Suddenly, the sound of a child’s silvery laughter came through the glass.
Enrico slowly opened his eyes, outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, wearing a small yellow raincoat Gabriel is flying out of the garden, small hands holding a watering gun, is happily spraying water everywhere, spraying also did not forget to use a pair of feet wearing a small rainboots stepped on everywhere, rain hat under the face of a small happy to oblivion.
Olivia and Beau’s housekeeper were standing far away from each other, afraid of being affected.
“Dolphin, it’s raining!” Gabriel bounced around happily, spraying the little dolphin with his water gun.
The white, long-haired hyena was startled and jumped everywhere.
Enrico was sitting on the couch, watching the playful Gabriel in silence, when suddenly a sharp pain hit his head.
It was like a pinprick.
Enrico suddenly bent over in pain, hanging his head, pressing his large palm to his forehead, the veins at the corners of his forehead throbbing madly as if they were about to explode.
It was starting to flare up again.
Enrico clenched his teeth tightly, directly pushing through this wave of intense pain.
Only after a long time did his eyes begin to clear.
“…”
Unsure if it was truly the end of his life, his headache attacks had become more frequent since leaving Wind Island, and thankfully, none of them had been in front of Paige.
Enrico sat hunched over, knocking his head and slowly lifting his face, and as soon as he did, Gabriel’s face fell into his line of sight.
The little fellow pressed his face against the glass to look at him, so close that his features were transfigured.
Seeing him look up, Gabriel gave a little grin and picked up the water gun and flicked the switch, shooting it up into the sky and continuing to play with himself.
It was like a sun shower.
Broken open water droplets fell in full force onto the little guy’s rain cap, which he greeted with a craned neck and a particularly wide grin in the sunlight.
The glass was splattered with a large cloud of vapor, blurring the silhouettes of the two men.
“Look, it’s the little young master, so cute.”
“The young lady said that the little child should not take on such a big title, just call him Gabriel.”
The voices of the two maids resounded not far away, suddenly the decibels of the two men lowered a bit, “Have you noticed that Gabriel is not too close to the young master?”
“Of course I found it, but it’s no wonder, Gabriel has been staying at the border, she’s not familiar with young master, so naturally she’s not close.”
“That’s not true, Gabriel is a smooth talker, she gets along with everyone, she plays so well with Beau’s housekeeper, but she’s just not close to the young master.”
“After all, Gabriel hasn’t seen her father for the past three years, so she must be uncomfortable with her father’s role, maybe even resistant.”
“If you’re not close as a child, it’s even harder to be close when you grow up, right? That’s not like father and son are going to be separated for the rest of their lives.”
Enrico looked at Gabriel who was playing with water outside the floor-to-ceiling window, his eyes turned cold and sat up straight.
Only then did the two maids realize that there was still someone sitting on the sofa, and they immediately turned pale with fear and stood still, not daring to move.
After realizing that Enrico didn’t turn around to ask questions, the two took their hands and ran away in a panic.
Enrico cold face leaned back to the back of the sofa, his cell phone vibrated, he picked it up and looked at it, it was sent by Dr. Clinton.
[Dr. Clinton: Mr. Gustin, the inhalation spray is ready, should I send it to the consortium or to the manor?]
Enrico glanced at it and turned his cell phone off without replying.
He looks out the floor-to-ceiling window, where Gabriel is still bouncing around and treading water, jumping and spinning in circles, the hose following him, almost tangling him and making him fall.
Another spin and Gabriel turns just enough to face Enrico.
Enrico hooked his hand at him expressionlessly.
Gabriel looked at him with a small, bewildered face.
“Come in.” Enrico voiced.
Gabriel blinks and silently puts the squirt gun down in his hand.
After a few moments, Gabriel, who had taken off his raincoat and waders, walked over to Enrico, followed closely by Butler Beau and Olivia.
“You guys get out.” Enrico snapped coldly.
“Yes.” The two gave Gabriel a worried look, but backed out.
Gabriel stood in front of him, looking at him with some confusion, “What’s wrong?”
Enrico didn’t speak immediately, reaching out to pick up the coffee that the servant next to him had just brought, the coffee’s aroma with bitterness wafting out along with the hot air.
He stared down at the coffee in the cup, his eyes deep, his face unable to distinguish between happiness and anger.
He said, “Gabriel, call out to me.”
“Huh?” Gabriel looked at him with extra confusion.
Enrico gently shook the cup in his hand and indifferently said, “Is it because you don’t know what to call me, or you don’t want to?”
What to call?
Gabriel blinks, thinks for two seconds, and tries, “Daddy?”
Milky voice.
And yet not a hint of reluctance.
“…”
Enrico’s hand freezes in his grip on the cup, the coffee rippling in it, and his eyes freeze for a moment.
It took a moment before Enrico raised his eyes to the small man in front of him, “You’re willing to call me?”
“Ken.” Gabriel nodded his little head, a little puzzled as to what it was that he wouldn’t.
Mommy is Mommy.
Daddy is Daddy.
Son is son.
Isn’t that simple enough?
Enrico stared at him in silence.
“…” Gabriel, not quite comfortable with the look, reached up and scratched his head, looking at him in some confusion.
“Then why did you say you were red-eyed and refused to take off your sunglasses before?” Enrico asked, not wanting to recognize him?
At that, Gabriel is a little sheepish, “I was afraid you’d give me back to Olivia.”
Olivia was horrible.
Nice to him yes, but just trying to force him to learn.
“…”
So that was the reason.
Enrico finally understood, he stared at Gabriel in front of him, “Call me again.”
Gabriel looked at him with a strange look on his face, but still said, “Daddy.”
“Call again.” Enrico looked at his face, which resembled Paige’s, with an obscure expression.
Gabriel couldn’t understand what he was thinking and could only continue to call him, “Daddy.”
“…”
“Daddy.” How many times do I have to call him?
“…”
“Daddy.”
“Okay, I Enrico recognize it.”
Enrico suddenly let out a low chuckle, somewhat self-deprecating, and added, “Give me your hand.”
“Oh.” Gabriel obediently stretched out his two small hands, spreading out his white tender palms.
A small hollowed out metal ball fell into his hand.
The metal ball was golden in the sunlight, but there was nothing inside, it was empty.
Gabriel cupped the metal ball in his small hand and held it in front of his eyes, “What is this? It smells good.”
Of course it smelled, there was supposed to be a medicine inside developed from the Deadwood Snow and Forgotten Life Fruit, filling it with the scent of flowers.
“…”
“What is this for?”
Seeing that Enrico didn’t say anything, Gabriel spun the tiny metal ball and asked again.
Enrico looked around, reached for a pillow, pulled a tasseled thread off of it, and said, “Consider it a pendant.”
With that, he retrieved the metal ball, which had a small empty clasp at the top, and he ran the thread through the center, tied a knot, and hung it immediately around Gabriel’s neck.
As soon as Gabriel clutched the string, the metal ball spun.
It was fun to watch.
“Now it’s yours.” Enrico stared at him in a deep voice.
You call me daddy and I’ll give you my life.
