After the man and Ayla left, the battle became uneven. Berg, Cora, and the pack were pushed back. The reason was that so many unfamiliar wolves suddenly appeared and attacked them.
Berg jumped back. He assessed the situation of the fight and felt confused by the presence of the unknown wolves, pressured by the urgency of the situation. He could not let the pack fall victim to this unequal fight.
Similar thoughts crossed Cora’s mind. They exchanged glances and finally Cora let out a long howl. As the third leader of the pack, she made a decision. She ordered the pack to withdraw from the battle. She also ordered Berg and his team to form a tight barricade. Her priority now was to save the pack.
When Mireya heard Cora’s howl, she jumped into action. She left Usher behind as he lay unconscious on the ground. She shouted angrily, “Capture all the rebels! Capture Berg and Cora for daring to defy the Alpha’s orders! Capture them all!”
Cora, Berg, and the guards fought desperately against Mireya’s wolves. But as time passed, her barricade was pushed back further and further. The situation became more and more unfavorable for them.
A thunderous howl echoed in the midst of the battle. Cora and Berg both turned to the source of the sound. They saw Storm approaching with the warriors.
Storm jumped, followed by the warriors. They immediately advanced and bravely attacked Mireya’s wolves. They sent them flying in all directions in a pitiful state.
Now the tables were turned. Mireya’s wolves were pushed back, and Storm and the warriors quickly took control of the battle. They continued to push forward, allowing Cora and Berg to escape with the injured wolves.
Storm and the warriors made sure they all escaped safely. Then he ordered the warriors to leave as well. Only when the situation was completely under control did he leave.
“Damn it!” Mireya cursed as she banged on the table until it shattered. She continued to rage, destroying objects around her. “You’re all useless!”
Mireya continued to rage, unleashing her fury on the werewolves she deemed incompetent. She slapped each one of them, furious that they could not kill Cora and Berg even though they had dominated the battle. Anger boiled in her blood. Her eyes blazed with fury and uncontrollable disappointment. She felt every fiber of her being tremble with emotion. Her face turned crimson and her body shook violently.
Mireya’s plan had not gone as planned. Not only did this day not become one of her best days, but worst of all, she missed the golden opportunity to eliminate Ayla, Cora, and Berg. After that, she believed the road ahead would not be easy. The pack would anticipate her every move and it was not impossible for Ayla, Cora, Berg, and Storm to gather their strength and counterattack her.
Mireya closed her eyes. She tried to calm herself by taking deep breaths for a few moments. As her anger began to subside, she heard Greisy speaking to her.
“Madam, what about Alpha Usher?”
Mireya’s eyes opened slowly. She saw Usher lying on the ground in a pitiful state. His expression was dejected and she cursed inwardly. Useless Alpha. It was so embarrassing.
Mireya sighed heavily before she replied, “Take him to his room. Take care of him as you wish.”
“Very well, madam,” Greisy replied promptly.
Greisy immediately ordered the Omegas to take Usher to his room. Then she cleaned up Usher’s condition. During this time, Mireya’s mind was occupied with something. She remembered the incident that had happened to Usher earlier.
The anger that had consumed Mireya was momentarily interrupted by confusion. Although she had wanted to render Usher helpless, the strange event made her wonder.
“What actually happened to Usher?” Mireya asked after she had ordered Greisy and the Omegas to leave Usher’s room. Now only the two of them were left. “Why did he suddenly feel pain? Besides, I have never seen these symptoms before.” She glanced at the alpha mark tattoo on Usher’s neck, which looked charred as if it had just been burned. “Did I miss something?”
After a moment of thought, Mireya decided to contact Willow. She needed to find out as soon as possible, so she left Usher’s room immediately. She instructed Greisy to stand guard as usual; no one was to enter.
Alone in the room, Usher lay helpless on the bed, his condition truly pitiful. His face conveyed helplessness, and his breath seemed so weak. Then everything became complete as a feeling of unease crept in and disturbed his sleep.
It all started with the loud voices that filled his head. Usher was thrown into his subconscious. The storm of chaos made his mind fragile. He was trapped in a whirlwind of confusion that caused unbearable disorientation. There was no way out, only darkness and emptiness that enveloped him in a sad loneliness.
“Oh, my goodness. I’ve missed you so much, Torin.”
“I missed you too, Mireya. I really missed you.”
“No matter what happens, I will always be by your side. I will always be your fifth claw, Alpha.”
“I love you, Vione.”
“Thank you, Usher. Thank you for always being with me.
“You don’t need a claw, Vione. I will always protect you.”
Usher’s unconsciousness was disturbed by an overwhelming sense of suffocation. He began to agitate. He moved aimlessly on the bed, and as the voices in his head multiplied, his reflex movements became increasingly uncontrollable.
Usher groaned in the encroaching darkness. He was trapped in a confusing maze. Waves of fear washed over him, tearing apart all realities. It felt as if he was caught in an uncontrollable whirlpool of emotions, swallowed by an endless darkness with no light to penetrate and provide illumination. He tried to find a way out, but the more he struggled, the deeper he sank into despair.
The suffocation intensified. The restlessness became uncontrollable. Usher rebelled. He tried to break free of the bonds, and then he heard a voice say, “Wake up!”
