Sarah pov
I couldn’t understand the anger that surged within me as I made my way down the hallway, my heart pounding, when someone brushed against my shoulder.
I looked up to see Amelia, the girl I despise with all my being. She was here with her companion, Alpha Lucas, but her unpleasant nature was unmistakable.
“I see you’re not blind,” she remarked sharply.
I turned to face her, my gaze locking onto her self-satisfied expression. Her bright green eyes glinted with malice, igniting the anger inside me.
“Amelia,” I said, my voice dripping with disdain. “What a delightful surprise. I was just reflecting on how much I appreciate your incessant interference.”
Her lips twisted into a cunning smile, her blonde hair flowing like a golden river. “Interference? Oh, Sarah, I’m merely adding some excitement.”
Alpha Lucas stood next to her, his expression unreadable, but I caught a hint of concern in his eyes, as if urging her to ease the tension.
“Excitement?” I echoed, my voice thick with sarcasm. “Is that your way of saying you enjoy ruining lives?”
Amelia’s grin widened, her tone dripping with superiority. “You’re still hung up on Ethan, aren’t you? How charming.”
My fists tightened, nails digging into my skin. “You don’t know anything about it.”
She stepped closer, her voice turning menacing. “I know Ethan has moved on, while you’re still trapped in the past. How sad.”
A crimson fog blurred my sight, fury surging through me like molten lava. How could she?
“You think you’re superior to me?” I growled, my tone low and threatening. “You believe you can just stroll in here and show me disrespect?”
Alpha Lucas stepped in, his voice steady yet authoritative. “Amelia, that’s enough.”
Amelia held my gaze, but she took a slight step back, her grin faltering.
“I’m merely stating the truth, Sarah,” she replied, her voice laced with feigned sweetness. “You’re clinging to something that’s long gone. It’s time to let go.”
My laughter was cold and devoid of joy. “You want me to let go? You, of all people, should know about obsession.”
Amelia’s eyes sparked with fury, but I continued, my words dripping with disdain.
“You’re just as fixated on Ethan as I am. The difference is, I have a reason to be. You’re merely a pathetic intruder.”
The atmosphere crackled with tension, Alpha Lucas’s gaze fierce with warning. Amelia’s expression twisted into a snarl, her fists clenched tightly.
“You’ll regret those words,” she spat.
I smirked, a chilling, calculated smirk. “I’m trembling in fear.”
With a final, scornful look, Amelia turned sharply and walked away, Alpha Lucas trailing closely behind.
“Hey, wait up,” I called, my voice thick with sarcasm.
“You are a bitter soul.”
Amelia stopped, her posture rigid as she faced me. Alpha Lucas’s eyes narrowed, silently warning me to be cautious.
“A bitter soul?” Amelia echoed, her voice laced with malice. “You’re in no position to judge, Sarah. Your bitterness is unmistakable.”
I walked over to her, my smile sweet yet insincere. “At least my bitterness has a reason. Ethan has moved on, while you still hold onto the hope that he’ll notice you.”
Amelia’s expression twisted in fury, her eyes gleaming like emeralds. “You don’t know anything about me or my relationships.”
“I know enough,” I replied, my tone light and mocking. “Ethan sees you as just a friend, and that’s what really eats at you, isn’t it?”
Alpha Lucas stepped in, his voice deep and authoritative. “Sarah, that’s enough.”
But Amelia’s anger had already boiled over. She stepped closer, her voice barely a whisper.
“You’re envious of my bond with Ethan. You’re upset that he confides in me and trusts me.”
I let out a laugh, cold and devoid of warmth. “Envious? Of you? Don’t make me laugh. Ethan puts up with you because of Lucas.”
Amelia’s eyes blazed, her fists clenched tightly. “You don’t know what you’re saying.”
“Don’t I?” I challenged, my voice rising. “Ethan’s heart belongs to Harper, and you’re just a sad replacement.”
Amelia’s face contorted, her lips curling into a snarl. “You’ll regret saying that.”
In a swift motion, Alpha Lucas grabbed Amelia’s arm, his grip unyielding. “Amelia, stop. Now.”
The tension was palpable, ready to ignite. Amelia’s chest rose and fell rapidly, her eyes still burning with anger.
Yet Alpha Lucas’s calm presence began to seep into her fury. She took a deep breath, her gaze locked on mine.
“This isn’t finished, Sarah,” she hissed before turning on her heel and marching away.
Alpha Lucas stayed behind, his gaze fixed on me. “Sarah, be cautious. You’re flirting with danger.”
I offered a sweet smile. “I can manage Amelia.”
As Alpha Lucas trailed after Amelia, a chill ran through me. I had sparked a fire, and it was bound to intensify.
A slow clap echoed from behind. I sensed enemies lurking nearby.
Sarah, what a daring move. Amelia is just a composed lady; I would have torn you apart, trust me. I turned to face the source of the voice. Alessia.
“What now?”
I pivoted, locking eyes with Alessia’s self-satisfied expression. Her jet-black hair flowed down her back like a dark waterfall, and her sharp brown eyes glimmered with malice.
“Alessia,” I said, my voice dripping with contempt. “What a delightful surprise. I was just reflecting on how much I appreciate your incessant meddling.”
Alessia’s lips twisted into a cunning grin, her tone laced with sarcasm. “Oh, Sarah, you’re so clever. I’m quaking in my boots.”
I rolled my eyes, glancing at her hands, still clapping in a slow, mocking rhythm. “What do you want, Alessia?”
Her smile broadened, her eyes sparkling with amusement. “I simply wanted to commend you on your courage. Challenging Amelia? That’s quite audacious, even for you.”
My eyes narrowed, suspicion bubbling beneath the surface. “What’s your game, Alessia?”
Her laughter sent a chill down my spine. “No game, Sarah. I’m merely enjoying the spectacle. You, Amelia, Lucas… it’s like a captivating soap opera.”
My fists tightened, nails digging into my skin. “You won’t cause any trouble, Alessia. Not this time.”
