Richard, upon seeing Emily’s arrival, finally gave them some privacy to talk. He left the two of them alone.
“I was so worried about you. But why did you have the heart to hide your recovery from me? I’ve always been by your side, but why am I the last person to know this?” Emily said in a trembling voice, tears falling at the corners of her red eyes.
Gently, Emily wiped away the tears running down her cheeks. “You owe me an explanation,” she said in a soft voice, yet filled with deep disappointment.
Daniel was silent, his eyes blank before he finally answered Emily. “We should talk about this at home,” he replied in a calm voice, not wanting to create a scene in his company.
When the two of them left the place, Sean had been listening to their conversation from behind the wall. Sean was the one who had told Emily that Daniel was attending a board meeting, but he didn’t know that Emily didn’t yet know that Daniel had woken up from his coma.
After Emily and Daniel arrived at Daniel’s residence, Daniel took Emily to his study room. The room was quiet and tense.
“Did you really want to surprise me so you kept your conscious self a secret from me?” Emily asked, thinking of the possibility that Daniel had deliberately kept his consciousness a secret to surprise her.
“I actually have something to say. I’ve been…” Emily didn’t have time to finish her sentence to said that she was pregnant because Daniel immediately cut her off.
“Lets getting a divorce, Em,” Daniel said firmly.
As if lightning had struck, Daniel’s words shook Emily’s feelings. “What are you saying? Divorce?” she hissed in a trembling voice, her red eyes radiating fear and deep disappointment.
“Yes, we should split up,” Daniel said firmly, his expression showing no hesitation.
“But why? What’s the reason we should split up?” asked Emily, her voice filled with confusion and disappointment.
Emily’s eyes turned red again, her face reflecting the devastation she felt at hearing Daniel’s words about wanting to divorce her. “Why? What makes you suddenly want to divorce me? Are all the promises of love that you expressed to me were fake?” hissed Emily with a voice full of satisfaction and disappointment.
Daniel pushed his wheelchair to a stop in front of his desk drawer. He opened the drawer and found an envelope. The envelope was the secret he had been hiding from Emily all this time.
Meanwhile, Emily, who was secretly peeping, saw Daniel find the envelope that she had found before, when Daniel was not at home. An anxious and agitated expression was clearly on Emily’s face as Daniel approached her.
Daniel opened the envelope and took out several photos of Emily, her father, and a photo of a man who was unfamiliar to him from that envelope.
“How can you have all these photos?” asked Emily, pretending to be surprised to see several photos scattered on the table, when in fact she had already seen the contents of the envelope. Her eyes met Daniel’s, searching for answers in that gaze.
“From the beginning, I deliberately approached you and made you my secretary so that I could avenge your father,” Daniel explained.
“What do you mean?” Emily’s brow furrowed in confusion as she heard Daniel’s explanation, her eyes searching for the truth behind those words. Her heart skipped a beat, feeling the disappointment and confusion that filled her mind.
“The man in that picture is your real father and also the murderer of my parents.” Daniel explained as he pointed to a picture of a strange man beside Fred.
“What?” Emily was shocked when she heard Daniel’s shocking confession. Fred had never told her about his biological father. Her heart rippled erratically, trying to digest such sudden information.
Emily shook her head quickly, refusing to believe what she had just heard. “No, I just only had one father. His name was Fred. You must have the wrong person,” she said with conviction.
“I’ve confirmed everything to be true. You are the biological daughter of the murderer of my parents,” Daniel added.
“So, you’re saying that this man is my biological father who killed your parents, and you approached me because you wanted revenge on him?” Emily’s tears fell down her cheeks again.
“We should get a divorce, Em. I can’t be with the daughter of a murderer,” Daniel said.
Emily was silent, her heart breaking into a million pieces. Everything she knew now felt like a big lie that haunted her. “After everything we went through together, all the love I received from you, it was all just to get back at me?” she murmured in a voice full of disappointment.
“I married you because our souls were trapped back then and I thought it would be good if I took revenge on you by pretending to love you and looking for the right time to dump you. Isn’t this a fitting punishment for the daughter of a murderer?” said Daniel.
Emily couldn’t believe what she was hearing. The pain she felt was so real. Tears continued to flow from the corners of her eyes. “What game are you playing, Daniel? Why are you doing this?” she hissed in a trembling voice.
Emily felt a pain in her heart that felt so real that her tears wouldn’t stop flowing. “Did you never love me?” she whispered in a broken voice, seeking reassurance that was difficult to accept.
“No, I didn’t,” Daniel replied firmly, his voice sounding cold and pitiless.
Emily fell silent, feeling a deep emptiness. Everything she had believed in all this time collapsed in an instant. She felt shattered, falling into an abyss of disappointment beyond measure.
With the rest of her strength, she tried to stay strong and wipe away the tears that kept rolling down her cheeks. And finally left the room, leaving Daniel alone.
Seeing Emily’s tears and sadness made Daniel feel so tight. Still remembered in Daniel’s mind the message delivered by Emily’s biological father. ‘You can’t be together or Emily will die. Please save my daughter.
Suddenly, Daniel’s cell phone rang, breaking into his sad reverie.
“Hello,” Daniel answered.
“We’ve caught the killer’s men, but…” came a man’s voice from the other end of the line that sounded worried.
Daniel’s heart sank. “But what?” he asked, his voice holding his breath.
“But we failed to catch your grandfather’s killer. He escaped,” the man continued.
Daniel fell silent. The words were like a crushing blow to him. Disappointment and anger mingled within him.
“We’ll keep looking for him,” the man continued, his voice trying to give hope. “He’s one of the mafia chiefs we’ve been looking for a long time.”
“Alright, thank you,” Daniel muttered before hanging up.
Meanwhile, in Thailand, the police finally found the skeletal remains of Emily’s biological father after decades of disappearance. The skeleton was found buried near an old tree that was hundreds of years old, the place where Emily and Daniel once got lost.

Seven years later,
“Mom, remember to come see that handsome uncle,” said little Grace while snacking on her favorite candy.
Emily stroked Grace’s long hair. Grace’s eyes were a blue color that was very similar to Daniel’s blue eyes. “Mom isn’t interested in a relationship with anyone anymore.”
“Why? Do you still miss Dad? He always sends us stuff and lots of money, but why doesn’t he ever come home? I don’t even know what his face looks like,” said Grace, making Emily speechless and smiling slightly.
“Mom, you have to come see him later. I promised the uncle that Mom would come. That uncle is very cold but I’m sure he’ll come because I can tell he’s a good person,” Grace replied.
“What? Why are you doing that? What if he really comes?” asked Emily.
“Good, that’s what I was hoping for,” Grace replied with a smile.
It wasn’t long before the car Emily was driving arrived in front of a school.
“Bye, Mom. I’ll see you later. You should dress up nicely and I really hope your meeting goes well,” said little Grace as she got out of the car and waved at Emily.
“That child,” Emily said, patting her forehead.
Emily looked at the watch on her hand, somehow feeling impatient to meet the uncle her little daughter said.
“I’m crazy, is it because I haven’t had a partner for so long that I’m this crazy?” Emily muttered as she shook her head.
“Should I go there?” muttered Emily again.
