Dimitri’s POV
The sun was rising over pack lands, casting a small but soft golden glow on the hills and valleys that stretches as far as the eye could see, pack lands all safe and protected from the wrath of the ancient wolf. The battle was behind us now, and the land and people were all healing .
For the first time in what felt like an eternity, I felt a sense of peace settling over me but it wasn’t just peace-it was a sort of hope.
Hope for the future, for my pack, for Kate, and for us.
I stood at the edge of the clearing, watching as the pack members move about, rebuilding the homes that had been destroyed, laughing, talking, and working together all from different packs but still werewolf nonetheless.
It would be a continuous effort, helping each other to rebuild along the way.
It was a sight I never thought I’d see again. The alliance between the packs had been stronger than I expected, and together, we had managed to secure a victory thought impossible.
And while there was more to be done, it was time to celebrate what we still had.
The hunt coming up this evening would be a good opportunity to do that, make a game of it and use the meat for a feast
My gaze shifted to where Kate, was standing near the infirmary, talking with a few of the other pack leaders, her smile bright and warm. She looked more alive than I had seen her in weeks, the exhaustion from the battle slowly fading away.
Even from a distance, I could feel the connection between us-a pull that had grown even stronger since the battle. She had been through so much, yet she was still strong, and kind.
She was my mate, my Luna, and the bond between us was undeniable.
As I watched her, an idea began to take root in my mind. It wasn’t enough to rebuild the pack and move forward. I wanted more. I wanted to make a statement, to show everyone, including Kate, just how much she meant to me. And I wanted to do it in the old way-the traditional werewolf way, the way our ancestors had bonded and solidified their unions under the eyes of the Moon Goddess.
I wanted to marry Kate.
Not in the human sense, with rings and vows in a church. No, I wanted something more ancient, more primal.
Something that would honor our heritage, our bond, and the supernatural power that coursed through both our veins .
My decision strengthened as I watched her smile, I took a deep breath and turned toward Alpha Denzel, who was standing nearby, overseeing the hunt preparations. His massive frame towered over the others, his dark eyes sharp and focused for a man who was younger than I was in age and experience, he was responsible. His pack would not suffer under his leadership.
“Denzel,” I called, striding over to him, he turned.
When he saw me approaching, he smiled and clapped me on the shoulder as I drew near pulling me in and shaking my arm
. “Dimitri, how are you feeling, brother?”
I grunted, returning his handshake.
“Healing well enough. I think the pack is stronger for what we’ve been through.”
He nodded, his expression serious for a moment.
“It’s been a long tough road. But we’re here. Thanks to you and Kate.”
“Thanks to all of us,” I corrected.
“We wouldn’t have survived without the alliance.” he waved a dismissive arm
“That aside everything is coming together nicely. The hunt should be a good one today.”
“Of course it will be. That is why I gave the task to you”
Denzel smiled again, but there was a hint of something in his eyes, a curiosity, he knew I hadn’t come over just to exchange pleasantries.
“I wanted to talk to you about something,” I said, my voice lowering as I glanced toward Kate again.
“I’ve been thinking… now that we’ve begun to rebuild, I want to take the next step.”
Denzel raised an eyebrow.
“Next step?”
“I want to marry Kate,” I said, the words feeling right as they left my mouth.
Denzel’s eyes lit up, and a grin spread across his face.
“Now that is something I can get behind. It’s about time you two made it official. ” I ran my hands through my hair
“Yeah, it’s long overdue.”
” I would have stolen her from you if you kept wasting time ” he mumbled and I growled lowly and he laughed, I huffed looking back to where Kate stood, she looked to me and smiled, I smiled back
” I want to do it the traditional way. In front of the packs, under the moon, the way it’s supposed to be done. I want our bond to be witnessed by the entire werewolf kingdom.”
“The old way, huh? That’s not something you see every day anymore.” he muttered
“So that’s why you’ve been keeping us around, huh? You want us here for the wedding.”
I nodded.
“I want all the packs to witness it. I want to show them that our bond-our unity-is what will carry us forward. Kate deserves something special-something that honors who we are and what we’ve been through together. ” I mumbled
” This isn’t just about me and Kate. It’s about all of us.”
” Say no more” Denzel said as he clapped me on the back.
“You’ve got my support, Dimitri. Just say the word, and we’ll be ready.”
I thanked him and Denzel moved off to finalize the preparations for the hunt, I turned my gaze back toward Kate. She had turned away from me , now caught up in conversation with the others. She was oblivious to my plotting but soon, she would know.
Soon, I would ask her to be mine in front of everyone-just us and the bond we shared as wolves, as mates.
I made my way back to the pack house, the idea of the ceremony already beginning to take shape in my mind. I knew exactly what I wanted, and I knew that it would be perfect.
A union not just of mates, but of leaders, of a pack coming together under the blessings of the Moon Goddess.
Now, I just had to propose.
Later that evening, once the sun had dipped below the skyline I found Kate sitting by the edge of the pack house the soft glow of the moon covered her in silver light, making her look completely beautiful, almost like she was a fairy.
She seemed deep in thought, her gaze distant into the trees.
I approached quietly, not wanting to disturb her until I was close enough to kneel beside her. When she noticed me, she smiled softly, her eyes brightening
“Dimitri,” she said, her voice gentle.
“You’re finally resting?”
I chuckled, sitting down beside her.
“For now. But I have something I need to talk to you about.”
Her expression shifted, curiosity and a hint of concern crossing her features.
“What is it?”
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts.
“I’ve been thinking about us,” I began, my voice low and steady.
“About everything we’ve been through. And I realized that I don’t want to wait any longer.”
She tilted her head slightly, .
“What, why ?”she asked her eyes searching mine
“From the moment we met, you have been my strength, my equal, and my mate. We’ve fought together, bled together, and built something beautiful that we can call our own”
” I can’t imagine my life without you by my side.”
I said, reaching out to take her hand.
” I want to marry you, Kate. In the old way. The traditional way. Under the moon, with the packs as our witnesses.”
Her eyes widened, and for a moment, she was silent, as though processing my words.
Dimitri, I-”
“You don’t have to say anything, flowery” I whispered, my voice thick with emotion.
“If you’ll have me, I want to marry you tonight, under the light of the full moon, in front of the entire pack.”
I saw the emotions flickering across her face-surprise, joy, love-and my heart raced, waiting for her response.
A slow smile spread across her lips, and she let out a soft, breathless laugh, tears spilling down her cheeks as she nodded.
“Yes,” she whispered squeezing my hand.
“Dimitri… yes. Of course, I’ll marry you.”
Relief and happiness flooded through me, and I pulled her close, pressing my forehead to hers. T
“This will be perfect, I’ll make it perfect,” I whispered.
“I promise.”
Taking her hand, I drew her in
“There’s something I want to show you.”
She raised an eyebrow,
“What is it?” she asked looking to me
“You’ll see,” I said, pulling her gently along with me as into the house.
I led her to the bathroom and helped her to get undressed, I turned on the water taking the soap, it was a slow but loving process and soon I was done.
We stepped out of the water an into the room, I led her to a separate room where I had laid out clothes so we could start preparing ourselves for the ritual.
The clothes were laid out on the bed traditional clothing that our ancestors wore on special occasions.
” Oh it’s beautiful” she mumbled and I smiled
” I know it will be, ” I mumbled, I kissed her cheek
” I’ll see you on the grounds ” I murmured and she smiled
I walked to my own room and dragged on my clothes they felt strange as I donned them, the deep crimson cloak signified my role as Alpha. Apart from the cloak my chest was bare, adorned only with the ceremonial markings of our pack,
The fabric of the cloak itself was heavy, lined with ancient symbols that represented strength, loyalty, and leadership.
But my thoughts weren’t on the cloak or the ceremony. They were on Kate, and on the bond we were about to solidify, the future we would build together.
When the time came, I stepped out into the clearing, the full moon shining high above us, meat was roasted on spits the scent of it filled the night air.
The pack members stood in a wide circle, their eyes following me as I made my way to the center.
My heart pounded in my chest, but it wasn’t from nerves. It was because of the sense of rightness, that coursed through my veins.
And then, Kate appeared.
She was radiant, her dark hair shone even under the moonlight, she wore a flowing white robe that flowed around her like water. The symbols of the Luna were etched into the fabric, and as she walked toward me, it felt as though the entire world had fallen away.
There was only her, only us.
We met in the center of the clearing, our hands reaching for each other, and the world seemed to hold its breath.
The pack formed a circle around us, as Alpha Denzel stepped forward, as the officiant for the ceremony, his voice deep, speaking the ancient vows that had been passed down through the generations.
“We stand here tonight, under the light of the full moon, to witness the union of two souls bound by fate,” he began, his voice carrying through the clearing.
“Alpha Dimitri and Luna Kate, your bond has been forged in battle, in blood, and in love and tonight, you will solidify that bond, in the Moon Goddess sight ”
We stood before the pack and Moon Goddess, before our people, and pledged ourselves to one another.
“I, Dimitri, Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, pledge my life, my soul, and my heart to you, Kate. You are my mate, my Luna, and mother of my bloodline. I will protect you”
Kate’s eyes shone with tears that threatened to fall as she responded,
“I, Kate, Luna of the Blood Moon Pack, pledge my life, my soul, and my heart to you, Dimitri. You are my mate, my Alpha, and the father of my bloodline. I will protect you” she mumbled
As the words left her lips, I felt it flare between us the connection of a mating bond.
Denzel continued the ceremony, calling upon the Moon Goddess to bless our union.
And as he spoke the final words, Kate and I leaned in, our foreheads touching as we whispered the ancient vows that would bind us together for the rest of our lives.
“I am yours,” I whispered, my voice trembling “Always.”
“And I am yours,” she replied, her voice just as shaky, but filled with love and certainty.
I fell in love with her all over again
The pack erupted into cheers behind us as we sealed our vows with a kiss.
We were one.
