We arrived at the location, and the magnitude of the building knocked the devil out of me, the building soared into the sky, with glass walls.
“Kings Land” was written in big letters on the side.
I had to conceal my astonishment, as the car rolled to a stop in front of the pavement, I took a deep breath and stepped out of the car. Three men and two women, including Juliette, stood at the entrance. She rushed over with a bouquet of roses.
“Welcome!” Juliette said with a smile, handing me the flowers.
“Thanks, Juliette,” I replied. “Am I late?” I asked, receiving the bouquet from her.
“Not at all ma’am.” She said.
“Welcome mademoiselle Nora ..” the people who had accompanied her chorused.
“Thank you very much.” I said stretching out my hands to shake them warmly.
They all introduced themselves but at this point all I was thinking was the meeting, I couldn’t even recall the first person’s name and I’m only on the third person right now.
All have been doing was make research, I need to be able to show them that I’m a leader who will fully partake in the companies growth. And I intend on doing that by making a proposal.
As I stepped into the building, I couldn’t help but admire masterpiece surrounding me. The marble floors, crystal chandeliers, and sleek glass walls exuded luxury. No matter how distracted I am right now, the beauty still caught my attention.
Juliette led me to a spacious conference room where the shareholders sat waiting for me.
The moment they saw me walk in they all stood up.
With confidence, I walked towards each and everyone of them, I extended my hand, greeting each person warmly, as if we’d known each other for years.
I want the meeting to go as smoothly as possible, and right from the door I could see and sense weariness.
“Good morning, gentlemen and of course Ladies. It’s an honor to finally meet you all in person.”
Their faces, etched with curiosity, softened into smiles as I took my seat at the head of the table.
“I must say pictures didn’t justify your looks.” I said smiling and scanning all their faces. I wanted them to know that I had made my research..”well, let’s dive right in, shall we?” I suggested, my voice assertive yet gracious.
I looked up, commanding the attention of the shareholders. As the newly appointed CEO of Kings Land, I was determined to make a strong impression.
“I appreciate you all taking the time to meet today. Our agenda focuses on strategic growth and expansion.”I began, my voice confident and authoritative.
Mr. Thompson, a longtime shareholder, nodded respectfully. “Welcome, Nora. We’re eager to hear your vision.”
My mind raced and even with the air-condition on, I could feel sweat drizzling down my back.
I beckoned on Juliette and she distributed folders I had prepared containing my presentation.
After making sure it went round I began.
“Kings Land’s current market share is substantial, but I believe we can dominate the industry. My proposal outlines aggressive expansion into renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure.”
Mr. Jenkins, the CFO, raised an eyebrow. “Ambitious plans, Nora. How do you intend to finance this expansion?”
“We’ll explore strategic partnerships and investments,” I replied. “Our financial projections indicate significant returns, exceeding 20% ROI within the first five years.”
Ms. Rodriguez, a shareholder, asked, “What changes can we expect in leadership and management?”
“I’ll be restructuring key departments to optimize efficiency,” I answered. “New talent will be brought in to complement our existing team.”
Mr. Patel, another shareholder, spoke up. “Mademoiselle Nora, how will you address potential risks and challenges?”
“Risk management is my top priority,” I assured him. “Contingency plans are in place to mitigate regulatory, market, and operational risks.”
The shareholders nodded, impressed by my comprehensive plan.
As the meeting concluded, I summarized. “I expect swift implementation of these strategies. Regular progress updates will be shared. Your support and collaboration are crucial to Kings Land’s success.”
Mr. Thompson smiled. “We’re confident in your leadership, Nora. You have big shoes to fill, but we believe you’re the right person to take Kings Land forward.”
“Thank you very much Mr Thompson, I’m glad to know I have you’ll to look up to.” I said smiling back at him.
As the meeting adjourned, the shareholders approached me, shaking hands and exchanging business cards. Juliette hovered nearby, beaming with pride.
Mr. Thompson detained me, his voice low. “Mademoiselle Nora, I must say, I’m impressed. Your grasp of our business is remarkable.”
“Thank you, Mr. Thompson,” I replied. “I’ve done my homework.”
He chuckled. “I think you’ll find we make a good team. Let’s schedule a follow-up meeting to discuss implementation.”
“I’ll have Juliette coordinate,” I said, smiling.
As the room emptied, Juliette stepped forward. “Shall I escort you to your next appointment, Ma’am?”
“Please, Juliette, call me Nora,” I said with a smile. “And yes, what’s next?”
“Your lunch meeting with Mr. Lee, our head of marketing,” Juliette replied, checking her tablet.
I nodded, gathering my papers. “Let’s go.”
In the elevator, Juliette asked, “How did you feel about the meeting?”
“Productive,” I replied. “But I sense some reservations. Who’s potentially opposed to my proposal?”
Juliette’s expression turned cautious. “Mr. Jenkins, our CFO. He’s concerned about risks and ROI.”
I nodded thoughtfully. “Schedule a private meeting with Mr. Jenkins. I’ll address his concerns.”
If someone had told me two days ago that I’ll be so relax dealing with all of these I wouldn’t have believed the person, my preparation had really paid off.
I’m so excited and can’t wait to get home and tell Kate all that has happened.
The elevator doors opened, revealing a modern restaurant. At this point I won’t be shocked if I find a stadium in this building.
“Mr. Lee awaits,” Juliette announced, pointing her hand towards the restaurant.
We entered the restaurant, and she guided me to a private dining room. Mr. Lee, a tall, slender man with a warm smile, stood up to greet me.
“Miss Nora, delighted to finally meet you,” he said, extending his hand.
“Likewise, Mr. Lee,” I replied, shaking his hand.
Juliette discreetly excused herself, leaving us alone.
Over lunch, Mr. Lee discussed Kings Land’s marketing strategies. “We’ve been focusing on digital campaigns, social media, and influencer partnerships.”
“I’d like to explore more traditional methods,” I said, “print media, television ads, and event sponsorships.”
Mr. Lee nodded thoughtfully. “A balanced approach could benefit our brand. What’s your vision?”
“I want to reposition Kings Land as a leader in sustainable energy solutions,” I explained. “Emphasize our commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.”
Mr. Lee scribbled notes on his pad. “I like it. We can create a compelling narrative around that.”
As lunch concluded, I asked, “What’s the current status of our marketing team?”
“We have talented individuals, but morale is low,” Mr. Lee admitted. “The previous CEO’s passing left uncertainty.”
“I’ll address that,” I assured him. “I want to empower the team, encourage creativity and collaboration.”
Mr. Lee smiled. “You’re off to a great start, Miss Nora. I’m excited to work with you.”
As we parted ways, Juliette reappeared.
“How was lunch?” she asked.
“Productive again,” I replied.
“Schedule a meeting with the marketing team for tomorrow. I want to meet them and outline my expectations.”
Juliette nodded, typing on her tablet.
At this point I won’t even get a break, I picked up my phone to place a video call to Mia and Mason.
“Hey mum..” Mia’s cheerful voice burst through the speaker on the third ring.
“Mia, hey sweetie!” I exclaimed, smiling at her bright face on the screen.
“Mom, how’s your day going ?” Mia asked, “Did your meeting go well ?”
“It’s been amazing, baby,” I replied. “And yes my meeting went well.”
Mason’s face appeared beside Mia’s. “Mom, we miss you!”
“Aww, I miss you both too, have you had something to eat ?” I asked,
“Yes mum,” they both chorused .
“Alright sweetheart, I’ll be home soon okayy ?”
“We can’t wait!” Mia chimed in.
As I ended the call, Juliette approached.”I’ll show you to your office,” Juliette said, gesturing down the corridor.
I followed her, taking in the modern design of the executive floor.
As we walked, Juliette pointed out various offices and meeting rooms. “That’s the boardroom, and next to it is the executive lounge.”
We stopped at a door with a polished wooden sign reading “CEO.”
Juliette smiled. “Welcome to your new workspace.”
She opened the door, revealing a spacious, elegantly furnished office with a stunning city view.
I stepped inside, feeling so overwhelmed, in my wildest imagination I could never have imagined myself in such a place.
“Beautiful,” I said, admiring the decor, while trying to hide my teary eyes.
Juliette smiled. “Mr. Beaumont’s office has been refreshed to suit your taste.”
I nodded, noticing have it has been set to suite my personal style.
A large, mahogany desk dominated the room, with comfortable chairs and a sleek, glass-topped coffee table.
Floor-to-ceiling windows offered an impressive view of the city of Paris.
“Your personal assistant, Emily, will be introduced shortly,” Juliette said. “She’ll help you settle in.”
I nodded,”Thank you very much.”
She gave a little bow and turned to leave.
I ran my hands over the table admiring it.. Me.. Nora.. A CEO..
I let out a chuckle still finding it difficult to believe.
I swung myself on the chair and just let myself enjoy the cities view.
