*Lucia*
From the moment I saw Sarah’s text, I knew that there was something beneath it. She wanted more than just to talk. I thought she was over him, or maybe they somehow sorted themselves. Though if they didn’t, it had nothing to do with me.
I had left without telling anyone where I was heading to. I know Sarah was dangerous so I didn’t dare underestimate her or go unprepared. I know better. So I tied three daggers in my joggers and no one could tell what was in there. When I walked towards her, I could see the twist on her lips, as she mocked me for coming unprepared.
God save her; she doesn’t try any nonsense. She must think I’m still some weak girl who would not be able to hurt a hair on her head. Or maybe it was better to have her think that way. I didn’t waste time with her as it seemed she had nothing meaningful to say. I was a bit disappointed, thinking she had begun using her head. But she proved to be as dumb as she has always been.
I turned and started walking.
I didn’t want to waste another moment with her. She isn’t worth it. I had barely taken two steps when I heard something ruffled through the air. I quickly sucked to the side. I knew she would try something stupid, but to throw a dagger at me? Well, she truly was the worst. And since she has started it, I wasn’t going to let it go.
Never.
My eyes darkened as I stared at her. She smirks. “You seem to have improved. Well, my hands slipped.” She said, that small annoying smile never left her lips, as if she was daring me, and asking me what I could do. “Well I don’t believe in mistakes,” I said, crossing the line between us. Before she could wrap her head around what was happening, I landed a blow at her which sent her flying to the side.
I shook my hands and massaged it as if I was the one hurt. “Are you alright? It seems the breeze keeps moving our hands for us. How could mine slip to.” She stood up, holding her face. “You bitch,” she said and charged towards me. She pointed a dagger forward. If it was before, I may have begun running at this point. I ran, but in another direction.
I charged towards her.
She landed a blow forward, but I was quick to duck it. A little too quick for her. “I’ll fucking kill you,” she said. She raised her hands, and a blow fell on my face; she grabbed me by my collar, rumpling and raising my shirt upwards. She raised her hands and punched me, but I caught hold of the punch before it got to my face, “let’s see who kills the other first,” I said.
I twisted her hands, and her eyes widened in pain. The other hands let go of my shirt to punch my face, but I slid to the side and picked her gut. She staggered back.
I didn’t allow her to recover before I kicked her. She fell to the ground. “You look better as a rug on the floor,” I said as one side of my lips tugged up. Her eyes burned with hatred.
I put a leg on her chest, “did you stupidly think you’d get your way this time?” I asked her, “what? You’re surprised I can defend myself?” I pressed harder. Her hands were quick to wrap around my legs. “I’ll kill you, slut. Conniving bastard. Ho…w the hell did you seduce Bruno? Did you throw off your clothes in front of him?”
She was trying to make me angry, but that wouldn’t be possible today.
“Why? Do you want tips on how to seduce Jason? I told you before that all you have to do is get that ugly face of yours under the needle. Something you do by getting naked and warming a man’s bed, a beautiful face can do with a smile,” I said.
She winced from pain.
“You must think you’ve won, right?” She asked. Despite the pain she was in, her lips stressed into a smile. She was plotting something, but what could she possibly do?
“Well, I…” Before I could finish my statement, I felt a sharp cut on my leg that was on her. I held back my urge to scream from the pain. It was a deep cut, but not deep enough to disable me from walking. Blood rushed out from my legs; the pain rang in my head.
I kicked her with my other leg, but she wasn’t on the floor anymore, so I ended up tripping myself. I fell to the ground, and the throbbing pain in my legs worsened. I had to act. I had to do something fast. When I raised my head, Sarah was in front of me with a gun. My dagger, which had fallen by the side, was kicked to a far end.
“Thank you for the tips; I’ll keep them in mind,” she said, her smile widening.
I needed to buy time. I needed to think of something. I can’t just sit there without doing anything. That would be the worst. She may pull the trigger. All I had to do was to make her lose the gun.
She continued, but I could barely hear what she was saying. My head was filled with getting the gun off her hold. “Say your last words, Lucia,” my hands were already on my dagger. All I needed was to distract her and fling it in her hands, “my last words,” I whispered but loud enough for her to hear.
The evening breeze blew gently as she nodded. My eyes quickly moved around. The next building had a billboard. “My last words are surprisingly written on that billboard,” I said, and she turned. Swiftly, I threw my dagger at her hand.
A sharp cut on her wrist sent the gun away from her hold. Ignoring the pain from my legs, I walked to where the gun was and kicked it away. I was left with one dagger. “You bitch, you are still going to die anyway.” She said.
She pulled out another dagger from God knows where and aimed at me. Her hands dripped from blood. My last dagger was already in my hands. I twisted my body, avoiding her dagger, but I wasn’t lucky enough. She gave me another cut on the side of my stomach.
Blood gushed out.
She was about to plunge the dagger into my heart, but I ducked. Successfully this time. And I slammed my dagger into her stomach. We both fell on the ground afterwards. But she refused to give up. The next thing I felt was a heavy metal on my head.
The world blurred and twisted.
Then footsteps.
And voices.
Awfully familiar but low voices. I couldn’t hear what the voice screamed.
And then, darkness.

*Bruno POV*
I didn’t know what Jason heard, but he was right behind me. Running the same way I was. None of us cared about blowing off the other’s head. I had a feeling that we were off for the same reason, but I quickly shoved that into the back of my mind. There was no way he’d know about Lucia and the current fight she was in. Maybe something else came up for him, too.
Except…
Except he had someone watching her. Someone trailing her. I shook my head as I opened my car and stepped towards him. I’ll kill him if I find out my suspicions are correct.
And to that stupid girl that was in a fight with Lucia. Maybe I should have blown her in the car the last time. It wasn’t like I didn’t trust Lucia or think she may not be able to handle this herself. She has been trained personally by Rave and has gone on a few missions where she has shown that her lessons weren’t wasted. Sarah should be no big deal for her, but I didn’t trust Sarah.
Lucia may not play dirty, but Sarah, the same couldn’t be said about her.
I had asked my men to stay back and only to interfered when it went out of hand. I gritted my teeth as I horned loudly at a car that suddenly revered, swearing at him. I drove as fast as I could to the location.
The top of a building.
If Sarah was fortunate enough to be alive by the time I arrived, she better prepare herself because I would be pushing her off the building myself.
I pulled up in front of the building, to see Jason pull up. This lunatic, he indeed has been trailing Lucia. Well, I’ll worry about that later, but for now, Lucia needed me.
By the time I got there, I saw Sarah hitting Lucia on her head. Blood dripped from her stomach. She looked weak. It had been a tough fight. Before she could hit her again, I pushed her to the side roughly. She fell with a thud.
“Lucia, wake up.” I picked her up from the floor. Jason’s eyes were wide. He least expected this, too. He tried to walk towards me, but one glare sent him away. I brushed his shoulders as I walked off with Lucia.
Hoping and praying that she would be fine.

*Jason POV*
I felt a thing in my heart as I watched Bruno carrying Lucia out in a bridal style. I wanted to be the one holding her in my arms, but I knew it would be better to watch from the side.
I looked to the side to find Sarah struggling. I gritted my teeth. I wanted to walk away. She was the cause of this mess. I learned from one of her men that she had invited Lucia out for a civil discussion, and given the way Lucia was dressed, she least expected a fight.
I turned back to leave but stopped when I heard her whisper my name, “Jason, please.” She said I closed my eyes, “help me,” she said. I inhaled sharply. I could just walk away. I had good reasons to do so.
But she had been my friend once. She needed help. She needs to get treated, or she may not survive.
I walked to her.
I heard footsteps behind me. I turned to see Steve rushing towards us. His eyes were hollow. He was panting heavily as if he had run to the top of the building.
“Call an ambulance. Immediately,” I yelled at him. Quickly, he brought out his phone and began fumbling with it.
“You’d be fine. Just breathe,” I said to her. She shakes her head weakly. For the first time, I felt a tug on my heart. I felt guilty towards her. Whatever she did here today, she did it because of me, though that didn’t sound justificable no matter how much I thought of it, but it was the truth.
“Jason,” her voice shook. She held out her hands. They were blood-stained. It shook as she extended them towards me. I placed her head on my lap. “You will be alright. Save whatever you want to say, save it for later. I’ll always be here, and we’ll talk.” Tears rolled down from my eyes.
She shook her head again. More slowly this time.
“The ambulance might take a while because of traffic. Let’s take her to the car.” Steve said.
“No. Come closer.” She has lost a lot of blood. “I love you, Jason. I… I always have and always wi…ll. Even after death,” she said.
“Don’t say that. No one’s dying,” she shifted her gaze to Steve.
“Make sure to avenge me.” She said.
That last push from Bruno was the cause. I refused to believe that the stab was all there was.
She raised her hands to touch my face. Steve covered his mouth, now sitting beside us on the floor. “I… love… y,” Her hands dropped before it could reach my face. Her weight on me doubled. I slowly realized that Steve and I were the only ones breathing.
Sarah was gone.
