Chapter 27: Need to take up Responsibilities

Book:The Cursed Lycan's Rejected Luna Published:2024-11-1

Kate’s POV
It’s been two weeks now,
Dimitri hasn’t shown up in my room,
Guess he was scolded by his Beta.
I don’t seem to get bothered if he shows up or not,
But Lyka on the other hand, wants to see him so badly,
Even though we are on the same floor, we haven’t cross path,
Sometimes I hear his door to his chamber open and close.
Lyka always want me to go out to check but I’d refuse to yield to her,
Sometimes she would refuse to cooperate with me why I am training.
She had remained silent refusing to speak with me until I apologized for snapping at her, the day Dimitri had worn.
I also had a conversation with her about how we need to be focus, so that I can get to transform by the next Full Moon which is barely two Months away
I’ve been Focus and consistent with my training and Lia having been helpful.
She isn’t only my training guide now,
She is now my friend.
Ruby and Sia too have been helpful, they’ve shown me round the pack.
I get to visit Gareth at the garden too, we’ve became so acquainted now.
They’ve all welcome me into the pack,
I get to miss Madam Elena once in awhile.
Even though, I was angry with her before leaving the pack.
I learnt to know that become the strong Luna I want to become,
Keeping grudges is one thing I should avoid.
I visit the Pack Library, where I get to meet Madam Lucy
She is the Pack’s Librarian and she has lived for over 300 years.
“Why are most of their elders get to live long here, I once wondered”
Madam Elena is the only Elder I have met, who is very old in Twilight Fang pack,
Or is it because I don’t get to move closer to the Elders, hence I don’t get to know their real age, since they all look young, I thought.
Will I also get to live this long,
I am just 25 years now, I still have a long years ahead of me I scuffed,
hence more challenges to face, I have to be ready to face those challenges, I thought.
Since I am a Luna now, I need to know more about the function of a Luna.
I was able to get some information about a role of a Luna,
In Luna Amora’s book,
And I am going to follow in her step.
But I still need more information, I said to myself as I wonder alone in my room,
Sitting by my window watching the birds flying from trees to trees.
I stood up and decided to visit the Library,
I need to know about the pack’s politics, that too is part of the Luna’s role.
The battle at my father’s pack is getting stronger, so I’ve heard from Lia when we had a conversation one day after our training,
Dimitri has also supported by sending in men to fight the rogues who I’ve been terrorising my father’s pack.
I stepped out of my room,
As I was about to close my door, I heard footsteps climbing up the stairs.
I wanted to go back in but I changed my mind,
And waited to see those coming up the stairs.
Then, the d*vil himself climbed up the stairs, followed behind him Louis and one other member of the council.
They were discussing on something.
In Dimitri’s hand is what seem to be a map.
He lifted up his head and I froze as he looked at me with his cold gaze for awhile, then looked back to the map in his hand, then opened the door to his room leaving it open for the others to come in.
Louis and the other man greeted me with a slight bow,
Hello Luna, they both said
Hello, I responded with a smile.
They stepped in and closed the door behind them.
I then move to the stairs and climb down the stairs.
You see, your darlings and almighty Mate sees you and ignored you, I said talking to Lyka as I climb down the stairs.
Can’t you see he is busy, she replied.
Oh I see, he is busy that he can’t even say hello, I retorted.
Why then did the other men greeted me, I added.
They have to, because you are their Luna, and no matter what they are doing they must stop to say hello as a sign of respect, she responded.
So I don’t deserve to be respected by him, I said.
Why don’t you also show some respect and say hello to him, she responded.
Why should I be the one to greet him first, I retorted.
He is the Alpha king, everyone including you must respect him and greet, she responded again.
Why did you keep supporting him, when he doesn’t care about you, i said scornfully.
He is my Mate, she replied.
Does his mate also act the way you do, well I doubt that his wolf does not have feelings, he has been cursed by the Moon goddess, all he knows how to do is hunt down prey, I said.
Don’t say that about our mate, Lyka snapped.
I entered the Pack Library,
Hello madam Lucy, I greeted the Pack’s Librarian.
Hello my Luna, she responded.
How can I help you today Luna, Madam Lucy asked.
I need books on the Pack’s Dynamics and Traditions and I want to learn about my role as the Luna of the pack, I said.
Alright then follow me, she said.
She lead us through the sections of shelves, as I followed closely behind her.
We get to the section where books on pack’s law and order are arranged.
The we started searching through books, on the pack’s dynamics and traditions.
Madam Lucy found one and handed it over to me.
Then search through the shelf again,
She grabbed another one.
After some minute of searching through the shelves, I have four books in my hand.
Two on Pack dynamics and traditions.
Then two on the role of Luna in the pack, both of which have just few pages in them
I strode to where the tables and chairs are and sat down.
I opened one of the books on my role on Luna and started reading.
Are you getting what you need, I heard madam Lucy said.
I was so engrossed, that I didn’t know when she reached my side.
Yes I am, I replied
It been over two hours and I am almost done reading the second book on the role of a Luna.
The two books have a lots of similarities with just a few differences.
So what have you got, she asked as she takes a sit beside me.
Well there are a lot of responsibilities I am to perform as a Luna but I don’t see me achieving most of it, I said.
I guess I would just focus on regaining my strength and transformation ability, I added.
Why did you say that, why did you say that, Madam Lucy asked.
You know as the Luna, I am supposed work hand in hand with the Alpha in decision-making, conflict resolution and putting pack in order, I said.
How do I achieve that, when the Alpha has not even, speak one word to me since I got to the pack, I continued.
He has not even officially announced to his pack members that I am the Luna.
Most pack members didn’t even know there is a Luna in the pack.
And also I read that, I am to guide young and less experienced pack members, I can’t go about parading myself as the Luna when I haven’t been announced yet,
I don’t even know what I am to guide them on.
I went on and on listing everything I have read as my responsibilities,
Madam Lucy kept quiet as she listened to me carefully as I talk about what I have read and how it can’t be achievable.
Are you done, she asked cutting me off.
What-t, I asked.
Are you done, she asked again.
No there are a lots of responsibilities for me to do as a Luna, and I don’t even know how to achieve them.
I was raised as a servant at my servant pack, so I don’t have any skills mastered, I continued.
And did you want to continue being a servant at this pack to, she asked cutting me off once.
Wha-t-t, of course not, I retorted.
So here is what you have to do, she began.
You have to start by building relationships with the pack members first.
Leave the Alpha, relationship with him, isn’t something you can force with him except he is ready to, Madam Lucy said.
Even if he hasn’t announced you as the Luna, he can’t stop you from building relationships with the pack members.
Where did you eat your food, she asked.
In my room, I answered.
From now on, Instruct your maids to serve your food at the general dining, where people in the pack house eat their food.
Once in a while visit the pack clinic and see how the sick ones are recovering.
Visit the little ones gathering, where they are learning.
Focus on all these roles I listed for now while you also gain your strength, she concluded.
Did you understand, she asked.
Yes I do, I answered.
I looked out the window, and it’s getting dark.
We are so engrossed in conversation that we didn’t notice time has flown by.
I’d get going, I said as I stand up from where I was sitting.
Alright, see you some other time.
As I reach the stairs going to the third floor,
I heard Dimitri’s door open,
Oh my goodness, he is coming out.
I froze and stopped.
Why did you stop, Lyka snapped .
Rush up the stairs to see if he is the one, he might be going up to the fourth floor, she added.
I stood still thinking of what to do, whether to go back or just climb the stairs, ignore him if I meet him on the way and go straight to my room.
And I then I heard the door closed back.
I rushed up the stairs,
Opened the door to my room and closed it behind me.
You’re such a fool, Lyka snapped.
But I ignored.
She paced angrily in my head, giving me a slight headache.
But I ignored her…
I dropped the books in my hand on the table.
Make a portion of my Dragon’s Breath herb as usual.
Then took off my clothes, as I was about to step into the shower,
A loud bang took off.
Did an explosion just took off.
I gasped.
