Nora’s POV
My heart rate accelerated as his hands made his way to my hijab.
No it can’t end here.
It was as if the universe could sense my frustrations, just then, the elevator doors creaked open.
My eyes widened, and I pushed him away from me, hastily adjusting my hijab.
“Dad … Are you okay ?” Jakes worried voice burst in.
“I’m fine..” Ray said dusting dirt off his clothes.
We both stumbled out, gasping, into the bright lights of the lobby, a sudden cold enveloped me and I started shivering.
Jakes eyes scanned between the both of us, his expression blank.
Security personnel rushed toward us aswell, holding
“Are you okay?” one asked.
I nodded, still shaken.
Ray’s gaze lingered on me, his emotions in turmoil.
He took off his jacket and draped it around me.
“I’m very sorry about all of these.”
“It’s not your fault, you couldn’t have possibly known.”
“Get her a cup of coffee, she’s shivering.” He ordered, his voice authoritative.
“No I’m fine,” I said my voice shaky.
However one of the security guy went off to get the coffee.
He wrapped his hand around me and led me to the bench in the lobby.
The coffee came and I took tiny sips from it.
I’m not certain why I feel so dizzy right now, but I can’t fathom the amount of shock I was in few minutes ago.
“Better ?” Ray asked his eyes fixed on me.
“Yes. I should get going.”
“I’ll drop you off..”
“Thanks but that won’t be necessary, I’m just glad we’re both okay..”
All these while, Jake stood there in a daze, probably wondering when I and his father became this close.
I was in so much shock to even think about anything else.
Getting home that night, the day incident kept playing in my head, my life literally flashed in my eyes and I was just so thankful that it all ended and didn’t escalate any further.
Ray was so close to discovering who I was today.
I shook my head to knock myself back to present.
“Are you having fun in your new school ?” I asked Mia as I tucked her to bed.
“Yes mum.. everyone speaks English here. Do you know that I and Mason are the only ones who can speak two languages ?”
“Wow you must be really popular.”
“I know right, everyone wants to be my friend.”
“Well that’s a good thing cause we’ll be staying a little longer. It’s Thanksgiving on Sunday, I’ll take you both to see your Gran Gran.”
“Really ?” Mason who had paid no attention to our conversation asked.
“Yup..”
“Wow that’s so cool, do we get to see Dad as well ?”
“No sweetheart, just Grand parents and your Aunt.”
“Well that’s something.” Mia said shrugging.
“Alright sweethearts, go to bed now.”
“Goodnight mum.. I love you.”
“I love you too my little princess..”
“Goodnight Mason,”
“Goodnight mum.”
I shut their doors and went back to my room.
I needed a to start working on my plan.
I don’t know how long I can continue to conceal my identity.
Sooner or later Ray will figure out, and I want to be able to archive what I want before he does that.
I scanned through the net and came across an article.
It was an article encouraging people to make a trade, when you place a trade of about a million dollar, you’ll get back atleast times two of the amount you placed.
Seeing the article I got an idea, humans are very predictable. And will always go for a better opportunity.
I can create a website like this, since I need the shareholders to sell their shares, I can get them to invest on it.
I’ll use someone to meet them one after the other, encouraging them to invest.
The higher they buy, the more money they get, that way I can convince them to sell their shares to get more more and when they earn their money from the trade they can re buy their shares.
I can make it that one gets only one entry into the game.
Ones you win you can’t get in again.
I draft out my plan, sending the details to Juliette, requesting her to find someone who can create what I want.
They’ll definitely earn and won’t lose their money.
The only thing is they won’t be able to buy back their shares.
Hopefully it works, I just need someone capable of convincing them, and I know exactly who to use.
Jake…
He’s desperate to make money and be above his father, he’s the only one who could pull this off without any suspicion.
I just need someone who can convince him into doing it.
Emma can definitely do that.
Juliette replied promptly. “I’ve found someone reliable to create the trading platform. How do you want to proceed?”
“How long will it take the person to create the platform?”
“Six to twelve months estimatingly..” she replied.
“What !! I don’t have that time.. I don’t even have a week..”
“It’s a complex advanced cryptocurrency and High Frequency Trading (HTF) platform. The shareholders aren’t illiterate, they should be convinced about the legitimacy of the platform. We can’t just tell them about a small website promising them billions of dollars.
They need to know the risk management, real time market data analytics, integration with multiple exchange.”
“I totally understand what you mean Juliette, but I don’t have that much time.”
“Well with more people working on it the time could be shortened.”
“Then get as much people as possible.. I want it by the end of the week..”
“Ma’am!!” She exclaimed.”I don’t think that’s possible.”
“I believe in you Juliette.” I didn’t wait for her to whine any further I just ended the call.
Who knew taking revenge would be this expensive.
I made more research, contacting people who can help me archive my goals more.
The next day, I met with a lady around my age.
I had worn blue denim jeans a top and a cap to conceal my identity.
She was a young lady around twenty four or so, she’s about five feet six inches, her hair was a mix of pink and black, and she had lots of makeup on which I think she doesn’t really need.
And like she stated she’s into the street, she had on a sleeveless top, with a very short skirt on.
“As long as I don’t have to kill anyone I’m in..”
“Actually you don’t, but atleast hear what I need you to do first ..”
We were currently seated at a coffee store in town.
Chewing her bubble gum,”Alright. Go on.”
I brought out a picture of Emma, showing it to her.
“I need you to tail her, preferably to a salon and start up a conversation. The conversation necessarily doesn’t have to be directed to her, but make sure you pique her interest. I’m creating a website, and I want her boyfriend to invest in it. Sing praises of the website, say things like you were with a very rich man last night and he’s investing on the website. Don’t stop there, go on with things like even when you were at the club, his friends sold their shares and placed a trade, that they got triple their money. And that you got paid so well and is thankful for the websites.”
“So all I need to do is to sugar coat the website ?” She asked paying more attention than she was when we started the conversation.
“Yes..”
“And what if she doesn’t fall for it ?”
“She will, you won’t be the only one convincing her.”
“I’m in. How much?”
“Ten thousand dollars.”
“Deal!”
Her eyes sparkled, and she nodded.
I handed her a folder with details and photos.
“Remember, natural and convincing. Emma needs to believe you.”
She nodded, tucking the folder into her bag.
“I’ll make it happen.”
She left the coffee shop, while I sat back to finish my coffee.
I contacted Alex, an expert in cybersecurity, got his number from someone who Juliette asked me to contact. He’s reportedly good at what he does.
“Can you hack into Blue Enterprise’s system?” I asked.
“Possible, but risky. What’s the goal?”
“I need the shareholder list.”
“That’s all ?” He asked surprise itched in his voice.
“Yes that’s all. Why’d you ask ?”
“Well if you’re taking such risk I was hoping you’d be going for something catchy, not some list of shareholders.”
“Ahhh, you’re right. If you find anything useful there you can get it for me as well, but I’m more interested on the list.”
“Alright.”
“So can you do it ?”
“Tricky. But I’ll try.”
“Good, I’ll make it worth your while.”
We negotiated the price, and Alex agreed.
My plan was unfolding, piece by piece.
I left the coffee shop, walking down the street.
Just enjoying the cool breeze in my skin.
I got to an alley and took a turn, I noticed that someone behind me took the same turn.
I walked down further, but couldn’t shake off the feeling that I was being followed.
Shaking it off, I ruled it off as my nerve just acting up.
However I took another turn and this time I was certain the same person took the turn with me.
At this point I was sweating already.
Looking behind my shoulder I saw the shadow of someone sneaking behind a wall the moment I turned.
I took two more steps forward and the person came out following me again.
I stopped to look behind me, but the person sneaked behind a pole.
I quickly took to my heels and took a left turn and heed behind a vehicle.
The alley wasn’t a busy one and the only other person walking on the street right now is far away.
I’ll have to shout for the person to spot me and that will alert who ever it was after me.
But who could the person be ?
Did they find out about me already ? damn it !
What have I gotten myself into ?
I saw an iron that could pass off as a broken pole.
I held on to it positioning myself behind the car, my grip on the pole firm.
The person walked closer, eye scanning around for me.
The person had an all black outfit on, black trouser, black shirt, black hat.
“Don’t move!” I shouted, jumping out from behind the vehicle, adrenaline coursing through my veins.
Raising both hands up the person turned around.
Shocked is an understatement….
It was..
