A cold, dismissive sneer escaped Kayden. “It’s no surprise you wouldn’t know.”
Seth’s face flushed slightly with embarrassment. Even though this guy was the Defender, he was barely in his twenties. He behaved like he knew everything. How arrogant!
Kayden had no intention of debating the point. Instead, he focused intently on the structure of the five silver needles!
Yes, it was unmistakably the Baekui Five Needle. It’s a sinister needling technique long lost to time which was usually used for evil purposes. Kayden, with all his knowledge, was right not to recognize it. Rumor had it the technique was deemed too dangerous, and too dark, and that’s why it had been erased from the records. Yet here it was, resurfacing in the worst way, and being used to hurt Kayden’s companion.
Wood was now on the brink of death. Whoever used this- what on earth did they intend for? Did they want Wood to die? If Kayden hadn’t recognized this technique, or if some other ignorant person happened to remove the needles, Wood might have died already.
Standing nearby and watching, Seth grew even more anxious. He urged Kayden, “Since you’ve figured out where the problem lies, then hurry up and pull these needles out! She is dying! You can’t leave these needles in this acupoint for this long!”
Kayden turned and shot Seth a cold glance. As expected, Seth was nothing but an old know-it-all who actually knew nothing. A mocking smile played on Kayden’s lips. “If I had pulled it out straight away, she’d be dead by now. Lucky you were not the one to find those needles, otherwise she might not have survived your ‘help.'”
Seth froze at these words. He only knew the Baekui point was deadly; it was a place only the most skilled doctor dared to touch.
Moving with quiet precision, Kayden took out a packet of silver needles and carefully placed a few in strategic points on Wood’s body.
“The Wind Pool acupoint!” Seth murmured, watching in awe.
Without a word, Kayden continued his work. Once he had finished with the new needles, he carefully removed the needles from the top of Wood’s head. She didn’t wake immediately, but as the last needle came out, her eyes slowly opened. The miracle happened, and she had actually woken up. As soon as she opened her eyes, tears overflowed from her eyes.
She gasped, “No, no, no!” There was evident panic in her voice as she screamed hysterically, her head jerking back and forth. Finally, with a burst of energy, she jolted upright.
As her gaze fell on Kayden, she didn’t hesitate. She threw herself into his arms, clinging to him tightly.
