THEO
I wasn’t sure what it was, but something told me that this was finally going to be over soon. It felt like
a positive thing, but at the same time… I was exhausted.
I’d fought for so long.
I just needed it to be over, one way or another… and I was starting to lose the ability to care which
way it went.
AVA
Once we got the go ahead to move, we met our trackers in the forest half a mile out from the bunker.
“A train is due in ten minutes, Your Highness,” one of the warriors stated. “Our best bet is to move in
when the train is coming past. The noise will cover our movements, and fewer guards patrol this area
when trains pass too.”
“Perfect. Everyone, be ready to move.”
And we did.
The door was completely unguarded when we reached it, making slipping in easy. “Callum, I need
two warriors to stand guard at the main door and take out any wolves that are hovering around.”
“On it, my Queen.”
I shifted when we came through the door, choosing to move through the complex as a Lycan rather
than a wolf. My hearing and eyesight was even better in this form.
We cleared the ground floor of the complex quickly, leaving behind a pile of bodies of Matthew’s
security team. The next floor down was much the same, as was the next.
Finally… Once we reached the third underground floor, things started to look promising. This floor
was much larger than the others, with more rooms, winding corridors, and just about everything else a
creepy underground bunker needed. We split up, sweeping the floor methodically.
Typically, it appeared Theo was being held in the last room at the end of the corridor. I paused outside
the door, waiting for the others to pick up, and took a moment to listen in to what was going on.
“Well, Theo,” Matthew’s voice was low, snarky and made me want to punch him. I was looking
forward to this. “They’re evidently not coming for you, are they? Your little note pushed them away.”
And at that point, I snapped.
I shifted back to my human form, and kicked the door through, shattering the lock.
“Matthew,” I called out, even I could hear the homicidal tint to my voice. “Hello again.”
“Oh, my Queen, I’m so glad you could make it!”
I tilted my head to the side, watching him with curiosity.
“What are you planning, Matthew?”
“Well… I’m going to let Theo go, if and only if you stay and be my mate.”
I laughed so hard I snorted. I couldn’t help it.
Whilst I was laughing at Matthew, the rest of my team was entering the room, spreading out around
the edges. Matthew might have had six wolves with him, but they were clearly no match for the
firepower I’d brought with me.
“Oh, Matthew. If you think I’m going to do that, you’re delusional. Let me tell you how this is going
to go down,” I growled, taking one step towards him. “I am not going anywhere near you, unless it
involves kicking your backside for what you have done to one of my mates. Theo is coming home
with us. You will be cuffed in silver and spending as much time locked in our dungeons as we deem
necessary. Once everything has blown over, we’ll see what we’re going to do with you.”
His smug expression dropped a little, but he didn’t really respond. “You’ll be reunited with your
brother too, Matthew!”
“What brother?”
“Julian.”
“He’s dead.”
“Nope,” I chuckled. “Not yet anyway. He’s in our dungeon. How do you think we knew where to find
you?”
“He wouldn’t sell me out.”
“He didn’t have much of a choice, Matthew.”
His face fell.
I gave a small whistle, and that was all that was needed to pass on the message that it was go time.
Within minutes, Matthew’s wolves were in pieces on the floor, and it was just us and him.
“Oh, Matthew.” I gave him a sad smile. “We could have done this the easy way, but apparently not.” I
stepped towards him, my head cocked to one side.
“I’d never come willingly,” he growled.
“And that’s why you just lost your entire team, Matthew.”
I stepped back from him and gave Callum a small nod. As soon as I did, Callum and three of the
Lycan warriors surrounded Matthew, so he ended up pinned to the floor with his arms behind his
back.
“What do you want to do with him, my Queen?” Callum asked.
“He’s coming with us. He may have a use yet.” I smirked at him. “I saw a car on the way in. If
someone can hotwire it, he can go in the boot.”
Oscar nodded, before disappearing out of the room, leaving Noah and I to get Theo out.
He was tied to a chair in the middle of the room. His head was slumped forwards, and there was blood
running down his face. His eyes were closed, and his entire body was tense as if in pain.
“Theo,” I whispered, cupping his face with one hand. “We’re getting you out of here.”
He groaned in response, hardly moving. His breathing was shallow, laboured, his heart rate was slow.
I could hardly feel his wolf.
“Theo, Hermes,” I whispered. “We’re here to take you home.”
Noah and I undid his chains, and as soon as we did, Theo’s legs collapsed, nearly sending him to the
floor. “Fuck,” I groaned. All of my boys really were towering mountains of muscle, which might
really do it for me in the bedroom… but right now, no. It was more problematic.
“CALLUM!” I shouted through the mind link. “We need help moving Theo.”
Between us all, we got Theo settled in the back seat of the car wrapped in blankets we’d found, and
threw Matthew’s unconscious body in the boot.
“Alex!” I mindlinked once we were on the way. “I’ve sent six of our warriors to join the scouts you
sent out for me. Callum, Oscar, Noah and I are bringing Theo home, along with a special guest we’ve
chucked in the boot.”
“You found him!” Alex’s voice was ecstatic.
“I told you I would, Beta.”
“And I never doubted you, my Queen,” he smirked in response.
I rolled my eyes at him.
“I could feel that eye roll from here, Your Highness!”
“Shut it, Alex,” I laughed. Finding Theo meant I felt like a massive weight had been lifted off my
shoulders. “On a business front. We’ll be back at Blood Moon in about an hour. I need a team ready to
take Theo to the pack hospital, and a cell ready for our friend Matthew Stanley.”
