As Hayden gaped at the little boy in front of him, his fangs elongated and he couldn’t help his growl as he asked, “What are you doing?”
Ignoring him, Tony kept his glowing yellow eyes fixed on the screen, his claws tapping furiously on the keyboard. The expression on his young face was so solemn that it was as though he had transformed into a ferocious beast.
“What…” Hayden was going to speak further when his werewolf senses heightened and he abruptly glimpsed the image on the interface change all of a sudden. At once, his feral eyes went wide.
H-How is this possible? His werewolf voice echoed in his mind.
At that precise moment, Miguel beside him let out a howl of excitement, baring his sharp teeth. “Incredible, Hayden! Great job!”
Just a heartbeat before the other party broke past our firewalls, Tony suddenly fixed the final loophole and hunched over, baring his sharp canines, while successfully trapping them in. It was simply mind-blowing! He blew my lupine mind!
Thrilled to the core, Hayden snapped his wolfish head over to look at Tony, only to be greeted by the sight of the young boy sitting before the computer with his claws tapping furiously on the keyboard.
Huh? Bewilderment swamped him, and Hayden’s growl subsided for a moment.
Meanwhile, Hayden was rooted at the side, his lupine eyes blinked blankly with surprise written all over his furry face. He didn’t quite know what to say.
“What’s going on here?” Miguel questioned, his voice tinged with a lupine growl.
Just then, Tony’s voice echoed through the room, commanding, “Miguel, listen to my directives from this moment onward. Back me up while I attack.”
Miguel, his wolfish demeanor mirroring Tony’s intensity, was wholly baffled. “What?” I didn’t mishear him, did I?
In the brief second when he hesitated, the other party launched a counterattack once more. Again, Tony, with his instinctual lupine reflexes, went on the defense and thwarted it. This time, the few werewolves at the side witnessed it.
They gawked at Tony as though he was a bloodthirsty Alpha wolf.
Even then, Tony didn’t take his lupine eyes off the computer. Without even turning to them, he reprimanded, “Continue spacing out if you want to lose!”
Miguel had no retort left then, for Tony was the one who saved the day both times during the critical juncture.
Even if I’m dreaming at this instant, I’ve got to continue playing along with this dream! Instantly reverting to his primal instincts, Hayden declared, his growl rumbling through the room, “Okay, I’ll back you up!”
At the side, Nick chimed in, his eyes glowing with a primal fire, “Count me in!”
Thus, a new round of attack began.
Staring at the screen, Tony said to Hayden with a low, menacing growl, “Are you sure you don’t want to switch places?”
Hayden promptly gathered his lupine wits about him and shot to his feet to give his place to Tony. Then, he even thoughtfully pushed the chair behind the latter with a clawed hand.
Sitting down with his lupine eyes pinned on the screen, Tony continued, his voice infused with a feral edge, “Buy me a minute, Miguel. If you can hold out, I’ll have you howling to the moon tonight!”
By then, Miguel had already regained his lupine composure. “Okay. I’ll hold out no matter what!” he vowed, his growl echoing through the room.
Tony said nothing further. He fixated his fierce lupine eyes on the screen, line after line of glowing green codes flashing past like lightning.
Beside him, Hayden merely watched at first. Subsequently, something occurred to him, and he whipped out his phone to record the scene. At that exact moment, Ben, the oldest and most respected werewolf in the room, walked over without warning and growled softly at him.
In the past, he merely regarded Ben as a child.
But at that very moment, his confidence inexplicably faltered significantly. “I-I just want to learn from him,” Hayden’s growl quivered.
Still, Ben shook his head, his growl resonating with dominance. “You may watch, but you can’t record it!”
Say, he’s just a pup, so why am I feeling so guilty? This is downright incredulous. After pondering for a while, Hayden ultimately put his phone away with a low growl.
And so, they continued looking at the screen, their eyes glowing with primal energy.
In that one minute of defense, Tony successfully fixed their loopholes and even established a dummy location to mislead the other party.
In an instant, the tables were turned. Compared to the dire situation earlier, it was like prowling in the moonlight.
As Miguel watched from the side, his lupine brain couldn’t quite digest things, but the upturn of his lips brimmed with pride, his lupine growl triumphantly escaping his snarling muzzle.
“Awesome!” he exclaimed, his growl reverberating through the room.
Tony studied the computer, the corners of his lupine mouth lifted a fraction, revealing his razor-sharp teeth, even as a flash of disdain flittered across his predatory eyes, glowing with intensity. “The show has just begun!”
Miguel gazed at him, his lupine eyes shining brightly with respect and awe.
“Listen to my orders. I’m going to start attacking right now. You’re with me, Miguel. As for the rest, continue backing us up. Notify me immediately if there are any problems!” Tony announced, his voice dripping with power.
“Even if they decode that location of yours, it’ll take them some time!” Miguel crowed with delight, his growl echoing through the room as though he was the one who accomplished that feat.
Tony didn’t bother responding to that. His predatory eyes were trained on the computer with an expression that was calm and unruffled. “We’re starting now!”
Jolted back to reality, Miguel turned back to the computer and swiftly started attacking by following Tony’s lead, his growls harmonizing with Tony’s prowess.
This time, things went far smoother than expected. Besides, such an attack felt very much as though they were running through the forest, hunting their prey, with one of them attacking and the other supporting. The only difference was that Hayden’s role as support seemed pretty dispensable, for the matter would have been resolved whenever he wanted to do something to assist.
Verily, it boggled the werewolf mind.
Out of the blue, someone interjected, their voice laced with a primal growl, “They seem to have realized that the location is bogus and have started attacking again!”
Hearing that, Miguel queried, his growl resonating with curiosity and determination, “So fast?”
“They’ve even got quite a pack of werewolves on their side!”
Immediately, Miguel swung his fierce lupine gaze at Tony, questioning, “So, what should we do now?”
His ability to lead was stellar prior to Tony’s appearance, but at that instant, he turned into an insecure lad in search of reassurance.
“I didn’t expect you guys to be able to howl them back for long anyway. I was merely testing Midnight Fang Pack’s werewolf hackers’ capabilities earlier,” Tony responded with a snarl.
“What?” Miguel exclaimed, his growl mingling with disbelief.
He was testing them? Although there’s nothing wrong with his strategy, I can’t shake off the feeling that his remark seems a tad inappropriate, Hayden thought, his furry snout scrunching slightly.
Still, he inquired weakly, his voice mixed with wonder and anticipation, “What should we do next, then?”
