Chapter 9: All Night Long

AVA
They kept me up until 2am. Of course it was great fun and we all went to sleep in a tangle of bodies that were thoroughly sated, but it meant when my unexpected alarm woke me up, I’d had less than three hours sleep.
I thought at first that the night before had been a dream, but it hadn’t. I did indeed have sex with Callum; he had started to push inside me as we went up the stairs of his house. Oscar followed, as did Noah and Theo. It was a good night, and I was sore, very sore.
Banging jerked me awake, and I noticed it had Callum too. He sat up, rubbing his eyes, swearing when he saw the clock. 4. 35am.
“What?” he shouted out.
“Callum, I know Ava is in there with you, she needs to come to train.” It was the Beta. The Beta knew I’d spent the night with his sons.
I grumbled under my breath whilst I worked on untangling myself from the pile of bodies. “This is your fault, Callum. It’s your fault I’m about to train on less than three hours sleep.”
“You loved it,” he whispered, smirking, before going back to shout to his dad. “She’s just getting ready, she’ll meet you downstairs!”
I met Beta Alexander in the kitchen, gladly taking the coffee he offered me. “Morning, Ava,” he smirked.
I scowled at him, I could feel the massive bags under my eyes.
“Morning, Beta,” I grumbled.
“Ava, you just spent the night with my sons. At this point, you can call me Alex when we aren’t in public.”
I chuckled, nearly choking on my coffee as I did. “Fair enough, Alex,” I laughed.
He sipped his coffee, looking at me over the rim of the glass. “If I’m not mistaken, the Alpha’s sons are here too.”
I blushed, not wanting to answer the question.
Alex ran his hand through his hair, shaking his head. “I don’t want any details at all, they’re my sons and you’re like a daughter to me, just promise to tell me if any of them hurt you.”
“I will, I promise. But you know I could knock any of them on their backsides if I had to.”
“I know, Ava, just let me have your back on this one.”
I smiled, a truly honest smile.
“Alright then, shall we go to the training ground?”
I nodded. “I might be exhausted and a little hungover, but Artemis really wants to run.”
As we walked to the training ground, I asked the question I was dying to know the answer to. “How did you know I was there?”
He met my gaze, his face concerned. “How much did you drink last night?”
“A fair amount, I wasn’t inebriated or anything though, why?”
“Your control must have slipped, I could smell Artemis.”
I stopped dead in my tracks. “I haven’t lost control in a long time, and I definitely didn’t drink enough for that.”
“You might have just been distracted, Ava. You would have been attempting to sneak into my house with not only my sons but the Alpha’s sons too at the time it went.” He gave me a small smile. “I haven’t been able to smell Artemis outside since we left, it looks like your control slipped once you were already inside the house, which is something at least.”
I stood there, deep in thought, trying to work out what would have happened. Then it clicked. My control probably dropped on the stairs, because that was where Callum picked me up; his jeans were undone and his cock was pressing against me, just pushing in that first inch as he walked.
“You worked out when and why it went, didn’t you?” Alex distracted me from my thoughts.
I nodded, blushing.
“Do you want to tell me…?”
“You don’t want to know, promise.” I blushed more.
Blame Callum, I mumbled in my head, not realising I’d actually said it out loud.
“Okay, Ava, yeah I don’t need to know the rest of that thought.”
Fortunately, before the conversation could get any more awkward, we reached the training ground.
I dropped my stuff in my usual hut, shifting and meeting Kieran in the middle of the training ground. As usual, Artemis and Kieran dipped their heads to each other, before taking off towards the trees at a sprint.
We hadn’t gotten far when I smelled something. Something unpleasant. “Beta!” I shouted through the mindlink. “Rogues, I smell rogues.”
He swore, turning and running back towards me. “How many?”
“Three.”
“Stay behind me, Ava, Artemis. Don’t shift back. I know it’s not in your nature to hide, but this time, please don’t fight me on this.”
I nodded. I wasn’t happy about it, but still.
Beta Alexander shifted back, motioning for me to stay in the trees.
“You are trespassing on the Blood Moon Pack’s territory, what is your business here?”
“We’re looking for a girl,” one of the rogues called out, his voice rough like he’d smoked a pack a day for life.
“A girl?”
“Yes, a special girl. A special girl with a special wolf.”
Gut feeling said that was me. They were looking for me.
“What is her relationship with you?”
“She’s our boss’ mate, he wants us to bring her home.”
My heart sank. Oh God I hope it isn’t me.
I moved backwards, further into the trees, away from the rogue.
I couldn’t hear the rest of the Beta’s conversation over my pounding ears, not until he appeared back in the mindlink anyway. “Ava, get out of here. Go home. I’ll get rid of the rogues.”
I nodded through the link, before turning and sprinting back to the training ground to get dressed.
I hadn’t been at the training ground long when Alex reached me. He shifted back in the middle of the field, running towards me. “Are you okay?” He grabbed my shoulders, looking me over for injuries.
“I’m fine, Beta, I promise.”
He nodded. “Good…”
“Who were they?”
“Just three random rogues. If they are looking for you, Ava, I won’t let anything happen to you, okay?”
I nodded gratefully.
“Okay. Let’s go to the pack house and grab breakfast, we can catch up with the Alpha then too.”
