At 7pm, the phone rang again and Luna answered the phone. It went silent for a long time until Aurora said “Ms Luna” she called.
The voice was somewhat familiar and Luna was surprised. This is not her private detective. “Yes, who is on the line?”
“This is Aurora Blake…” When Aurora finished her conversation with Luna Wesley, the latter said she was leaving to X-city the next weekend with her Mom.
Luna Wesley shed tears of joy. She knew it, Ava Leon was not dead, how can she be dead? All those saga they made were just empty news.
Now, she knows her freedom came courtesy of Ava Leon. But how did she become so great within the shortest time? Looks like there are many questions she’ll have to ask her when they meet.
This really made her happy. Had she known that her dear friend was going to call her, she would never have visited Adrian Lester. Anyways, she’ll make herself unavailable to him henceforth.
Next morning, Adrian woke up on the floor of his room with a terrible hangover. He saw the bottles of alcohol he consumed and sighed.
These alcohols have really acted as a saviour for him often. They made him forget his pains and he would sleep peacefully but once it’s effect was over, he would remember everything again. But the point is, it helped when he needed it the most.
He got off the floor and went to have a bath. When he came downstairs, everyone was having breakfast. He sat down and asked “Please Ms. Alice, help me with a sobering soup”
Alice has now long been used to this respectful side of Adrian. Things are normal with him from before and all the employees could testify to that.
“Alright, Mr Adrian” Alice said and was going when Adrian called her back. “Just always refer to me as Adrian. Put that ‘Mr’ part of it away” he corrected.
It suddenly makes him feel uncomfortable and he doesn’t like it. What arrogance brought to anyone in this life, himself an example.
“Grandfather, your birthday is tomorrow, what would you want me to get you for a present?” Adrian asked, trying to get his grandfather’s attention.
“Nothing,” grandfather Lester replied. What does his 85th birthday mean to him when he couldn’t spend it with his granddaughter Ava.
“I’m thinking of organising a cocktail party for you and inviting only a few years. You deserve to be a celebrated grandfather” Adrian suggested.
“It’s not in your place to organise a party for me, Adrian” grandfather snapped at him and a cold shiver ran through everyone’s spine.
Adrian didn’t say a word again for the rest of that morning. He ate his breakfast and got off to work. When he was gone, Richard pleaded with his father.
“Father, please take Adrian back as your son. He was wrong, he didn’t do right, he cannot wash his hands clean off Ava Leon and Sam’s death. Yes, he was wrong.
But he’s a different person now. You can testify to it that he felt remorseful about everything. It hurts you, but he was actually trying to punish the one who tried to hurt his grandfather.
Take a look at it, he was actually helping you somehow. Please four years have passed, aren’t you going to put everything behind you now?” he coaxed.
“How about Ava’s life, and that of the unborn baby, how can I put that behind me?” Grandfather Lester asked. He is the reason why three lives were lost. How can he put everything behind him and pretend as if nothing happens.
“Adrian would have been the father of that baby if it was born. Do you think you feel hurt more than him about the unborn baby? Who can feel the loss of a child more than its own parents?
Adrian is passing through a lot lately. He might be hiding it from us all, but I know it because I’m his father. He got himself so drunk that he couldn’t have dinner last night. Why would a young man like him do that, isn’t it for him to erase the burden of worries on him?” Richard pleaded.
Three days later:
Patrick Connor was sitting in the lobby. He was waiting to be invited by the management team of the Blake’s business world presided by Santiago Blake, the President of the company.
He’d submitted a proposal and he’d been invited by the company. As he sat down, his palm was sweaty. He doesn’t know if this contract would be approved or not.
He doesn’t have a financial position that would earn him a better chance of competing with his rivals but then he still came, all things being equal, they might consider him and give him a chance to supply a few other things.
When it was time for Patrick Connor to be called, he was informed that the team was going on recess. The presentation has been suspended and Patrick felt disappointed.
Others have been attended to except him but perhaps his profile has been considered and he couldn’t be offered a chance to even make a presentation.
It wasn’t quite a few minutes after he was told that he saw Santiago Blake strode out in his tall physique and turned to glance at someone seated, he paused and asked “Were you invited for the presentation?”
“Yes sir” Patrick replied, standing up and smoothing his suit. His heart was beating fast. This must be Santiago Blake, the President of the company.
He’d read about him and knew a few things about him. His family is wealthy and his net worth was far higher than Adrian Lester, if he could still remember.
“Can you wait for me, I’ll go through your file myself” Santiago requested. He needed to join Charlotte for lunch and be back.
“I’ll gladly do sir” Patrick answered, a beam of excitement showing on his face. He asked if he could wait, who says he cannot wait? He would lay on the floor till the next morning if he wanted him to do so.
“Alright” Santiago replied and strode out. He likes it when everyone is given a chance. He’d already dismissed others. He couldn’t call them back but he would go through this fellow profile when he comes back.
After lunch, Santiago asked “Aurora, can you accompany me to go through a profile?” He asked. He decides to have someone else with him. At least two people’s assertion is better than one person’s.
“When?” He asked. Her momma flight would arrive in three hours and he would like to accompany his chauffeur to pick them both from the airport. Her momma and Luna Wesley.
“Now, it’s going to be quick” he responded and Aurora shrugged. She can still make it back on time.
“Okay” she agreed.
