*Sarah*
I didn’t expect Lucia to take the bait. She had agreed to meet up with me. As I walked to the bathroom to take my bath, I couldn’t help but wonder how delighted she would be to see the surprise I had kept for her. She hadn’t immediately agreed to come see me after the first message, but I had been persistent. Sending text after text each day just to make sure she would come to see me, and at last, she agreed
I wasted no time in sending her the location, and she had no questions.
I walked out of the bathroom naked. I had changed the way I arranged my room after Jason left. My eyes sweep past the curtains which had been hurled to a side. The day was still bright and the sky was clear. I chose black trousers, a blue top and a black jacket. There was no time to waste. I packed my hair into a ponytail before wrapping it around and pinned it with two hair clips.
I walked to a drawer and opened it to reveal several guns. My hands moved swiftly to the other mahogany drawer on the other side and I opened it to reveal daggers of different sizes and shapes. I had done my fair share of research on Lucia. She had been training hard and could put up a fight. However, I didn’t think that was something to worry about.
I picked three daggers, hiding two in my boots and one in my trousers. I also picked two guns but changed my mind and kept one. One should be enough. It was just Lucia. An unarmed Lucia who believes I only wanted to have a friendly discussion and settle everything with her.
A small chuckle escaped my lungs at the thought that she had truly believed me. I guess stupidity wasn’t something one could outgrow. After what she and her stupid boyfriend did to Jason. She was stupid enough to think I only wanted to have a civil conversation with her. She was coming unarmed and alone. After my research on Bruno, I found out he was way out of my league, not the type I could go against, so why waste my time when I could return the favor to Lucia?
I don’t care what Jason will say; he definitely wouldn’t be pleased, but I would still do what I have to do regardless. Someday, he would come to understand that all I had done was for his good. And as for Bruno, there was no way he would find out I did it, and even if he did and blew my car again, Lucia would have already been gone, and nothing would bring her back.
A small smile crept onto my lips as I thought about how I was going to kill Lucia. I shut the two drawers. Walking to the mirror to take a last look at my reflection. I nod in satisfaction. I loved what I saw.
I stepped out of my room, locking my door behind me. I couldn’t help but think about how Lucia was able to seduce Bruno. He was the one who bought her, and from my research, he was a ruthless and the most feared mafia Don. He was respected, and few could stand against him.
He had never been in a relationship with anyone. He was so far from Lucia. They were not similar in any aspect, so how on earth did Lucia seduce him? That was still a surprise to me. Jason stood no chance against Bruno though he had not accepted that and I learnt that he had gone to see Lucia again one night and had ended up getting into a fight with Bruno who had shown him no mercy.
I took a deep breath as I stepped out of the hallway and started going down the stairs. I was going to put an end to everything. Once Lucia was gone, everything would go back to normal. It may take away, but things would certainly return to normal.
I walked out of the stairs, walking towards the dining room. I opened the fridge at the side of the four chairs, which were placed around a round table with a flower vase in the middle. I opened a bottle of water and downed the entire contents. I closed it and walked out. My car has been brought to the entrance on my order. The two men at the entrance, who had been relaxed and chatting before I walked out, straightened at the sight of me. They bowed as I walked past them, heading towards the door.
I entered the car and closed the door. I was about to ignite my car when my phone rang. My face softened when I saw the caller, “Hey girl, what have you been up to? I’ve been expecting you,” Elaina’s voice rang out. It has been a long time since I last saw her. I have been so busy trying to get Lucia out and trying to keep Jason safe.
I massaged the side of my head, thinking of the best excuse to say, “I’ve had so much to do; sorry I’ve not been able to keep you company,” I said, though I wasn’t sorry. “How about a drink tonight?” I asked. I would have lots of reasons to drink tonight. It would be a drink to celebrate Lucia’s death. I wasn’t going to mention my plan to Eliana; otherwise, she would go on and on about why I should give Jason up and let Lucia be. But the selfish part of me would never listen.
However, I tried to convince myself that I was only going to return the favor. That I was only going to make Jason leave the country and go back to his normal life, and that Jason may never want to have anything to do with me. And he may hate me more than he already did. Another part of me wanted him. I wanted him to finally see that I was the only one who would be able to do anything for him. He may take his time, but I was sure he would come around, and I was ready to wait till whenever.
“Hello, Sarah, are you still there?” Elina asked and I jolted out of my reverie. “Sorry, what did you say?” I asked.
“I won’t be able to join you for a drink later today. Remember the invitation I signed up for, the one I told you about” She asked. I could barely remember anything she told me. But I couldn’t say that.
“What about it?” I asked.
“I have been invited; I would be leaving the country in two hours,” she said.
“And you only thought to tell me now?” I asked. “I couldn’t reach you,” she said.
We spoke about other things before she finally bid me goodbye and ended the call. I would miss her. But it was also good she was out of the country. We may not get to speak for a long time and I hope she will be fine.
I finally drove off.
It took me an hour to get to the arranged destination. Lucia was nowhere in sight when I got there. Well, she had promised to come so I’d wait. The sky was dotted with fluffy clouds over the sun which was setting. I inhaled a sharp breath. I was standing on the rooftop, the view was crazily beautiful and I could only bask in its beauty, but it would soon be soiled. Soiled by Lucia’s blood.
And just as I thought of her, I heard light footsteps behind me. These footsteps that I instantly remembered and recognized to be that of a girl who once considered me her bestie.
Fool.
I whispered under my breath when I turned. She had come alone and was wearing joggers and a black top, which accentuated her breasts perfectly. I was a bit envious of how big her boobs were without any surgery. But what would be the use after she is no longer on the earth?
“Make it quick, Sarah; I don’t have all the time in the world,” she said. Her hair was styled beautifully, and I was even able to admit for the first time that she was beautiful. Everything about her screamed beauty.
“You look rather beautiful for a discussion with me,” I said as she walked forward, gracefully. She placed two hands on the pavement that separated us from falling. I wanted to step close and push her off. But that wasn’t the plan.
I wanted to have a chat with her. I’ll let her enjoy the gaze and would kill her in the cruelest way possible. “The view here is beautiful,” she said, taking everything in with one glance. My eyes were pinned on her watching her every movement. She turned slowly, “The only thing that looks odd here is you,” I froze for a second. She wasn’t smiling and had removed her hands from the pavement, she stood straight.
“Why are you dressed like you are on a mission to assassinate someone? One could easily misunderstand, except,” she paused and squinted her eyes. Then she continued, “You are here to do so,” she was too smart for her own good. I opened my mouth to speak, but she beat me to it, “What did you want to say to me? I have a very handsome man waiting for me and wouldn’t want to keep him waiting, you know what I mean, or no, you don’t, you don’t even have a boyfriend and couldn’t even snatch one,” her voice was filled with mockery. I clenched my fist at the side.
“You sure have gotten better,” was the only thing I could think to say and I couldn’t hide the hatred in my voice which she was quick to pick up.
“Of course, change is constant. Now get to the point, or I’ll leave,” she was so proud and full of herself. I couldn’t wait to have her on her knees begging for mercy. I would surely take my time and would do it well this time.
The day got darker. The sun was now almost out and covered by dark clouds.
“You know why I called you here, what did you do to Jason, why can’t he let you go?” I asked her.
“That question should be directed to Jason himself. Tsk tak, I see you are still no better, still as dorm as I remember,” she said.
“You sure lack respect for me,” I said through gritted teeth.
“Respect? That should be the least you expect from me. We aren’t friends, and I don’t think you’ve forgotten about what you did to me the last time we met, you bloodily liar,” her eyes were red from anger which threatened to burst from her.
“Figured you must have found out, but you were such a fool to have doubted Jason’s love for you. If only you had died that day.” I didn’t regret what I did, what I regretted was not getting it done properly.” I said. Her face was straight, eyes hollow devoid of any emotions until she smiled.
“Jason will forever hate you for what you did. You separated us. You are the reason he is where he is, and he feels what he feels. And I think I should be grateful to you. You gave me a better man. You can keep Jason to yourself. It would be better if he stopped showing up everywhere I go.” She turned. She wanted to walk away but stopped.
“And maybe you should do something about your face, you know, a surgery or something. With that face of yours, you may never be able to get any man less alone, Jason, and makeup doesn’t always help,” I blooded with anger; how dare she say that?
“Well, we seem to have nothing to say to each other,” she started walking away. My gloved hand reached to the dagger closest to me, and without much thought, I flung it at her, aiming for her head.
