Two weeks later, nothing had changed. My friends were still ignoring me, acting like I was invisible. I felt like an outsider at my own school, and it didn’t seem fair that I was the only one suffering. Logan walked around like nothing was wrong. He was still popular, still the life of the party. The rumors had involved both of us, but somehow, I was the only one being punished.
I sat alone in the cafeteria, pushing food around on my plate. Tanya and Mal were at a table nearby, laughing and chatting with other classmates. Every time I glanced their way, they looked right through me, like I wasn’t even there. It stung.
As the days passed, the whispers about me only grew louder. “Did you hear what Audrey did?” “She’s such a loser now.” “I can’t believe she thought Logan would actually like her.” I heard snippets of conversations as I walked by, each one a knife to my heart.
I missed my friends. I missed feeling like I belonged. I tried to reach out to them, but every text went unanswered, and every attempt to talk was met with cold shoulders. I felt completely alone.
But even with all this pain, I had other things to focus on. My thoughts drifted to the Eternity Book. I hadn’t been able to open it since that day. No matter how hard I tried, it remained shut, as if it were locked tight, guarding its secrets from me.
I wondered what the book could reveal. Would it show me a glimpse of the future? Would it give me answers to my questions? I needed to know if things would ever get better. The idea of knowing what was ahead felt like a lifeline, something to hold onto in this chaos.
But every time I thought about opening it, a wave of uncertainty washed over me. What if it showed me things I wasn’t ready to see? What if it revealed more pain or hurt?
I pushed those thoughts aside. I had to try. If I could unlock its secrets, maybe I could find a way to navigate through this darkness.
After school, I headed home, my mind buzzing with thoughts of the book. I couldn’t shake the feeling that it held the key to understanding my future. I needed to find a quiet moment to sit with it, to focus and see if I could figure out how to open it.
When I got home, I found a quiet spot in my room, the Eternity Book resting on my desk. I took a deep breath and focused on all my feelings-my loneliness, my longing for answers, and my hope for a brighter future.
But just as I was about to reach for the book, the door swung open, and Logan burst into my room.
“Audrey!” he shouted, his face serious. “There’s an emergency! We need to go now!”
I jumped, startled by his sudden entrance. “What’s going on?”
“There’s no time to explain! Just trust me!” he insisted, his eyes wide with urgency.
I glanced at the Eternity Book, feeling a pull to it, but Logan’s tone made it clear that whatever was happening was important. I nodded, trying to shake off my frustration.
“Okay, I’m coming. Just give me a second,” I said, quickly putting the book aside.
Logan waited impatiently as I grabbed my jacket and slipped it on. “What’s the emergency?” I asked as we rushed out of my room.
“I’ll explain on the way,” he said, pulling me toward the door. “Just follow me!”
As we hurried down the stairs and out of the house, Logan kept glancing over his shoulder, his expression a mix of concern and determination. I followed closely, my heart pounding with a mix of anxiety and curiosity.
“Where are we going?” I asked, trying to keep up with his brisk pace.
“To the pack meeting spot,” he replied, urgency lacing his words. “Something serious has come up, and we need to gather everyone.”
My mind raced with questions. The pack
meeting? What happened?
“There’s something important we need to discuss with the pack,” he said, glancing at me. “It’s about a situation that could affect all of us.”
We reached the abandoned club where the pack gathered for meetings.
Logan led me inside, his grip on my hand reassuring but firm. I looked around at familiar faces but one caught my eyes and I could not believe it!
