JADE
Pain. That was the only thing that rang in my head the moment we got back home.
I do not know how I was even able to fall asleep in the car.
Probably the fear and shock on the fact that I could have been raped and killed today was way too much on my body so I found solace in just falling asleep and trying to forget it all.
But the moment I woke up, the pain shattered through my skull. From my head to my arms, to my body, my legs, everything screamed of pain.
Especially because of the way those men gripped me, punched and slapped me.
They themselves confessed that somebody sent them to kill me. Somebody wants me dead and someone also shot my husband too.
There has to be a reason for this. It is not just some mere coincidence. Someone out there actaully wants I and Luciano dead.
But why? And who?
Terrified by the memory and threat to our lives, my eyes suddenly roved around wondering where I was and to make sure that I was in a safe place.
I was in Luciano’s private bed chamber. The room was awfully dark and I could barely even see through the darkness.
Atleast I was safe in here.
My throat burned and felt so sore from all the yelling and crying. Plus I was fucking thirsty. My eyes landed on a bottle of water on a little wooden table close to the bed.
I painstakingly stood up, groaning on the inside on the multiple bruises that were littered across my skin.
Quickly, I reached for the bottle water and sculled it down not minding the pain which was tearing me from the inside.
Luciano came to my mind as I stood up. How was he able to find and track me to the exact place where I was held? Isn’t that strange?
And I was expecting to see him come with the police or something but the armed men who he was with were not part of cops. They were his own men and he had them shoot people.
Not like I do not appreciate the fact that he rescued me but what he did was murder in the sight of the law and he could be punished.
Where was he anyways? So many questions ran through my mind at this moment and I badly needed answers.
“I can see you are awake”
I almost jumped out of my skin and the sound of the masculine voice. I turned around in an instant.
Blending into the eerie darkness of the room was Luciano who stood some meters away with his hands behind his back.
“Lucaino?” I called out in fright, just to make sure he was the one and I was not hallucinating.
Taking predatorial steps, Lucaino stepped out of the darkness and I breathed a sigh of relief. Was he really there all these while? Watching me?
“Have you been there all these while?” I asked him, my eyes taking in his countenance.
He had this aura of danger and bloody anger all over him. Even just staring at his face filled me with goosebumps.
“Luciano are you alright?” I was moved to ask irrespective of the fact that the more I spoke, the more my throat hurt.
“I should be asking you. Why did you leave the house without my men around you?” Luciano stepped further, his voice gravel and his face having such a stern look on them.
“I- did not-t feel it would be uh-uh n-necessary to go about w-with them” my voice cracked as I replied.
Luciano was angry. I could see it and I could feel it.
“And you almost got raped Jade” his voice was dangerously calm. “When I give orders…” Luciano slowly pressed his body on mine, his hands slowly coming to settle on the back of my neck, pulsing warmth on my skin.
“I expect you to obey them because it is for your own good. Everything I do is for your own good Jade. Sometimes I do not understand why you do not see that” Luciano completed, trying so hard not to flare up.
“Stop hiding things from me Luciano” I said out of the blue, concern and fear flashing in my eyes.
Luciano stared at me, not saying any thing as if he was waiting for me to finish speaking.
Getting the cue, I continued, “Luciano you… got shot a week ago and today, someone sent men to rape and.. and kill me. It is not a coincidence. Our lives are in danger–”
“You think I do not know that” Luciano cut me short, frustration in his tone. “Of course I know we are not safe Jade. And I try my best to protect you but I can not if you do not follow my instructions regarding your movememts”
“My question is w-why? What did we do that someone o-out there wants to kill us? What d-did you do Luciano?”
Luciano’s tensed features gradually relaxed at my last statement and he seemed rather amused than angry.
“You think I did something that would warrant this?” He almost chuckled.
I nodded, tired of speaking.
“Jade..” Luciano began, pressing his forehead on mine. “I have been trying my best to keep you away from the dangers in my life and I will not stop trying because you are my innocence wife. You do not need to be thrown into my precarious and dangerous personal life”
“B-but I-I n-need to know pl-please” I pleadingly whispered, my throat itching once more.
“In due time” Luciano simply stated.
I stepped back from his hold and pivoted, spotting a vertical standing mirror in his room.
I slowly trudged towards it and accessed my appearance. My skin and face were covered with bruises that had dried blood stains smeared on them. My lips were swollen and my hairs were disheveled.
I had an awful huge red mark on one side of my eye which I am guessing I got when one of those men punched me in the face.
Luciano came to stand behind me and placed his hands on my tensed shoulders.
“I promise, whoever sent those men to you will be killed Jade” Luciano raspily whispered in my ear giving me frightful shivers.
“L-uciano I-I have a-lot of questions” tears trickled down my cheeks and I turned to face him.
“You are safe now ok. That is all that matters” Luciano calmly said before leading me back to the bed.
“Rest now ok. I will have the maids prepare you a hot bathe and some food. I will call the doctor to check up on you moglie” Luciano assured me as he laid by my side on the bed.
“You are safe moglie. I will never let you out of my sight this time. I promise”
