*Sarah*
I didn’t want to believe that Jason had found out. I wanted to pretend that he hadn’t just walked out on me a while ago.
Jason had been with me for a while. And though what I wanted from him was more than just living in the same house, I was content. It felt surreal to see the man I loved each morning I woke up. I could have breakfast with him. And then drink with him. Jason didn’t have a specific time he drank and could get wasted in the middle of the day.
It may not mean too much to him, but these things meant a lot to me, and I kept hoping and praying that he would never meet Lucia. I had my men searching for her. I wanted to find her first so I could get rid of her.
But that was all an illusion.
Like always, Jason was a step ahead of me. And the little bitch had shown herself in front of him. I knew she wasted no time in blabbering to him. She must have told him everything I did to her in a single line. I knew the bitch hated me, but I couldn’t be more glad. It made the killing easier.
What I never wanted was for Jason to deny all the things I had told her. I knew what I told her broke her, and it brought me so much joy that I almost couldn’t contain myself.
I had planned to seduce Jason today and make him mine. It was a smooth plan. Get him drunk and lead him to the room alone. I had held back all these while because I didn’t know how he would feel, but I didn’t want to watch him swoon over a woman whose location was unknown. I could no longer let him slip away from my fingers and had to take action.
But I was too late.
He was already aware, and everything was suddenly fucked up.
I pulled my hair in frustration.
No.
I won’t let him go just like that. I picked up my phone, fumbling over it till I was able to settle myself and dialed his number. I would call him and apologize and then we’ll go back to how things were before.

*Jason POV*
After leaving Sarah’s house, I drove directly into a hotel. I wanted some time away from Sarah. No, not just some time. We were done. She was officially not a friend of mine anymore, and just as I had promised, I would make her pay dearly If I don’t get Lucia back.
I walked to the room Micheal, one of the men I had come with, had reserved for me. I walked past a woman with a man, who I guess was her husband, trailing behind her. I quickly looked at my card and stopped in front of a door.
I opened the suite and stepped in. I had no luggage or anything with me. I had left all my things in Sarah’s house in a fit of anger earlier. I made a mental note to call Michael and ask him to get my stuff.
The suite was a little up to milt taste. The walls were painted white. The chairs and everything I laid my eyes on were also white. Well, I had a little problem with the color. I wasn’t a fan of white. But I was going to let this slide. At least for now. I had better things to worry about.
My mind was filled with thoughts of Lucia. She looked as beautiful as she had always looked. Images of her filled my head. Honestly, I didn’t want those images to leave. But I wanted to be with her physically more than I wanted to be with her in my head.
I laid down on the bed. Not bothering to move the duvet away.
I wondered what she was doing right now. Does her heart not beat for me again? All these while, I thought of her. I have imagined our reunion a million times, but none was like how it was.
Lucia had been the reason for being alive. She was the reason I had the strength to fight off my uncle. “Lucia,” her name flowed naturally out of my mouth. I wished she would answer. I wish she were here with me.
I closed my eyes, and tears slipped out of it.
What did she mean by saying she had moved on?
I don’t care if she has found someone new; she was still mine and mine alone. The thought of her with someone else made my heart sink, and I clutched my fingers.
No.
I sat up. I wasn’t just going to sit here and watch her slip out of my hands. Lucia has always been mine from the start and mine alone.
My phone rang. I reached for it, plunging one hand into my pocket and bringing the screen which had a name I didn’t want to see in front of me.
Sarah.
Why was she calling me? I ended the call without thinking twice. She was the last person I wanted to speak to right now. My phone rings again. I groaned out of frustration. Why can’t she just let me be? I ended the call once again. The last thing I wanted was to speak to her. But she doesn’t seem to understand or give up, so this time, I picked it up.
“What do you want?” I asked her.
My voice was laced with anger I didn’t bother to hide. “I’m sorry Jason. I’m sorry,” oh she finally realized that she was wrong. “Where are you? I can explain everything in detail, I swear. I didn’t want to hurt her. All I wanted was to get you,” she was still on that?
“Where are you? Which hotel are you in? I will come to you right away. Please say something.” She said; I could tell that she was on the verge of crying. But that was the last thing I cared about right now.
“Don’t try to reach me again, Sarah,” I warned.
“No. I can’t. I can’t live without you. If you want Lucia, I’ll go meet her. I’ll beg her to come back to you. I’ll kneel if I have to. Just don’t drive me away from your life. Please don’t leave me. Please,” she pleaded.
“That wasn’t a request!” I stated emphasizing the meaning of what I just said in case she didn’t understand. I wasted no time in ending the call.
I flung my phone up the side.
Although the air-conditioner was switched on, I began to feel hot. I took off my jacket and left a few buttons undone in my shirt. I took in deep breaths. No matter what I tried, I still felt hot inside.
It was clear.
I would never be able to leave without Lucia. I needed her just as I needed air. I didn’t want to waste another minute. I called Micheal immediately. He was sitting across from me and came into the suite in the next thirty minutes. “Where is the information I asked for?” He handed me a file. “That contains all the places she has been and the people she has met,” Micheal replied.
I nodded.
I flipped across the page. I squinted my eyes when I saw the picture of the guy who had bought her. “I need more information on him,” I said.
“I tried to get more information on him but couldn’t. This was all I could find,” I didn’t quite like what I heard. Who was this mysterious man who bought Lucia? He was the person she had been with most of the time.
“How about the club she always frequented?” I asked. There was also not much information about the club either. “Just like the man, there is nothing else about the club.” I squinted my eyes.
This only intensifies my anger. I would have questioned Micheal or blamed him for not doing his job properly, but Micheal was a very meticulous guy, and if he said there was no more information, that was exactly all there was to it.
“Where is Lucia right now? You had someone watching her, right?”
“Yes. She has been tailed since she left the lake.” I stood up abruptly. “Text me her location,” I said, walking out with Micheal behind me.
I would not be able to sleep without seeing her.
The hallway was a bit cold. I walked past a few people but I could barely take note of anything about them, not even what they were wearing or how they looked. I was too focused on seeing Lucia than telling them apart. I increased my pace, wanting to get to my car, which had been parked in the underground parking lot.
Micheal had her location sent to me two minutes later. He was as Prudence as always. I was sitting behind the steering wheel, my hands on it. The wristwatch in my hands dangled from side to side as I moved my hands from my hair back to the steering wheel and back to my hair.
I sped past other cars on the highway.
Lucia was not in the club nor at the penthouse she stayed in. She was in a strange place. This was the best time to see her. My phone rang, and Michael’s name popped up on the screen. I moved my hands and took the call immediately.
“Sir, the target has moved location,” his voice rang out of the earbuds in my ears. I arched my brows and my hands tightened on the steering wheel as he continued speaking. “James is tailing her, but we are yet to get a location from her,” he said.
“Keep your eyes on her. Text me where she is and if she leaves, text me again,” I order. The line beeped. A trailer blared His horn as it sped past me. I slowed down a little allowing the cars which were following it a bit too close to drive past before I continued on my way.
It didn’t take long before my phone beeped. My car came to a stop when the light turned red and I seized the opportunity to take a quick peek at my phone.
Lucia had changed her location again.
My phone beeped yet again, and a message popped out on the screen. Lucia had moved, but this time, she had settled in a bar. I felt a wave of energy rush through me. A bar, this only meant one thing: she wasn’t alone. I was tempted to send a message to Micheal, asking him who she was with.
I didn’t have the opportunity before the car moved. I stepped on the accelerator, moving my car before the cars behind me started balding their horn. It took ten more minutes before I got to where Lucia was. I opened the door and stepped out of the car. I closed it and took heavy steps towards the entrance.
The bar was crowded. Three to four people sat around a semicircle. Everyone was talking at the same time making it hard to make sense of what was being said. I moved my eyes from one table to another in search of Lucia. The message said she was here.
My eyes finally found her.
A sigh of relief escaped me. She wasn’t alone. I started walking forward wanting to take a seat behind her. No matter what Sarah had said, I still believe that we could mend things and we could go back to the way we once were. She had her back facing me so she couldn’t see me and so did the man beside her.
Wait.
Something doesn’t feel right, man.
My legs halted, and before I could wrap my head around Lucia being with a strange man, the man moved forward and covered her lips with his. My whole body tensed.
