When the woman spoke, the crowd around her, who had been ogling her legs, suddenly shifted to looks of surprise.
“Enoch Bernard? You mean the commander of Inassea?” someone murmured.
“Holy crap, that’s insane! This guy commands an army of 100, 000. No wonder this woman’s so stunning-she’s his wife. Man, that’s some serious envy right there.”
“What the hell was that guy thinking? How did he manage to piss off Enoch Bernard’s woman?”
“Pfft, you haven’t heard? The dude straight-up groped her in broad daylight. Can’t blame him, though. With a beauty like that, who wouldn’t be tempted? But seriously, man… this guy did what the rest of us only dream of doing.”
“Legendary!”
The crowd was buzzing with gossip, and the woman stood there, feeling even more smug. She snorted, slowly stood up, dusted off her butt, and shot a sneer at Kayden Scott. “You, kid, don’t even bother apologizing now. It’s too late for that. Losers like you deserve to rot in jail. I’ll get my husband to throw you in a cell for the next ten years, maybe more!”
She folded her arms and raised her chin arrogantly, then pulled out her phone to call Enoch Bernard.
She expected Kayden to beg for forgiveness, to drop to his knees any second now. But to her shock, he didn’t. He stood there, calm as a cucumber, showing zero fear, like her threats didn’t even register.
That pissed her off even more. What’s this punk thinking? Does he really think she won’t call Enoch?
“Hey! My husband’s Enoch Bernard, you know, the commander of Inassea!” she repeated, both as a reminder and a flex.
Kayden nodded slightly. “Enoch Bernard, huh? Yeah, I met him once. It’s good he’s coming-he needs to learn to keep his wife in check.”
Bold. Cocky. Straight-up reckless.
The onlookers couldn’t believe it. They shook their heads in disbelief, some even chuckling at how ridiculous he sounded.
What a joke, they thought. Kayden Scott, with his shabby clothes, claiming to know Enoch Bernard? Who the hell would believe that?
One guy even said, “If you know Enoch Bernard, then I must be best friends with the Dragon Lord.”
An older man in simple clothes, clearly annoyed, chimed in, “Son, I’ve seen plenty of your type. Always goofing off, watching trashy movies and pulling stupid stunts like this. Do you even know who Enoch Bernard is? He commands an army of 100, 000! 100, 000, kid!”
“Old man, mind your own business!” snapped the woman, fuming at Kayden’s unshaken composure. If she didn’t get him locked up, she felt like she wouldn’t be worthy of being Enoch Bernard’s wife.
She turned back to the phone and said, “Enoch, I’ve been harassed! This little punk groped me on the street! Yes, in broad daylight! Of course I’m serious, why would I lie about something this humiliating? Get over here and arrest him right now! I’m across from the town hall.”
“Got it! I’m on my way!” came the firm, angry response from the other end.
The woman hung up and smirked at the crowd, “Watch closely, everyone. Today, I’m taking down this pervert for good! People like him don’t deserve to walk free.”
Kayden Scott let out a low chuckle, clearly uninterested in further conversation. He stood there, waiting. Not because he was scared, but because he had business with Enoch Bernard. If not for that, he wouldn’t waste another word on this woman.
Before long, three official cars pulled up, and the crowd scattered to the sides. These weren’t regular patrol cars-they were Inassea’s official vehicles. A squad of well-armed soldiers, their rifles gleaming, marched out in formation, lining up as if awaiting someone important.
Soon enough, a man stepped out of the middle car. He was around 40, radiating authority and confidence. The moment he appeared, the crowd instinctively parted, leaving a clear path for him.
That’s power, they thought. The sight of his uniform alone made people step back in fear.
As he surveyed the scene with sharp eyes, he marched forward, every step heavy with purpose.
Seeing him approach, the woman shot Kayden a murderous glance and sneered, “You’re done for, kid!”
“Enoch!” she cried out as she rushed into his arms, flaunting their affection for everyone to see. Clearly, their marriage was solid.
“Shh, it’s okay now. I’m here,” Enoch Bernard said, gently patting her back, his expression one of concern.
But the woman wasn’t done. “Look what he did to me! He grabbed my skirt in front of everyone! Tore it! He has zero respect for you,” she said, lifting the hem of her ruined dress. The sight of her smooth, flawless legs made the crowd’s eyes widen in disbelief.
Enoch Bernard’s face twitched in fury as he growled, “This is outrageous!”
“And do you know what pathetic excuse he gave me? He claimed he was saving me, taking a bullet for me! He’s nuts! And while he held me, you wouldn’t believe what he did-he groped me all over! Enoch, you’ve got to deal with him. He’s driving me insane!” The woman, her face flushed with anger, added more fuel to the fire.
Enoch’s pride had been insulted. In broad daylight, someone had dared to touch his wife. This was unforgivable. His face contorted in rage as he let out a furious roar, “This is absurd!”
“Where is this scumbag?” he barked.
The woman pointed at a skinny, scruffy young man and said, “There! That’s him!”
Enoch Bernard’s eyes followed her finger, and when they landed on Kayden Scott, his expression instantly changed. The rage drained from his face, replaced by pure shock-a kind of shock that hit deep, right down to the core.
