It was clear to anyone listening that Sharon had an affinity for Donna, a scent that lingered on her skin and in her voice.
“She’s fine,” Nelly said quickly, her wolf ears perking up at the sound of Sharon’s name. “One of the reasons I called is to thank you; she told me how you took the time to send her here. The other reason is I want to invite you over.”
“Yes,” Sharon replied, her wolf lips curling into a smile. “That was the plan at first, but something came up. We had to take a transit flight elsewhere for two days. What if I go over after I’m done with my business?”
Nelly thought for a moment before nodding her approval. “No problem. You do what you have to do, and we’ll talk again when you’re back.”
“Sure.”
“That’s it for now. Be safe.”
With a deep growl, Alpha Kilian appeared behind Nelly. “Why did you come out here too?” Nelly asked, her wolf voice quivering slightly at his presence.
“Didn’t you care who contacted me?” Alpha Kilian snarled, his eyes flashing in the moonlight.
Nelly thought for a moment before nodding her head. “It means I believe in the boy who’s regained his memory. He wouldn’t lie to me!”
Alpha Kilian’s eyes softened and he pulled Nelly into his embrace, his wolf arms enveloping her tightly. “Don’t worry, Nelly. I’ll never lie to you again.”
As Alpha Kilian leaned in to kiss Nelly, a throaty cough interrupted them. Dave had appeared, and he raised an eyebrow at the pair’s intimate moment.
“Are you blind or something?” Alpha Kilian snarled, his wolf eyes blazing. “Sorry. Shall we pretend that I never came out?” Dave suggested with a smirk.
Nelly left the two of them to their own devices, and Alpha Kilian’s attention returned to Dave. “You must be jealous because you’ve been single for far too long, so let me give you a piece of advice. Start seeing somebody instead of ruining my moments.”
Dave bristled at the arrogant tone in Alpha Kilian’s voice. “Do you think you’re all that just because you’re in love, Alpha Kilian?”
Alpha Kilian nodded, his eyes softening as he remembered Nelly. “Yes. Not only that, but I also have three children.”
Dave couldn’t help but roll his eyes sarcastically. “Do you know what it’s like to learn to love someone after marrying them? Wait, that’s not the case because I’d already fallen for her when I was young. A lot happened between then and now, and it’d take me a while to tell you everything.”
Alpha Kilian’s eyes glowed with the memory of Nelly. “What I wouldn’t give to have a mirror so I can show you how stupid you look right now.”
Dave sneered as he glanced inside the house. “You two still have each other even after all you’ve been through. Not everyone is as fortunate as you are.”
Sensing Dave’s bitterness, Alpha Kilian softened his tone. “Someday, you’ll find your other half too.”
Dave shook his head dismissively. “Forget about it. Freedom suits me more.”
Alpha Kilian’s half-smile returned. “By the way, I have good news about the matter you wanted me to look into.” He pulled out his phone, revealing a photo of a bloody boy. “Take a look.”
As soon as Alpha Kilian saw the person on the screen, he stiffened. It was the same boy he had seen passing him in the car, the one with a bloodied face. His wolf eyes blazed red with fury.
When Alpha Kilian entered the living room, Nelly was having fun with the three children.
The scene was so heartwarming that it would give any wandering man the desire to settle down. Had any sailor stepped into the house then, they would probably be convinced to stay on land for good.
Alpha Kilian would give anything to build a happy life with Nelly and the kids, but he knew there was something he must do first.
If I don’t deal with the matter, Nelly will have to. But how can I let her do such a thing? It must be me. With that thought in mind, Alpha Kilian was instantly filled with mixed emotions while his eyes turned dull.
The moment Donna saw Alpha Kilian standing at the door, she threw herself at the man before lifting her head to look at him. “Daddy, are you hurt?”
Alpha Kilian then suppressed his emotions and smiled at Donna . “It’s nothing serious!” “Let me see!” requested Donna with concern in her eyes.
Alpha Kilian thought for a moment but eventually lowered himself. “Is it here?” inquired Donna , curious to see the wound.
However, as soon as her hand touched Alpha Kilian ‘s shirt, the man picked her up. “Ah!” Donna cried out in surprise and giggled because of the sudden action. “Put me down, Daddy!” demanded the girl.
Still, Alpha Kilian continued lifting his daughter high in the air as he inquired, “So do you still think I’m unwell?”
In response, Donna quickly shook her head smiling.
Only then did Alpha Kilian embrace his daughter. Looking at Donna , he could not help but be reminded how much he missed her.
“Did you miss me?” asked Alpha Kilian .
“Of course! I’ve said that many times already!” replied Donna , pretending to sound impatient.
“How much do you miss me?” Alpha Kilian continued with his questions.
After thinking seriously, Donna answered, “As much as I’d miss cake if I hadn’t had any for days.”
Alpha Kilian chuckled when he heard the reply. “You don’t miss me. You just want me to take you out for a good meal, don’t you?”
“No,” denied Donna , still smiling.
“So, you don’t want to have something delicious?” Alpha Kilian raised an eyebrow playfully at his daughter, who shook her head in response.
Then, the man nodded in all seriousness. “Okay. I was planning to take you somewhere awesome, but I guess we’ll just settle with whatever.”
Donna ‘s eyes instantly lit up when she heard that. “Where were you planning to take me, Daddy?” “Oh, we’re not going there anymore.”
“You’re the best, Daddy! You’re my favorite person in the world!” Donna immediately began buttering her father up.
Alpha Kilian utterly succumbed to his daughter’s pleas.
“Fine. I’ll take you somewhere with awesome food,” promised Alpha Kilian .
“I knew you were the best, Daddy!” With her petite arms around Alpha Kilian , Donna happily buried her head in her father’s chest.
Looking at the precious father-and-daughter moment, Nelly inquired, “What about me?” Donna then turned around to face Nelly and replied, “Nelly is the best too!”
With her arms spread open and a big smile on her face, Nelly gestured for the girl to come to her.
Even though Donna enjoyed the affection provided by the two adults, as a thoughtful girl, she understood that one was unwell and the other injured.
“Put me down, Daddy. Otherwise, Nelly is going to start worrying about your injury,” urged Donna after shifting her attention back to her father.
The little girl’s words were enough to amuse the adults, so Alpha Kilian put her down as requested and patted her on the head. “Nothing escapes you, huh?”
“Of course. My eyes are as sharp as an eagle’s,” joked Donna .
However, Nelly denied what the girl said when Alpha Kilian looked at her. “That’s not it. I just want to hold you.”
“But it breaks Daddy’s heart that you’re unwell,” stated Donna , rendering Nelly speechless.
Alpha Kilian immediately nodded in agreement when he heard his daughter. Donna is getting more and more understanding.
With that, Donna turned to her father. “I’m right, aren’t I, Daddy?”
“You are. In fact, you took the words right out of my mouth,” answered Alpha Kilian , making his daughter smile like a blooming flower.
Nelly simply smiled as well while gazing at the father and daughter.
“Nelly , if you’re up for it, why don’t we go out for dinner tonight?” asked Alpha Kilian as he approached Nelly .
Meeting the children’s hopeful gaze, Nelly thought for a brief while before nodding in response. “Sure.”
The second she agreed to go out, the kids were over the moon.
“Then you should get ready. I’ll let you know when it’s time to go,” informed Alpha Kilian .
