Usher closed his eyes. Pain and agony pulsed through his entire body. He groaned and then returned to his human form.
“You really are pathetic, Usher.”
It was Mireya’s voice. Usher opened his eyes to see Mireya standing nearby, holding Phillip.
Mireya smiled. “I didn’t think an Alpha of the Frostholm Pack could be defeated. I thought you were an unbeatable Alpha, as people used to say. But it turned out that your greatness was nothing but empty talk.”
“You really are despicable, Mireya,” Usher gasped. He tried to get to his feet but couldn’t. “I promise you; I will avenge everything you’ve done to the Frostholm Pack. I will kill you with my own hands.”
Mireya burst into laughter. She laughed heartily, taking Usher’s words as nothing more than a joke. “Oh, Usher. You’re so good at jokes,” Mireya said in the middle of her laughter. “Can’t you see reality now? What do you want to take revenge with? You no longer have a Beta and a Gamma. Even now you’ve lost the warriors and guards. So, what will you use to seek revenge?”
Usher’s heart was pierced by the sad reality. He closed his mouth with tightly clenched fists.
“Enough, Usher. It’s all over. Accept your fate. Accept the fact that there’s no more Frostholm Pack on this earth.” Mireya continued to speak, smiling meaningfully. She looked at Usher with a mocking look. “Now is the time for the Nimbria Pack to become a respected pack among all werewolves.”
Mireya’s words ignited Usher’s anger. He forced himself to stand up. His intention was to hit Mireya. His fists were clenched, ready to strike. But someone caught his fist before he could touch Mireya.
Usher turned. “You.”
“Hello, Usher,” Torin replied and threw a punch at Usher. Usher stumbled and fell to the ground. “Long time no see, and it seems this is not a pleasant meeting for you.”
The grumbling shook Usher’s chest, fueling the fire of his anger like oil. “You two are truly despicable,” he hissed, his breath ragged. He glared at Torin and Mireya with resentful eyes. “One day you will be held accountable for your actions against the Frostholm Pack.”
Torin chuckled. “Hasn’t Mireya already told you, Usher? There is no Frostholm Pack left on this earth. Frostholm will be wiped out tonight. Nimbria will kill every last member of Frostholm until there are none left. Do you understand? Tonight is the last night that the name Frostholm will be spoken. Tomorrow and after, no one will know Frostholm.”
It wasn’t just a threat. Usher realized the truth of those words, albeit reluctantly. That’s why the remaining Frostholm wolves were dwindling. They fell one by one until there were none left. Only he remained.
Torin’s laughter stopped. He surveyed the surroundings, filled with the corpses of wolves and the smell of blood permeating the air.
Torin raised his head. His eyes closed and his arms spread wide. He took a deep breath, savoring the smell of death mixed with blood. Then a proud smile spread across his face.
“Finally, the night has come. The night I’ve waited for so long,” Torin declared loudly. The voices of the Nimbria wolves echoed in response. “The Nimbria Pack has defeated the Frostholm Pack. Now the power over this territory is all ours, it belongs to the Nimbria Pack!”
The howling of the Nimbria wolves grew more enthusiastic. The night, which should have been quiet, became alive with their joyous cheers. They celebrated the lost lives without any sense of mercy.
Usher’s fingers dug into the ground. Then he clenched his fists. He realized that his body was extremely weak, but he couldn’t stay still as Torin humiliated the Frostholm Pack. In his heart he kept saying. No, the Frostholm Pack will never perish.
Usher rose with what little strength he had left. He could no longer transform into a wolf because he was badly injured. So, he attacked Torin in his human form.
Usher’s blow made Torin stagger. The howling of the Nimbria wolves stopped. However, Torin quickly signaled before they attacked Usher.
Torin grinned. “I will gladly finish you off for the last time, Usher.”
Usher roared furiously. He ran with clenched fists, but Torin quickly dodged his blows. As a result, he stumbled and Torin didn’t waste the opportunity.
Torin’s kick landed hard on Usher’s stomach, followed by a barrage of punches. Usher didn’t even have a chance to catch his breath.
Usher groaned loudly as his body tumbled and landed on the corpses of the Frostholm wolves. He tried to get up, but the pool of blood only made him slip. So, he fell again.
“Still want to try your luck, Usher?” Torin asked casually as he approached. He snarled once with a mocking expression. “Or vice versa? Shall I kill you now?”
Usher’s mouth opened, but instead of words, blood gushed out, a sign that his body had been severely injured. Now he was truly helpless. Not only unable to get up, he couldn’t even speak anymore.
At that moment, Mireya approached again. Phillip was still in her arms and she seemed to be excited to see blood everywhere.
“The night will be over soon, Torin. The morning will come. It seems like the right time to end all our fights,” Mireya said, looking at Torin meaningfully. “What do you think?”
Torin returned Mireya’s look. “I leave it up to you, Mireya. Do what you want.”
Mireya nodded to Torin before approaching Usher, who was gasping for breath. Usher’s breathing became labored and his concentration began to fade. It wasn’t hard for her to guess that Usher would die soon, even without her intervention.
While still holding Phillip, Mireya crouched down next to Usher. Then she said, “You know, Usher? Lately Phillip likes to bite. I thought Phillip was happy because his front teeth had grown.”
Mireya paused for a moment, looking at the happy Phillip. She tried to make a joke with Phillip and he laughed.
“Well, how about feeling Phillip’s bite, Usher?” Mireya asked with an even brighter smile. She reached out and wiped the blood and dust from Usher’s neck. “You’ll love it.”
With her words finished, Mireya steered Phillip to Usher’s neck. Phillip’s mouth opened and he enthusiastically bit into Usher’s neck. Phillip clenched both hands, his eyes narrowed, looking eager, and then Mireya pulled Phillip away at the right moment-when Usher’s blood vessels burst and his blood spurted!
