I didn’t know how long I stood there in the cold, staring into the woods where Logan had disappeared. My body felt numb, my mind racing in a thousand different directions, but one thought kept repeating itself.
Why was Logan behaving like this?
I went back to the house to meet my mother who was crying on the floor.
I rushed over to my mother, kneeling beside her as she sobbed on the floor. Her shoulders shook, and I could feel her pain.
“Mom, it’s going to be alright,” I said softly, placing my hand gently on her arm. “I promise, everything will be okay.”
She didn’t respond, just kept crying, her tears soaking into the carpet. I knew I couldn’t let her stay like this, not with everything going on. I had to protect her, even if it meant doing something drastic.
I closed my eyes, feeling the familiar pull of magic inside me. My fingers tingled as I whispered the words of a simple spell under my breath, one that would make her forget for a while, just enough to give her some peace.
My mother’s sobs slowed as the spell took effect. Her tense body began to relax, and she leaned back, her breathing becoming more steady. The sadness in her eyes faded, replaced with a calm emptiness.
I hated using magic on her, but she didn’t need to feel this pain right now. She’d been through enough.
I helped her up from the floor and led her to the couch. “Rest for a bit, Mom. You’ll feel better soon,” I whispered, brushing a stray tear from her cheek. She nodded silently, her gaze distant, and I covered her with a blanket.
Once my mother finally fell asleep, I stood up quietly and slipped out of the room. The house felt heavy, like the walls were holding in all the emotions neither of us could express.
I needed to find Logan. Whatever was going on with him, it wasn’t normal. I grabbed my jacket, threw it over my shoulders, and stepped outside. The air was colder now, biting at my skin, but I ignored it. My focus was finding Logan.
I walked into the woods, the cold air making me shiver. I called out, “Logan!” but there was no answer. I kept moving, the crunch of leaves under my feet the only sound.
After a few minutes, I spotted him sitting on a fallen log.
“Logan,” I yelled.
He turned back looking at me confused. “Audrey, what happened to me? Why am I here and covered in blood?”
I took a deep breath, trying to keep my voice steady. “Stop acting like you didn’t just kill your father hours ago, Logan!”
He looked taken aback, disbelief flashing across his face. “What? That’s not-”
“It is!”
“No it’s not!” He yelled.
I felt anger boiling inside me. “You’re in denial! You need to face what you did!”
Without thinking, I raised my hand and slapped him across the face. The sound echoed through the woods, and he stumbled back, eyes wide in shock.
“Don’t you ever try that again!” he shouted, grabbing my wrist tightly.
I winced at his grip. “Logan you’re hurting me.”
He did not care, his eyes darkened while pressing my hand further.
“Logan, please,” I gasped, trying to pull away. “Let me go!”
Logan tightened his grip on my wrist and pulled me closer, his expression shifting from confusion to something more intense. “You think you can just walk in here and tell me what I did?” he said, his voice low and filled with anger.
“Logan, I-”
Before I could finish, he closed the gap between us and kissed me hard, his lips crashing against mine. The kiss was aggressive, filled with a mix of desperation and rage. I struggled against him, but his grip was firm.
“Logan!” I gasped, trying to push him away, but he didn’t relent. He kissed me again, deeper this time, as if trying to drown out everything else around us.
“Stop,” I managed to say, breathless. “You need to think about what just happened.”
His eyes were dark, a storm brewing within them. “I don’t care right now,” he said between kisses, his voice rough. “I just need you.”
I felt a rush of adrenaline and confusion at Logan’s words, the heat of his body pressing against mine overwhelming.
“Logan, this isn’t-” I started, but he silenced me with another kiss, his lips moving against mine with an intensity that sent shockwaves through me. I was torn between anger and an undeniable thrill that came from being so close to him, but I couldn’t let myself forget the reality of the moment.
He pulled back slightly, his breath hot against my ear, whispering harshly, “I want to fuck you, Audrey.”
His words sent a jolt through me, a mix of shock and something I couldn’t quite place. It was aggressive, possessive, and I didn’t know how to respond. My heart raced as I struggled to process the shift in his demeanor, the way his darkness wrapped around us like a thick fog.
Logan,” I breathed, trying to keep my voice steady. “This isn’t you. Please let me go!”
He refused he kept pushing and forcing himself towards me. “I am not letting you go! I am your alpha and you will do as I say!!”
Logan’s words echoed in the silence of the woods, and fear surged through me. I couldn’t believe what was happening, how quickly everything had spiraled out of control.
“Logan, please stop,” I said, my voice shaking. “This isn’t you.”
But he didn’t stop. His grip tightened, his breathing heavy, and I knew I had to do something fast. My mind raced, searching for a way out, for a way to reach him.
“I don’t care,” he growled, his eyes wild. “You belong to me now, Audrey.”
I tried to push him away again, but he was stronger, holding me in place. Desperation bubbled up inside me. I had to do something, anything to break free.
Without thinking, I whispered a spell under my breath. It wasn’t powerful, just enough to create a moment of distraction. A gust of wind swept through the trees, swirling around us, making Logan falter for a second.
