In the next second, her hand was easily removed by the man. His eyes no longer concealed his desire, and any changes were more evident. His warm body covered hers, his voice hoarse and teasing, “Callie, you invited me, didn’t you?”
Two bodies, long separated but familiar, intertwined with boundless passion. The night was filled with intimacy and warmth.
What is the most enticing thing for a woman when it comes to a man?
Skill, beauty, and external possessions.
Nelson possessed all of these.
By the time they were done, daylight had fully broken outside. The woman lay beneath him, her hair damp, eyes half-closed, presenting herself in the most primal manner.
Nelson suddenly felt a tickle in his heart. He leaned down and smiled beside her ear, “Good morning.”
Callie wanted to push him away but was too weak.
The man, full of energy, lifted her from the bed and carried her into the bathroom.
When Nelson placed Callie into the warm water of the bathtub, his movements were not without tenderness. As he used a towel to wash her body, reaching her chest, Callie couldn’t bear the pressure anymore and grabbed his hand. She spoke, “I have something to tell you.”
Indeed, what had kept her going under his intense advances was this unspoken matter.
Nelson didn’t react immediately. After a moment, he said playfully, “Are you sure you want to say it now?”
Callie’s body tensed. She quickly let go of his hand and said in a muffled tone, “I need to say it.”
This time Nelson didn’t refuse. He continued washing her with a casual tone, “Go ahead.”
The words that had been on Callie’s mind seemed to falter in the face of his nonchalant attitude.
Bridger was right. If she didn’t think for herself, she had to think about the future.
She needed to hold onto Nelson, no matter the reason.
She took a deep breath and spoke in an extremely calm tone, “All this time, I’ve been telling myself over and over that you ruthlessly pushed me into the spotlight, chose to sacrifice me, and treated me so badly. I must remember this and repay it double… But, but I…”
Her words were incoherent and difficult to express. All the poetic phrases seemed useless at this moment.
Nelson’s actions never stopped. He stood behind her, helping her tie up her hair. As he lifted her dark hair, the kiss marks on her neck were revealed.
He finally spoke, “But you could never really harden your heart against me, could you?”
Callie trembled slightly, feeling the water in the bathtub turn icy cold.
Bridger hadn’t deceived her; Nelson was always smart. His eyes could see through the deepest emotions hidden in anyone’s heart.
Some things were clear in his mind like a mirror, but he didn’t expose them, leaving her with enough dignity.
“This time, although I don’t think I was wrong, I still want to say I’m sorry for standing against you and causing you so much trouble.” Her apology was extremely sincere.
Nelson’s eyes were filled with many emotions. In the end, he just picked her up and placed her on a prepared towel, wrapping her like a child with only her head exposed. She looked at him with wet eyes, nervously.
“Is it really you saying such things?”
“And,” Callie ignored him and continued speaking, “my father has woken up.”
His action of drying her hair paused immediately.
